“What Do You Collect?”: User Asked Pandas To Show Their Collections And 50 People Delivered
People just love collecting things, no matter what. And it's really amazing how different each collection is from one another. Some collect stamps, others toys, and others go even further and create their own ideas for a collection.
Which is why I thought it would be interesting to see what Bored Panda community members are collecting, and I wasn't disappointed. Some collections were really bizarre in an awesome way, some collections were more standard, but still very exciting to see. Without a doubt, there's a collection for anything one might conceive of.

Uranium Glass💚
It's beautiful. Can sometimes be found in thrift shops.
Load More Replies...I had some (nowhere near as much as you) but due to moving and husband if it is not his, bin! I doubt I have any left.
Wtf? You're husband doesn't let you have anything for yourself?
Load More Replies...I don't believe these are made nowdays so try flea markets. They are lit with dark lights in the photo to shine up, but they are still a bit green without black light. They used uranium to color the glass green
Load More Replies...I was wondering the same thing! I know about the history, but I don’t know if it is safe just to have. I know you can’t use it!
Load More Replies...the level of radioactivity in uranium glass is very low, so yes
Load More Replies...Kodak Cameras
Oh Gosh! I haver a Kodak that is over 50 years old, it still takes good pictures, problem is finding someone to develop them.
It is fairly easy to set up a dark room in your house and develop them yourself.
Load More Replies...I love this!! I bought a Kodak ek2 last year coz I had planned to start a small collection. Seeing this, is just amazing!!
Original 50s-60s Lesney Matchbox Cars And 8 (So Far) Of The Original Sweet Sixteen Hot Wheels
I had a big collection of matchbox cars and decades later looked at them and all the rubber (tires) had changed and the wheels all fell off. Any ideas what went wrong?
Hot wheels? HOT WHEELS!!! Those abominations are the work of the Prince of Darkness himself and only exist as an expression of outrage and jealousy as hw gazed upon the majestic beauty of the Sacred Matchbox . . . . .
Unfortunately you have a problem there, you are going to have to build another cupboard, those are full!
I Collect Rocks And Fossils
I have a Devonian sponge and some very smooth rocks with ferny type impressions, which are likely corals.
My other half swears it's a megalodon but it's a small one if it is!
Load More Replies...Come to the UK and go to the beach in Lyme Regis! This was the beach where Mary Anning made her amazing discoveries and still today you can literally just walk along and find your very own ammonite that has not seen the light of day for millions of years
I Love Lunchboxes
My Star Wars lunchbox was stolen during recess in 2nd grade in 1979. If I see it on your shelf I’ll know it was you!
Nice. I wish I had kept my Campus Queen lunchbox from the 60s. It had a magnetic game on the back. I miss it.
Game Consoles
There's another shelfs worth as well. Couldn't fit it all in one picture
Load More Replies...This is so awesome - but, why aren't your consoles hooked up to a Tv???? Sure, you'd be constantly going "what do I play today?", but at least the chose would be there...
Not yet. I'll wait until the price drops & more games to be released
Load More Replies...Bottom right Nintendo is one I have that is still in my mums attic. I should go get it
Pez Dispensers. This Pic Represents About 20% Of My Actual Collection Started 5 Years Ago
I always manage to loose them. I have bought a few over the years. I remember getting a C3P0. Very cool collection you have!
I love the display! My dad collects PEZ and we had special shelves built for what has now become “the PEZ room.” He’s 87 and has been collecting them for over 20 years. He doesn’t travel to conventions anymore, but they’re one of his favorite things. Such a fun thing to collect!
Have you been to the Pez Museum outside New Haven, CT? I was a fun little place!
I was going to comment this too. A nice spot for PEZ collectors, for sure!
Load More Replies...What's missing? There seems to be gaps placed intentionally with the expectation of later arrivals... or sudden departures may have occurred.
Pathogens
Do we even want to know what they are? They actually look cute. Which is scary!
They are not really pathogens just rubber toy models
Load More Replies...Its only infectious to parents of small children. My house is infested.
Load More Replies...Rocks & Minerals! I Don’t Believe In Chakras And Stuff Like That, I Just Think They’re Cool
I like rocks and crystals for the same reason. That are beautiful and interesting to collect. I don’t believe in the healing properties and whatnot, I just like how they look
Same! I have a lot of different kinds of crystals just because they’re so interesting. Couldn’t care less about the “mystical properties” but they’re so cool and shiny 😍
Load More Replies...This is a thing. I live like in the middle of nowhere, but near a place that people from all over the US come to dig.
Me too. I cant help myself. Every time i move, the movers are perplexed by the small but super heavy boxes that just say rocks. 😄
I Collect Vintage Glass! Here's My Whole Collection So Far
Everybody in Finland collects Finnish glass design. Thing here, buy and sell investment thing, small property. Funniest thing is that Finns don't really use Finnish glass products, those are in shelf and display. Then eat and drink from French Luminarc plates and other cheap imported dishes.
Haha! I thought bullsht at first, but I'm holding a French Luminarc glass looking at my Finnish design glass. xD
Load More Replies...My nan collects this kind of stuff. She also collects the Betty Boop figures in a really big cabinet, it’s very interesting. Wish I had photos.
Plants !!! Almost 40 Baby Indoor Plants. Many Were Found And Saved. Here Is A Small Sample
I love buying cheap plants, if I do not find them). Give them time and the small pathetic little thing will grown and grown and turn into a beautiful specimen
I have 54 potted plants outside around my pool in the backyard. My indoors has c**p lighting or I'd have plants indoors too.
Art. A Lot Of Art. For The Last 35 Years, We've Been Buying Art. This Is One Wall. We Live In A Four Story Town House. The Stairwells Are Full
What would you you say is the best way to hang art? I'm loath to use nails, thought of those Command strips, but wonder if they're strong enough.

