21-year-old hero student who tackled a gunman at his college (U.N.C. Charlotte). Only he and one other student were killed (although there were other injuries.) Riley's actions absolutely prevented more deaths. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_University_of_North_Carolina_at_Charlotte_shooting

To those unaware, the “absolute unit” meme is a fairly new concept. It first appeared on December 13, 2017, when a Twitter user named @mrreptoid shared a picture of British hotelier David Morgan-Hewitt standing next to the Queen of England. He wrote, “In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit.”

But the term started gaining popularity after the Museum of English Rural Life tweeted a picture of a ram with the caption “Look at this absolute unit” in 2018. Since then, a lot of photos of colossal animals, plants, and food have been shared online. Clearly, many people love bigger versions of things, as the Absolute Units group has amassed a whopping 1.7 million followers.

In Lord of the Rings Online, hobbits can have the profession of burglar, which is similar to rogue in other games. One of the skills is "trip", which costs the opponent a recovery turn (and the graphic is of the opponent falling over). This skill works on animals, too. There's a point in the game where pretty much every animal you kill is an aurochs. I absolutely loved taking my burglar out cow-tipping.

I am a mixed practice veterinarian, and one of my favorite clients has 2 Bison (Hulk & Thor) that he hand raised/ bottle fed. They are so sweet & if you scritch their faces, they'll lick you (their tongues are so weird!) and make the most satisfied noises lol. I definitely don't recommend doing that to random bison though.

Horses have an amazing awareness of hurting things. I had one who stood still in a field (I could see him from my kitchen window) for far too long, if you know what I mean. I went out to check on him, he wouldn't move. Pushed his shoulder, his hip, he swayed but would not move. He was usually very obliging. I happened to look down underneath his belly and there was a tiny kitten there in the long grass. He was that kind. I miss him.

I got scrapped off the back of a Belgian that was so tall you had to basically lay down on his back or get hit in the face by the top of the barn door opening. Nobody told me and I was not paying attention so one minute I'm riding the biggest horse of my life and the next I'm starting up at the sky and he starting at me like "Why are you down there?". Every time I visited after that and road him he would stop and check I still on his back before going in. So polite.

Many of us are fascinated by objects that are not the size we normally expect them to be. The internet loves small and big versions of, well, anything and everything. Even Hollywood adores the concept of miniatures and giants.

The movie “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” where an inventor accidentally shrinks 4 kids, was so popular they made a sequel for it. In the new film, “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid,” an experiment goes wrong, causing a toddler to grow to an enormous size. But it’s not just the cinema. In contemporary art, oversized installations make the experience more engaging and fun for people.

The spelling 'draft' is not a corruption of draught, anymore than 'plow' is a corruption of plough. This was Daniel Webster's reform of spelling for American English. He's been dead for a couple centuries, so take it up with him when you get to heaven.

Only if you catch them fully off guard in mating season, or if you hit them with your car. Generally, moose stay away from people - they'll smell you and leave long before you would know they're there.

Don’t swerve if there’s a deer on the road, you’ll probably just hurt yourself. But if it’s a moose, SWERVE, going into a ditch will probably do less damage than a tank with antlers.

Weighing roughly 110 tons, this impressive sculpture is as heavy as 15 adult elephants!

My guess is the people who dumped it thought it was a nice dorgie, then a houseguest pointed out what it really was and scared the c**p out of the owners who envisioned their kids being eaten some day. I don’t necessarily attribute bad intentions to ‘em; coulda been simply a stupid error, and I DO think stupid people did the right thing giving it up. The kill shelter? I’m hoping that’s all they had available to ‘em, ‘cause if they meant for that animal to be killed … For that, I think they’re 🫏🕳️s and karma will get ‘em.

A true redneck joke from back when I was with my boyfriend- "If you can see your empty beer can pile from space, you might be a redneck." At one point, before he moved, you could see a pile of empty beer cans outside his trailer. When we finally took it to the scrap yard, we got a good chunk of money for it.

Unlike these unique creations, some “absolute units” don’t last forever. The Guinness World Record for the largest pizza is held by YouTube star Airrack, along with Pizza Hut. It took almost 4,948 pounds of pizza sauce and 8,800 pounds of cheese to create the 14,000-square-foot pepperoni pie. To put that into perspective, it’s roughly as big as 3.5 standard basketball courts.

David Graves, Pizza Hut’s CEO, told Reuters that the food was not wasted; as soon as the pizza was documented for Guinness, they cut 68,000 slices and donated it to local food banks.

