Ben Affleck Didn’t Want Relationship With Jennifer Lopez On Social Media But Learned To ‘Compromise’
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shared little-known insights about their romance in her new documentary, ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told.’ And as he opened up, the Gone Girl actor revealed that there was one special request he made when he and his now-wife reignited their love in 2021 after a gap of about 20 years.
Ben said he wanted to keep their relationship private and away from the scrutinizing eyes of social media. However, the actor knew that it wasn’t fair to expect Jennifer to do so, and he said in the documentary that they eventually found a way to make it work.
“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media,’” the actor said. “Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain, and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’”

“We’re just two people with different kinds of approaches trying to learn to compromise,” he added.
Jennifer also opened up about how there are some things Ben is not comfortable with, but he is still supportive of her doing the things she loves.
“I don’t think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this,” she said. “But he loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s gonna support me in every way he can because he knows you can’t stop me from making the music I made… he doesn’t want to stop me. But that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being the muse.”
The prying eyes of the media were harsh on Ben and Jennifer back when they were in a relationship during their younger years. They nearly said “I do” in 2003 but called off their wedding just days before the ceremony.

“Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding,” Jennifer recalled in the new documentary. “We had a big wedding planned—14 ushers and bridesmaids—and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure.”
Ben believes it was the massive scrutiny around their private lives that led to their breakup.
“When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was this massive amount of scrutiny around our private life,” Ben said.
Although Ben initially had his qualms about sharing bits and pieces of their personal life on social media, he and Jennifer seemed to have found a balance as the On The Floor hitmaker occasionally shares pictures and videos of them together.