I understand... as a quilter, i have more fabric than i can ever hope to use. I'm a TEXTILE COLLECTOR!
Tlr Cameras! They're All Functional, And My Oldest Is From WWI
Same but broader range of cameras. I have 2 of the exact ones you have. Awesome!
I'll use wiki for this one: "A twin-lens reflex camera is a type of camera with two objective lenses of the same focal length. One of the lenses is the photographic objective or "taking lens", while the other is used for the viewfinder system, which is usually viewed from above at waist level."
Load More Replies...As Many Really Cool Toys From The 60s And 70s As My Time Left On This Earth Will Allow
The pictures don't do the toys justice. My brother had a "Thing Maker." So much fun! Are you the original collector?
Skulls. At Least 50 Species, And Over 100 Total.
I teach High School Anatomy, of which we cover the reproductive systems, sometimes comparatively to other mammals. I bought a (raccoon?) baculum from ebay to pass around to the class. I am surprised how many students wanted a selfie witha penis bone. Potential for a possible collection there! :) (edit: I spelled baculum wrong, c'mon what kind of teacher am I? Sigh.)
Nice snakeskin too. I have a couple of skulls hanging around, most of mine are bird skulls though. I have a sheep skull though, and also a several feet long snakeskin kept in a jar. xD
I've got a teaching skeleton in the living room. He's called Charlie. He likes dressing up
My friends think I'm warped for collecting skulls. The hardest part is to get the mandible, too!
20th Century Toy Sewing Machines And 19th And 20th Century Sewing Implements. This Is A Tiny Sample!
Oh I do wish you lived nearer me. I have an ancient sewing machine, tiny but not sure if it is toy or full size. I keep it but not sure why. Can not put up a picture why but is like a Wilcox
I collect vintage sewing machines and love restring them. I can't sew and have no interest in learning to!
Ok I need to know this person. I have 2 small and 5 regular size vintage machines not to mention the 2 I sew with
Starbucks 'You Are Here' Mugs- Collected From All The Places I've Been, With A Couple From Places I Haven't Given To Me As Gifts
My favorite one is the San Diego mug, which is my hometown
i didnt even know this was a thing! (I have never been to Starbucks)
Load More Replies...Which one is your favorite?

