Kaa'awa East North East Shore Of Oahu, Hawaii
White Sands National Park, New Mexico
It's a lot of fun to go here. You can leap off the top of a dune and land in the sand. The sand looks like snow but tastes significantly less good if you get it in your mouth.
Crater Lake, Oregon
Sequoia National Park
If you are in the north of California, you really shouldn't miss Lassen Volcanic National Park. You'll see all sorts of geothermal activity, mountains, trees. It is about 450 miles (725 km) north of Sequoia. It used to be a lot less crowded than Sequoia, but I think people are catching on.

Oak Alley Plantation, Louisiana
We have a beautiful oak. She has a staircase built in. She looks like the Whomping Willow. The power company came and started literally swinging chainsaws at her. They were not professionals. They were crazy! They basically decapitated her and left a limb that grew up through the power line just hanging there. She's still beautiful and now she is growing with a vengeance to take her revenge. The neighbors have one too with a historical sign that says "500 year old oak" and they did the same thing to their tree.

It's really nice, but know where you are going to go before you arrive. It is not always easy to find an inexpensive place to access the lake.
