Motherhood is hard and definitely not always glamorous but in a recent couture shoot Rachel McAdams proved that motherhood can be sexy.
Clad in Versace and breast pumps the new mother showed that while she is a glamorous actress for her being a mom comes first. The glowing actress posed for the cover of Girls.Girls.Girls magazine and was photographed by founder Claire Rothstein. Previously McAdams has kept her personal life mostly private, which is why her pregnancy reveal in November was a surprise to most.
According to the photographer Rothstein, between shots, McAdams “was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding. We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who’s idea it was to take this picture but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more.”

“I know not all moms can breastfeed, and not all babies latch, but when it does work out, celebrate it. It’s natural, beautiful, and f**king hard work. So whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or doing one or both, own it, document it, and help normalize it. This photo of Rachel McAdams was taken by @clairerothstein for @girls.girls.girls.magazine, mine was taken in my office while in the middle of teaching because my breasts were about to explode. It’s not glamorous, and ironically we are both in plaid, but I needed to remember that moment”

And McAdams isn’t the only famous woman seeking to normalize this aspect of motherhood

Share on FacebookEach to their own, and if this is what she wanted to do, then cool, but I'm personally not a fan of needing to photograph and post every aspect of being a mother - I worked and breastfed and pumped but did not feel the need to do this in front of my colleagues - this is very different from breastfeeding in public which is far more discreet than a pump hanging off your exposed breasts - this trend of obsessively needing to photograph everything and put it out there is kind of puzzling to me!
Some times we should keep things private... this was one of those times.
"I will probably NEVER view her as anything else but 'the gal with breast pumps hanging off her chest" Oh, come on! She's a very talented ans successful actress...

Whoa ok, you don't like the picture, that's fine, but comparing breastfeeding with "taking a dump" is disgusting. Do you compare eating with that too? Pumping is still breastfeeding and although I don't think there are many women who would do so in public, this is not the message here! Calm down haters! The intention is to make people more aware about breastfeeding and therefore to challenge the many prejudices people have about it. They're not trying to send women pumping on the streets lol. But women do it IN ORDER FOR THEIR BABIES TO EAT, get used to it.
Load More Replies...So....here's my thing. Breastfed both my babies, the youngest 8.5 months. I TOTALLY support it, and love actresses and models trying to normalize it because there is still such a huge stigma around it. HOWEVER. Rachel McAdams is already over the top gorgeous on a bad day, but to have her looking spectacular with breast pumps I think adds insult to injury for new moms out there who look and feel like C**P and already feel the pressure of measuring up to some ridiculous "ideal". AND I totally disagree with trying to make breastfeeding sexy. It's WONDERFUL, and bonding and beautiful, but not sexy but at all!
I'm having a hard time understanding modern...fashion I guess? I don't mean fashion per se(although I find it weird too, personally I think she has a nice face but the makeup on her makes it look old and ugly=x But to each their own obviously) but this desire to take pictures of everything, even things most private and intimate, show them to the world, call it "a statement of freedom" and get praised for it. Also maybe I'm terribly wrong here and misjudging a really awesome person but I'm having a VERY hard time believing these women do it for their kids or freedom of all the woman of the world or anything like that. To my eyes it just looks like they're crying for attention in loudest ways they can(which I guess is pretty much their job but that does seem a bit too far), even going as far as using their kids for it. For the sake of these kids I hope I'm wrong but here's my awfully negative, soon-to-be-downvoted honest opinion:P
I kinda feel like the fact that breast feeding is considered offensive or whatever, shows that there might be something a little off some place. It is just about the most natural thing ever. Like EVER. Fo' eva, fo' EVA EVA.
Is it me or is bored panda starting to post a lot of these 'shock' or click-bait type of articles... ie. ones where you want to smack the persons in the article?
These pictures are sorta like watching a chef prepare a meal, because that is what they are doing, preparing a meal for thier child. I mean they have whole channels on tv dedicated to preparing meals. And no, there isnt a difference. It's a little weird that eating in public or having a meal prepared for you is shameful or should be secretive untill you can eat solid food. Dont get me wrong, I would actively look to find pictures of people pumping but if the pics are out there, so what? If someone is doing it in a public place, so what?
I bet that if a non-celebrity woman would have done it (taking the pic), your reactions would be much different.
True, i see poor women brestfeed in public all the time.....when the baby wants food, it wants food.

I think a lot of people totally missed the point. If you don't like the post, don't look at it. I personally don't care about it, but she was making a statement, not trying to get attention solely to get attention. The comparison of using the restroom to feeding your child is absurd. She has the right to post whatever she likes, and she shouldn't be censored. So many people are so sensitive. I hope that none of those who shamed her for this consider themselves progressive.
Are people not allowed to have negative opinions on something these days? What happened to freedom of speech? We're all here to browse and share our views on things, not just boost everyone's ego. There is nothing wrong with saying we don't like something or agree with it as long as it's kept civil.

Welcome to the world of making a big deal out of everything, people get bothered by the stupidest c**p.

This is just f*****g gross. Probably why she doesn't get any movie deals anymore. I agree breastfeeding is natural but so is peeing and people aren't allowed to do that in public. So find a secure place and take care of the child's needs. Also...any good parent knows you should have probably fed your baby before you left. Your all f*****g psychopaths.
Enough. You breastfeed, it is normal we know that can we get on with our lives now. I didnt breastfeed at all, and this stuff just makes the rest of us feel s**t. Feed your kids thats all we ask, dont care how!
I don’t drive, but that doesn’t mean I complain about pictures of people driving. Not everything is about you.

Well, they milk cows like this, don't they? I think these photos are degrading to women and make them look like nothing but a milk cow. The aggressive looks on their faces also makes them look like they are just daring you to say something. Does nothing for women.
Pumping milk is super common. There isn’t anything degrading about it.