I Collect Nostalgia From My 80’s/90’s Childhood
I really need to get a nice display case for the My Little Pony collection.
Artwork. More Spread Around The House And Probably Another Dozen Or So Prints Waiting To Be Framed. I Need More Walls!
Fountain Pens. This Is An Older Photo, I Have Quite A Few More Now.
There's something about a beautiful writing instrument but I can't put my finger on why. Lovely collection.
They feel so perfect in your hand when you're writing. Like you should be writing only poetry with that pen.
Load More Replies...Do you have any Mont Blanc pens? A coworker told me she owned one for SIXTEEN YEARS! Then she lost the pen. :(
This is great ! My son is autistic and he's been collecting pens since he was little. Fountain pens are his favorite
I Collect Gemstones From All Over The World!
My husband brought some back from the middle east. Probably worthless but beautiful just the same
My Spoon Collection From When I Started Traveling Around 1970. Very First One Was Rhode Island. There Are Three More Walls Like This In My Dining Room. Cuba Is My Favorite
That's what I love about the spoons. They don't cost much and so darn easy to pack.
Load More Replies...I have a collection like this. Not as big, not even close, but most I inherited from a great aunt.
these have no value and are almost never made of sterling. all our grandmas collected them and they are everywhere. I run estate sales and we can't give these things away.
My Grandad had one of those boards with a collection of spoons. I'm not sure where they ended up after he died.
I Have Over 1000 Penguin Related Items. I've Been Collecting Them Since I Was Less Than 2 Years Old. These Are Just The Ornaments.
Yes! I dressed up as Pingu for World Book Day, as I also had a Pingu book!
Load More Replies...Tomorrow is Mother's Day . I lost my mom a few years ago so I've been a little sad this week. My mom collected penguins too! I have her collection now. Thank you for making me smile thinking of my mama today
I display all my penguin paraphernalia in one room. I call it my penguiporium.
I hope you have the king of penguins somewhere. Feathers McGraw, the evil penguin from Wallace and Gromit!
Vinyl Lps And 45's
Same. And we listen to vinyl every night. I truly enjoy it! Nice collection!
1,685 Funko Pops (Many Not Pictured) W/ 82 More Preordered Between Now & September
Maybe but it's clean and neat and his house isn't falling around him so live and let live.
Load More Replies...What's the point of being rude simply because someone enjoys collecting something that doesn't interest you? If the collector isn't hurting you, or most likely anyone at all, how about saying something encouraging?
That's where a dining table would normally go. To the left there's a wall over half covered floor to ceiling with Pops as well. There also a few in the hallway.
Load More Replies...I have 4! Bucky Barns, Captain America, Groot, & Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Bucky is my favorite :)
Teacups From Thrift Stores. I Have Two Favorites. The One Commemorating King George Vi And Queen Elizabeth’s Visit Canada In 1939 ($8.00 At A Thrift Store In Winthrop, Wa), And The One Commemorating Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation June 02, 1953 ($5.50 At A Thrift Store In Spokane, Wa).
Oh brilliant, I like these and thrift stores the best place to buy them. I presume a Thrift store is what we call a charity shop in the UK? I had an Edward the V111 coronation cup but he was never crowned and some idiot broke it.
It seems they’re pretty similar. They both rely on donations from the public, but a thrift store in the US can either benefit a charity or be a for-profit business, and is usually staffed by paid employees . It’s my understanding that a charity shop always supports a charitable purpose and is often run by volunteers. Is that correct?
Load More Replies...They look wonderful, but in my house, I would have to keep score who was breaking more, my nephews or my cats. You must have a very peaceful home. Good for you!
Not peaceful at all! Three cats and two dogs (and three clumsy humans). Many breakables have fallen victim to kitties pushing things off tables or a dog’s Tail of Fury. These and the other teacups are locked in the cabinet.
Load More Replies...Oh hey I collect tea cups too! thrift stores are the best to find them :D
Oh my goodness! You would like all the royalty China I inherited from my grandma then!
Just to add to the confusion, if a thrift shop is attached to something like mine is, Hospice care, the only paid employees are the asst. manager and manager. The rest are volunteers.
Yoga Pants... Lots And Lots Of Yoga Pants (This Is About Half Of Them...)