And unfortunately without tail, which causes spine problems, balance problems, limits communication, fending off flies from his delicate parts. Think "no hands and arms" to get an idea. The tail is part of the spine. Take a long stick, it can be bent easily. Shorten it by a third - it cannot be bent that far anymore. Cutting off tails came in fashion by nobiluty, who wanted a clear view of the genitals of their horses. They then invented the story of "tails getting caught in... = dangerous, so cut it off". Farmers just braided the tails, no big deal. Cutting the tails off for fashion is forbidden in several countries. If it is a medical necessity, the vet will preserve as much as posdible and the horse gets a substitute (sort of wig). Edit: I live in draft horse county and own two, caring for three horses. The only thing missing are the testicles of the guy. This is debatable, too, of course. However, when mixing horses this is connected with birth control and to prevent dominance fights.

Percherons do not all "transition to a gray coat" from a black coat as they get older. Some horses do go gray as they get older, but it's not "all" black horses nor is it "all" Percherons. Also, I'm not sure this is even the same horse - the hooves are different colors and the foreleg cannons look like they're differently shaped.

1 year ago (edited) Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

The vast majority of Percherons who are born black turn grey as they grow until they become completely white. Afterwards, Pernille perfectly pointed out that her hooves did not change color but were greased. This horse's name is "High Caliber Pay Per View", a Percheron born at Pennwood Stud in Toronto, Ohio in 2007, he would currently be in Colombia, at least if he is still alive. Due to increasing demand, many items are sold in giant versions commercially. Oversized stuffed animals like teddy bears make for a great present. Many parks and public places have extra-large versions of classic games like chess and jenga. People even use giant blow-up decorations during the holiday season to make their house stand out. The fashion industry also has an oversized trend that can be called “fashionable absolute unit.”

He's a professional bodybuilder when not selling food. Here he's dressed as a Vietnamese folk story character, Mai An Tiem, who "found" the first watermelon. Edit: it was part of a photoshoot during the Lunar New Year where it's considered good luck to give out watermelon; he doesn't normally sell watermelon. Though he did actually sell watermelons that day, not just do a few photos. Nor is he Vietnamese... he's the Korean owner of a local fitness gym who loved the concept and legend of Mai An Tiem and embraced the culture wholeheartedly.

Mega-large versions of everyday objects can be amusing. Imagine owning an extra-large makeup palette; it would have all kinds of beautiful colors. Or a very big bag for the airport. You could dump your chargers, beauty tools, snacks, and everything else in it.

But having too much of something is not always a good idea. Digging into an unusually large box of cupcakes could give you a stomachache. Large-sized animals also face challenges like mobility issues and predator vulnerability as they are easily visible. They may also suffer joint issues and heart problems because of their size.

Depending on species, location etc. they can be a large as 69–79 kg., 152–174 lb. (Central Russia). or as small as 12 kg/26 lb. Average, European wolves weigh 38.5 kg /85 lb. North American wolves 36 kg/79 lb. Indian and Arabian wolves 25 kg/55 lb. Females in any given wolf population typically weigh 2.3–4.5 kg/5–10 lb. less than males. Wolves weighing over 54 kg/119 lb. are uncommon, though exceptionally large individuals have been recorded in Alaska and Canada. 105–160 cm/41–63 in. in length and 80–85 cm/31–33 in. at shoulder. In my childhood home we had huuuge bumblebees that lived in a little hole in the wall next to the front door. I miss them, they sounded like little attack helicopters and were super friendly, it was always a sure sign of spring when you started hearing that loud buzz and you'd see those big fluffy butts bumbling around ♥️ Edit to add (because I'm a nerd) that there are around 250 species of bumblebees in the world, from teeny tiny to big chonks like this one

My nephew with Autism loves all things science. He loves watching Kids Learning Tube on YT. They showed different size of hearts of animals, smallest to largest, and a human/heart for comparison. He got terrified of the whale's heart and it's size to the point he stopped watching TV for a good long while. He eventually got past it , but it took maybe a good year. He's pretty proud of himself he grew out of it.

What, this is the cetacean saviour, like "a Jesus Christ" of whales, or is he the true messiah, in whale form? I need to know, I owe him 20 bucks!

While I agree with you, absolutely, it does offer it protection from people who would chip it apart either on purpose or accidentally.

They need to qualify their claim to the largest yet found. I find it hard to believe the earth isn't hiding more mammoths. This is just one needle in a haystack that probably has some knitting needles in there.

The sign says it’s the biggest quartz cluster “on display.” So it is appropriately qualified.

Not to burst your bubble, but technically watermelons and cucumbers are the same thing and can pollinate each other 😅 Kind of like varieties of apples - yeah, some are red, others green, but they're still the same "species" :)

Can tell it's a watermelon by the skin.
