Yesterday, on the 12th of November, one of the most famous American superhero comic book writers and publishers, Stan Lee, passed away. Alongside other legends - Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko - he created such iconic heroes as Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Black Panther, and many more Marvel characters, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered by generations to come.
We feel that there's no need to list all of Stan Lee's accomplishments further, but in memoriam, we'd like to share a couple of random facts about the Marvel universe creator. Before being known as Stan Lee, Stanley Martin Lieber wrote obituaries for celebrities and created training films for the army together with Dr.Seuss. And of course, you know the fact that Stan Lee always has a cameo in every Marvel superhero movie, but that is actually a part of his contract with the enterprises. Also, up until his death, Stan Lee received a hefty 1 million dollars each year just for being himself. That's what you get for being a legend!
Fans all over the world are already sharing tribute art in honor of this legendary man, and even Hollywood celebrities like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. expressed their condolences. The Marvel comics Stan Lee created were a massive part of many peoples' childhoods, and even though he passed away, a warm memory of him and his kindness will forever stay with us.

Stupid ninja onions, always showing up at the most inopportune times.
heres my hand drawn pic of stan lee. he was my hero llcooljj-5...324ba7.jpg
Cutest picture on internet today, it should be #1. Edit : Thank you everyone for making it #1.
did anyone else notice that there is an awesome youtube channel called funnypig who posts literally the same things on boredpanda?
There are a lot of those channels! It kinda triggers me tbh
Load More Replies...RIP Stan Lee you will be remembered by millions as a visionary, a creator of dreams, and a superhero
not to be and a*****e, but this isn't a tribute to Stan Lee... It's a panel of Cable's funeral in X-men comics... but fans pick it to honor stan because it has no speech bubbles
The moment when good and bad take a pause from fighting to remember their creator
The One Above All is now Under. Farewell Stan. Your legacy will continue as long as the world still exists.
like i said after playing one unofficially for decades stan is now a real watcher.
I was dealing with this until I saw this, now Im a slobbering mess.
Man i just choked on this one, i shouldn't be looking at these at 3am on a night shift, i get very emotional.
Darn onions, always getting their juices in my eyes! (Wait, I'm not around onions?) Darn... Wind. Always getting in my eyes. ╥﹏╥
THANKS to this very imaginative man, millions of children and millions of adults, who still have an inner child, now have a whole multiverse to play in. Rest in Peace Mr. Lee and THAN K YOU.
His co-creator actually - the other one was Steve Ditko (he also died this year).
Load More Replies...Love this one. How much this expresses. We all relate to that feeling of loss and how your world crumbles when something bad happens to someone you love.
a big thanks should go to Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko for that...? just sayin...
It feels appropriate to add a Captain America quote here. "Language!" But, I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment.
Load More Replies...The artist is amazing look at his work on you tube and how he did this .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSFYOzyDdvU
we will miss all the cameos........maybe they will just plug you in...;;;;;
Valhalla! Of course, myth has it that Odin took a famous poet (Snorri Sturluson, I think) to Valhalla to entertain the Thanes, so of course a person so impactful on Today's culture society would beling there!!
Sturlason. And wasn`t it Åsgård, where the Æser lived, not Valhall, where those who die in battle go?
Load More Replies...*gulps* and I actually read that in his voice... You'll be sorely missed Stan...
Have to correct this, since this edit crops out the original artist's signature: https://www.deviantart.com/ullcer/art/Spiderman-crying-103303385
Thanks!! Why are people doing this?! Just post the goddamn picture..
Load More Replies...I’m gonna miss them. But hopefully whoever makes any Marvel movie from now on they still include Mr. Lee!
Load More Replies...I need one more picture. Of him and Joan, with their wings, up at the Golden Gates. *sniff*
If there's anyone who's taking this hard it's Deadpool, he's the only one that was actually aware of Stan and the other writers, he's the only one that know's that all the Marvel characters are just puppets in a play and he just lost the greatest puppet master of all time.
There's a video going around Facebook showing a guy in a Spiderman outfit fighting with some guy dressed as Jesus. The caption is something like, "Spidey fighting Jesus to get Stan Lee back."
I didn't realize just how much I would miss him till just now, looking at this. No more stories, no more cameos,. He first appeared in my geek life when I was 7 years old on those X-Men tapes you got from Pizza Hut. His creations and his universe have always been apart of my life, but that was when I encountered the creator for the very first time. and he was totally awesome.
I've heard (but haven't a cite) that he recorded several cameos ahead of time, when his health started to fail. Still not looking forward to the "In memoriam" screen on the next film, though. :(
Load More Replies...Thank you for sharing this. This was one of 2 x artworks commissioned for Stan himself late last year and he was incredibly happy with the result. The final art version of this was set out as a traditional movie poster... StanLee_Po...6d9f06.jpg
Nope. It’s to make sure no one uses w/o artist permission.