Late 19th And Early 20th Century Engineering & Technical Books
That's quite the item to have in their library! My oldest book is from 1856, and anything much older is very difficult to come by in the US.
Load More Replies...Oh, man. I have some books that belonged to my grandfather. They'd be perfect for you. I've been looking for someone suitable to pass them to, they're no interest to me. Mostly steam engineering and the like. I'm not up with Bored Panda's rules, can you post contact details or send each other messages? I'd love to give you these books
I have one such book, which includes a description of electric arc welding as being very new. It predicts that whole ships could one day be built using electric arc welding!
I checked, My oldest metalworking book is from 1901, and shows ideal applications for electro-welding are "continuous streetcar rails, refrigeration piping in ice-making plants, and the production of wagon tire hoops"
Load More Replies...Your collection is beautiful but I dislike the white bookshelf. (just a personal things) An older, bookshelf would really elevate this collection. Lovely either way. Oh, and I like your collection on top of the bookshelf as well.
I built the shelves myself to fit that specific bit of wall. I made them early-on during the pandemic lockdown and proper wood was far too expensive. They are medium-density fiberboard finished in gloss oil paint. Thank you, the brass pieces belonged to my late grandfather.
Load More Replies...My personal favorites are Civil Engineers Reference Book (Trautwine, 1937), Standard Construction Methods (Underwood, 1931), and 500 Things to Make for Farm & Home (Cook, 1944). They are all solid reference books, even today.
Thanks for the reply! One reason I asked was because I had read some very old National Geographics, and in one, they said gorillas were fetocious, aggressive beasts, despite being vegetarian! I suppose engineering gaffes would make themselves known quite soon, however.
Load More Replies...Are they informative or do they contain only old information that no longer applies?
They can be quite informative, or at least provide a different perspective or method for solving a problem. Just because an answer is obsolete doesn't mean it isn't insightful, particularly when it comes to engineering. Especially as a hobbyist, most anything that was cutting-edge in the 1880s can be done at home by someone properly equipped.

Antique Blown Glass De Carlini Christmas Ornaments
I had just one of these that belonged to my Grandmother (around 1945 or so), but then one of my cats knocked it off the tree about 14 years ago and smashed it. I thought I had it securely fastened to the tree, and tucked in a place where I didn’t think she would be able to get it. It completely crushed me. It was my favorite ornament.
I am so sad to hear that. I broke one of mine, which o picked out when I was 12 mo old, and was crushed. But I kept an eye on ebay and eventually found a replacement. I just save the search and check on it every so often.
Load More Replies...I hadn't heard of these but I love them. My husband got me started collecting a new Christopher Radko ornament each Christmas. But these De Carlini are beautiful!
They truly are. I have loved them since my very first Christmas, 1972!
Load More Replies...We do. We have two, but they are good as long as I hang them high. One doesn't care, the rest on play with the bottom ornaments, so we hang safe ones down there

I'm sorry. I lost my partner too. I'm glad you have those to cherish
Thank you and sorry for your loss too, it's a tough thing to have go through.
Load More Replies...There are a few shops in my city center that I visit with my daughter as she collects japanese plushies and they sometimes have some xenomorphs in so I can never resist, lol.. and now my local music shop (HMV) has started selling the smaller eaglemoss figurines. This is me, but I just LOVE to take a book in hand, not in mob(sorry if it sounds rude)
Load More Replies...I think, based off of the books pictured above, that you’ll like these ones. Try the Eragon series, by Christopher Paolini, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, and The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Stewart.
My grandpa had well over 5000 novels. he read so much. When he passed away my family got some, but so many had to be sold. My estimate was about 7300 novels. you better get a big house or just lots of storage.
I stopped collecting due to space issues. But there is no other feeling like sitting in your own library and browsing for books to read or reread. I'm at 7000 give or take a few hundred. Actually after my divorce there's room to spare, but collecting isn't the fun it used to be. Most books were collected before 'internet'. Going to towns, raiding the second hand book stores, never knowing what you would find. Having ecstatic joy finding the last part of a series. This joy is gone. Bookstores are gone. If I want a book I google and download it. Al the fun is out of it. Luckily the joy of reading stayed.
Load More Replies...May I make a recommendation? Read Betty Smith, most especially A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. It's an epic coming-of-age story set at the turn of the 20th century. One of the best I've read.
I have a collection of The Little Prince. Books, collectibles, and two tattoos
Bandanas
Some go back over 40 years, like tbe farm aid. Most of them from the last 10 years.
My grandma made me a quilt out of bandanas. It was so cool, one of my old roommates stole it.
Glass Animals
If you would like to laugh VERY hard, listen to the sketch done by the Second City called Glass Mamet. It's Glass Menagerie as if David Mamet wrote it. Mamet wrote Glengary Glenross.
Load More Replies...Is that third shelf a bunch of Tetley Tea animals? I’ve collected those since I was a little girl.
i also think that the ones i have they stopped making. i looked into some of them and i didnt kno wen i got them cuz i was a kid but i have collection sets that go for like $5000 if u find the right collector. i have some on the first and second shelf too. i got each of them for like $1 or $2 so to think a group of 5 is worth 5k is crazy but they r like 26 years old the 2 china cats on the 4th shelf r even older. they r from ww2 time frame. my grandpa got them for my grandma who gave them to my mom who set them up in my room wen i was a baby and now i have them. the duck on the 4th was my dads mothers idk how old it is tho. the unicorn on the 2nd shelf is probably the oldest its a christmas ornament my grandma had since she was a little girl, shes 92 now so that says just about how old it is lol

