21 Year-Old Son Buys Car, Mom Contacts Seller To Return Money
What do rude people with a complete lack of self-awareness tell themselves before sleep? ‘You miss every opportunity you don’t take.’ Or at least some version of it. Redditor /u/MetalM1ke has just sold a car to a guy for $4,000 and all seemed well until a week passed and his mom decided to go berserk. Clearly a fan of mafia movies, she contacted /u/MetalM1ke, demanding he returns the majority of the money.
“I had been trying to sell the car for the better part of a month,” /u/MetalM1ke told Bored Panda. “The 21-year-old found me on Craigslist.”
“My first impression of the kid was he had no idea about anything when dealing with BMW’s,” he added. “He really was in over his head but he was so excited I didn’t wanna spoil how great he felt… The negotiation went alright. I lowered the price a little bit ’cause he really wanted the car and he seemed like a nice kid and he said his dad was a gear head. That made me feel better about selling it to him.”
“Little did I know, his mother was a helicopter parent and refused to let her son stand on his own two feet and she was clearly a dilettante when it came to buying or selling cars.” (Facebook cover image: nakhon100)

21 really is not a kid. If he's old enough to have 4k to spend then he's old enough for mummy to stop clinging on. As for her threats - pathetic. I doubt very much her husband is military, she's just saying that to sound scarier. Fail.
At first I thought the same. But then I remembered an article from a psychologist or society researcher or something similar. Dosen't matter. It stated that children nowadays seem to be growing up waaay slower than before. A 16 year old now is behaving like a 13 year old in the 80ies/ 90ties. This is both negativ and positiv in different ways.
Extended adolescence. The ready made meme is the 28 year old living in his parent's basement play video games. I'm not Jewish, not even Jew-ish, but my understanding is that when a lad is bar mitzvahed he is viewed as one entering adulthood and is both expected to act as such and be treated as such. No doubt the learning curve is considered.
My brother was buying and selling motorcycles at 13, then graduated to cars when he was 16. Where has this kid been so far? Under mommy's apron strings apparently. What a f*cked up family!

Why did this post feel the need to include the slam against military spouses?
Totally agree. They will be made up of all sorts of people. I don't think for one minute she was ex-military anyway. Like her son she appears to be allergic to the truth. He's 21 as well - far from being a kid and capable of learning from his own mistakes.
So relieved to not be the only one wondering wtf...
I believe that they may have just been pointing out the preponderance with which crazy people try to say they have ex-military spouses to threaten others, not necessarily that military people are crazy or anything. At least that's how I perceived it.
One person actually says that military wives are 'not the brightest breed of folk'.
I don't think it was about the DMV at all, but hiding from his mother what he actually spent on a car (judging from her reaction). I actually kind of understand hahahaha she seems off her rocker. He probably told the seller it was for taxes to not be embarrassed about his nutty mom
Must be an agressive mother