Load More Replies...(not every artist draws )Stan Lee Everybody needs a hero to look up to A mentor of thought and deed Someone you can turn to in trouble Someone to who your soul can bleed Super heroes are no different They have that craving as well And in his heart he led them As his story lines did tell As their creator he was seldom visible But was always quickly seen Every time a super hero Appeared on the silver screen He has left the world of super comics The heroes will stand and shed a tear Their mentor their hero their creator Stan Lee is no longer here He leaves a following far and wide His work will forever last Godspeed and farewell Stan Lee We will continue to carry your task
Terrific picture! This whole collection is really cool. I'm glad he knew in his lifetime how much people loved him, rather than it only being expressed after he was gone.
He's just missing his wings. He's made so many people happy on earth, there's no doubt he's earned them!
In the old comics called 'Stan's Soapbox' he would use catchphrases at the end like 'nuff said!' but the competition kept stealing it. He then wanted something recognisable so that they wouldn't take it. He then starting using 'Excelsior!', in Latin meaning 'ever upward'. No one ever stole it and it became his catchphrase! So if you go to some Spider-Man Games, at the end of successful missions, you hear his voice yell "Excelsior!" Or in Avengers Age Of Ultron, at the very end, he yells out "Excelsior!" And so on.
Load More Replies...Do not grieve. Smile and remember. He led a full remarkable life and left us treasure.
I think it would be awesome and a fitting tribute if Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Josh Brolin, and pick any Spider-Man (lol) were pall bearers at his funeral.
this one is from Pictoline... https://www.facebook.com/pictoline/photos/a.1611821172410355/2293919217533877/?type=3&theater
Yeah, Bored Panda is getting lazy--their source is just another compilation of Stan Lee tribute pics. Thanks for posting the original source.
Load More Replies...It’s not just the physical weight he would have to burden. Stan Lee helped create some of the most iconic characters in the comic universe.
Load More Replies...The wit, the muscles, the genius and the gorgeous redhead. That pretty much seems like heaven to me.
Just wanted to share: 1986 issue. My son received it as a gift when he was a child. 20181114_1...e20de4.jpg
Don't grieve, child. You're my gift and legacy to the world. Carry on and, as you always have, make me proud.
I think that might be his life line. Start is light to represent when he is born, then mid life is bold and strong to fade out when he gets old and the passes away....
Simplistic in design. It uses one continuous line to create the face. Someone tell me what art style this is?
I think its just called One Line art. If you look it up in Google or pinterest you get many examples of the style!
Load More Replies...I think it would be cool if Marvel created a new hero named Stan Lee. We could maybe have a competition to come up with his powers.
This one's also a photoshop that crops out the original artist's signatures: 345424_201..._large.jpg
Problem with this is that Stan Lee Lieber was Jewish and therefore a cross would not make any sense!
Well, its meant to be a tribute, so I am sure this will comfort some as well.
Load More Replies...Any Spanish-speaking Pandas out there? I'd love to know what this says. Thanks!
No Cascão... but Stan Lee is present em each hero he created, each story he wrote. Thank you, Stan Lee! Excelsior!
Load More Replies...My bad--thanks for the correction, Mariana!
Load More Replies...This one just shows the love for his characters in his eyes.
A new character taken from DC's Mister Miracle mini series in 2018 that it's obviously inspired by Stan The Man Lee... it even uses his catchphrase
I don't think it's a new character. That's a Rebirth version of Funky Flashman, who was an older DC character created by Jack Kirby, who based Funky entirely on Stan Lee...
Load More Replies...Just watching "The Haunting of Hill House" Stan Lee can haunt us all forever. This quote is appropriate: "You know when you take one of your pictures, you capture something forever, just the way it is? Stories do that too. So when things.. When we die, we turn into stories. And every time someone tells one of those stories, it's like we're still here, for them. WE ARE ALL STORIES IN THE END." Stan told stories and will be in stories for us forever. Just the way it is. Face Front Effendi!!
Some pretty AMAZING ARTIISTS out there. Thank you all for your tribute to this wonderful man.
SpaghettiToesDad on instagram did one that totally needs to be on here! https://www.boredpanda.com/artist-comics-tribute-death-marvel-stan-lee/?cexp_id=13614&cexp_var=3&_f=featured
RIP Stan Lee. You will be missed. Thank you for brightening the childhood days of so many. Also, has anyone else noticed the onion cutting ninja infestation all over BP? They’re practically crawling all over this post. F**k them. I’m out of tissues.
Yesterday when he died, I was so devestated. In science class, we stopped learning for a day and instead wrote goodbye letters to him. I'll really miss him. 😭
Rest In Peace Stan. Stan really was the man. I remember when I heard the news, I couldn’t believe it. He was a very amazing man. We’ll all miss him. May he rest in Valhalla.
I hated his cameos. Complained about them every time. EVERY. TIME. Now that he's gone I know I'm going to miss them. EVERY. TIME.
He was a true hero, with super powers that enabled him to make people happy. People of any country in the world and of any age. If the afterlife exists, I hope he's having fun. For us, he shall live forever within the world he has build, alongside Ditko and Kirby, and everyone else who contributed to this magical heroic universe.
