This Cat Guided A Lost Man Down A Mountain In Switzerland

One cat is determined to prove that it’s not only dogs that can work as rescue animals.

Redditor sc4s2cg claims he got lost in Switzerland while hiking and eventually ended up in an abandoned town. “I was checking my map to see how I can get back to the hostel, and the only official way down was through a trail that was closed,” he said. Right at that moment a kitty showed up and guided the man to the valley, constantly looking back to check if the tourist was following it.

After sc4s2cg shared his story, others responded about also meeting the same cat in the region (and they even had photos to prove it). Looks like this Swiss guide kitty is taking his duties seriously!

My inner child wants to believe that the cat is some kind of Mountain Spirit that helps lost hikkers and tourists.

My wife had a similar experience but it was a squirrel that led her back to the base of the mountain trail after she had become lost. If the cat grew up in the village I dont doubt that it knew this guy was not supposed to be there and knew where the people (food) were. Animals have proven to be smarter than humans on many occasions, this being one of them. :)

Well, watching the video, it looks to me that the one doing all the "looking back" was the guy, not the cat... Nice little story. Not sure I believe it, though :D

Whatching the video made it clear that the cat followed the guy. Also, he speaks Hungarian, and says several times, that he walks on the closed way, and the cat can follow him if it wants. Even the title means "cat follows (me)". He is quite silly, but fun to listen to :D

Cats often seem to beckon us to follow them, and do stop to wait if we don't seem to be keeping up. My cat does it here at home.

so basically a cat saw him while out and about and then decided to go home, occasionally looking back at the guy following her for some reason he got luck though, meeting her there :)

Apparently in times of great stress humans have a tendency to hallucinate and see beings helping them or pull a Wilson like in Castaway. It is some stranger protective thing our brain does to keep us from losing it. So the cat in the very least provided a calming presence to a scared hiker.
