In the Australian version, they had photos of some missing older teens from overseas who had disappeared while backpacking here. It was found much later that they were some of the many victims of the Backpacker Mur.derer, Ivan Milat -_-

High school: all issued text books had to have a paper cover on them within a week of being issued. Teachers would check and there would be penalties for non-compliance. We used to make our covers out of brown paper grocery bags. It was an art. The school sold school-themed covers but those were just so much wasted money for us cool kids. Some kids went all artsy with yarn, magazine photo clippings pasted on, buttons and such. Silly, but kinda fun.

My siblings and I had one back in the 70's but it didn't have an enclosed unit. It was all open. It was made of mostly metal. You had to be very careful with it or you could be burned with it. The molds we had were of spiders, snakes and other insects.