Load More Replies...Pokémon Cards, I Also Have A Second Case
My uncle gave me that case full of his old cards for my birthday a few years ago
Omg seriously have them checked to see if they are worth anything. I'm not big into Pokémon but am into Magic so same type of after market value. Please don't just toss them find a website that can price them take anything list over $5 to your local Game Store that sells Pokémon and sell them, they will probably also but the bulk (less than $5) too. I say this because I just saw on this site that some kid had to see his collection to save his dog and it broke my heart. Card collection is such a rewarding hobby and if you're not into it you could make someone else's day by giving them the chance to get a card they have always really wanted and you'd be helping a local independent business as most Games Stores are.
Load More Replies...Same. I have like 3 shoeboxes full, plus all my holos(about 200) in a folder.
Sadly I gave away some and threw away the rest of my old 1st ed collection.
I have 3 men size 12 shoeboxes full of common and uncommons.. I have my rares and holos all in protective cases. I've been collecting since the mid 90s. I took a short break in the 2000s. Id estimate my collection in an upgraded condition to be at least 2k. Im planning on getting some of my much older cards graded. That should up the value another 5 or 6 houndred.

I use them as bookmarks. Have a lot of alternative/goth/metal tags stuffed inside books.
Load More Replies...slowely review the tags. Is it for the creativity? the prce, the uniqueness? Hone your skill to a very specific genre. In collecting it is crucial to creat a niche. You will be surprised when you narrow it down..... Manufacture, popularity, where manufactured, hand made labels or printged on the garmit. This could be a cool collection. Identify specifics

Yes, I know what you mean. I think when my mother died I realized I can't take any of it with me. And my family will have to deal with it. Idk, could just be the grief talking.
Load More Replies...It's interesting,a lot of people are collecting a lot of stuff. I wonder, is it some kind of human need to do so? I can imagine, back in the day, the Annas who came before me ,collected rocks, shells, feathers or shiny metals just for the satisfaction to look at them, feel them, maybe lay them down in a specific order or gift them to someone special. What a most pleasant thought 😊
I collect fountain pens. Starting with the one my grandfather who was a doctor used.
I collect stones from all the places I’ve traveled. They are all labeled. I’m going to will the collection to my nieces and nephews with the request that they return the stones to their original location. That way I get to encourage them to see the world, and I get be a small part of their travels after I’m gone.
I collect so many things it's ridiculous. I have been a vintage reseller for many years and now also run estate sales. I collect: Vera Neumann scarves and textiles, vintage purses, vintage printed cotton tablecloths and napkins, vintage kitchenwares, art, mid-century era cats in art and figurines, MCM furniture, CathrineHolm enamelware, antique spatter enamelware, 1950s enamelware(can you tell I like enamelware?) vintage brooches and bangles, 1950s-60s bar ware, mid-century ceramic antelopes, swug glass vases, vintage clothing...there's probably more things but really that's enough. lol Our house looks like a mid-century modern time warp.
I just found a Vera in my drawer. Was my Grams.

Load More Replies...At this point for me, Gray hair and trying to get rid of all the stuff I collected.
Load More Replies...I've never really been bitten by the collection bug. When I have up to 3 or 4 of an item, I usually feel that's enough and I don't need any more.
