Parent Laces Daughter’s Lunch With Laxatives, Knowing It Will Be Stolen, The Plan Works

Parent Laces Daughter’s Lunch With Laxatives, Knowing It Will Be Stolen, The Plan Works

There is a good reason why people are strongly recommended to never irk restaurant staff. Same goes for everyone else whose food you might be enjoying.

A school bully was relentlessly stealing this one girl’s lunch to a point where the parent had to step in. And by stepping in, we mean they messed with the food so that the thief would be caught red… no, brown-handed.

When the school doesn’t even want to deal with a bully, you as a parent might just have to take matters into your own hands

And by that, we mean lacing your kid’s lunch with laxatives, telling her to eat the school lunch instead, and then watching the fireworks

Needless to say, the bully was definitely brought to light, though the parent is now seeking advice on the aftermath

A parent on Reddit recently approached the r/confessions community to share about their daughter’s lunch bully and the subsequent aftermath of their plan to keep him at bay.

The story goes that their daughter has this bully who kept stealing her lunch. The school didn’t want to get involved, i.e. they were seemingly pointing at every other reason and cause besides the bully. So, the parent had to take matters into their own hands.

So, they took the classic approach to shaming bullies and laced the daughter’s lunch with laxatives. They, of course, told the daughter to get cafeteria food, avoiding her own lunch at all costs, but still taking it with her to school as bait.

And bait it did. The daughter told the parent after everything that the bully had a very urgent emergency and ran to the toilet. Now, the bully’s mother is pointing fingers at OP, accusing them of feeding him food with laxatives, meaning that their daughter might be suspended.

It didn’t take long for the post to start racking up upvotes, garnering 2.5K, and for folks to start dishing out advice

One Redditor suggested explaining that the daughter has slight constipation. Hence the laxatives help her deal with it. Others suggested not admitting to anything and feigning ignorance. And yet others suggested mentioning the word negligence to the principal, how nobody’s doing anything about it, maybe taking it to the board. That should show them.

Another Redditor flat out suggested being honest, but wording it in a way that still exposes the bully as a thief: “This wasn’t the first time he’s had to rush to the bathroom because he keeps stealing my daughter’s food. She repeatedly tells me it comes up missing and he’s the first one to flee to the bathroom.”

One thing was definitely something that everyone agreed on: why in the heavens was the boy eating the girl’s lunch to begin with?

Laxatives aren’t bad but like all medication, they too should be used with a certain level of caution

The main idea behind laxatives is to help folks relieve constipation. In short, constipation is when your stool becomes a brick and has trouble navigating the bowels. Usually, changes in diet, exercise, and medicine can both cause but also serve as a simple solution to it.

However, as it is with any medicinal solution, laxatives do come with their own risks. Using laxatives in combination with other contradictory medicine and having complicating medical conditions might lead to some undesired results. Also, giving laxatives to pregnant women and kids under the age of 6. So, read labels and consult doctors before doing that.

Severe complications aren’t common, though. While they can lead to more constipation, dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities, among other more extreme consequences, it’s generally the case with laxative abuse or long-term use, and not a one-off deal.

Whatever the case, be careful. Nobody likes a crappy situation that can become even more so.

So, what are your thoughts on any of this? What would your advice be for the parent? Share your takes and stories in the comment section below!

In good Reddit fashion, folks in the comments had some good, albeit devious, advice to share

So the ladies child is a thief and likely a bully too but instead of wanting to correct the behavior or just owning it she wants to get mad at the bullied child? Laxatives aren’t illegal. I would also feign ignorance, but it’s infuriating hearing about parents with nightmare kids who take no responsibility for them and basically just let them run wild like the animals they have become. If you can’t be responsible don’t be a parent.

Many places don't allow medication at school without signed form. Honestly, I don't think I would have done it this way. Sounds like these are very young kids and it isn't worth the hassle of spiking the food. Definitely would have had several talks with the teacher, principal, and school counselor until my concerns were addressed.

All the people claiming this is assault, poisoning ect have zero understanding of the law. You can prepare your own food how ever you choose. If someone steals and eats it, that is fully their responsibility. This mom is legally in the clear. There is no argument. Thats like saying my kid stole your sandwich but is allergic to gluten. Great, thats on your dumb kid for stealing and eating something he shouldnt have.

Your statement is true. But since her daughter was -specifically told- not to eat the lunch that was packed -and- to buy lunch from the cafeteria, it's pretty obvious that the food was not intended for her to eat. She wanted to teach the bully a lesson and/or find out who the thief was because the school was being negligent. The school should be punished for that, but I think a judge would also point out the other options the mom had besides poisoning the food... Concentrated food coloring in the food to dye the thief's hands/mouth would've worked as proof, for example.

sounds fake but just in case, never say anything. if she gets called in, tell them you provided food to help with constipation your daughter was having, and since her lunches have been going missing you also provided her with money for school food. it is no ones fault but the person who stole the lunch. what would they have done had the kid had a peanut allergy and you'd packed your kid a pb and j? you arent responsible for some other kids bad manners and bad upbringing.

OP'S frustration at the school's unwillingness to deal with a bully is understandable. Her response is not. This situation could have went sideways in so many ways. On the other hand, the bully sounds rather entitled to be accusing his victim's mother of trying to poison him, as if pilfering her lunch was a right. OP would be better off talking to an attorney, then confronting the school board about the bullying.

Definitely that's what I would do. I would go to the school *once* and talk to the Principal and Director of Studies. If they don't solve the problem immediately, the next step is a police report, against the school, the Principal, the DoS and every single teacher who is on duty during lunch for willful negligence, because they've failed to protect my child. Once the s**t hits the fan they can accuse each other or kill each other, I just don't care.

A friend was stealing my codeine from my bathroom so I removed the last four pills and put three laxative pills in their place. Later, we went to the local beach, on a Sunday when the gas station restrooms were locked. Last I saw of him was when I heard him say "oh god!" and ran towards the closed gas station.

All of you saying "he shouldn't have been stealing" are missing the point... Of course it's wrong and of course he should know better, but the mom -knowingly- put -medication- into food that her daughter was -specifically told- not to eat so that it would be available for the bully. If she wanted to catch this kid, food coloring to dye his hands/mouth would have worked just as well without making the kid sh-t himself. She could have used that to go to the school with PROOF not only of his theft, but also of their negligence if she decides to take it to court. The mom is an adult. She shouldn't have to resort to childish tricks like this to catch a kid thief, and she ought to have known better... This was more about revenge than anything, and an adult getting revenge against a little kid is just plain gross.

In the old days before knowing what I know now through medical training, I would have been the first to lmao and say he got what he deserved. But then I learned by seeing it that someone had a permanent and still mild stomach disorder that didn´t make much symptoms of itself other than having the patient get constipation a bit more frequent than would be considered normal. The true cause only being revealed by pure accident. As he was in treatment at the hospital I was working in, someone made a horrific mistake and ordered a laxative given to him. It nearly killed him because he dehydrated so fast that he was on the verge of having blood clutter in his veins. Ever since then, I consider laxatives something to be given only if the doc prescribes it. And no. I don´t know the english name for the disease which is why I haven´t named it, but it is a progressive disease that slowly breaks down the colon and becomes extremely painful over time and is usually discovered somewhat late.
