Inspired by the Superhero Lamp that was featured on Bored Panda a few months ago, we decided to make our own “Alien Xenomorph lamp”. This DIY project was a little pricier to build than the original, but was totally worth it IMO. Makes for a fun weekend Project.

Step 1: Get high-quality Action Figures. We got ours on sale on ebay, made by a company called NECA. These action figures are a piece of art by themselves. I had a hard time deciding if I should even open them from their cases.

Step 2: We used a combination of super glue, E6000 resin, masking tape in multiple stages to create a composition we liked. This step took us a few days, since we had to wait for the glue to cure properly.

Step 3. Apply a generous coat of Plastic adhesive white Primer in multiple coats. Avoids paint bleed through and gives the whole piece a clean finish to start the next phase.

Step 4: Apply a few coats of high-quality Black spray paint.

Step 5: After the paint dried and we made sure all the nooks and carnies were coated properly, then we applied two coats of high gloss lacquer to make the surfaces all nice and shiny. Though I personally like a matte finish on my projects, the high gloss finish adds more drama with the light dancing on its various intricate surfaces. Plus, the Xenomorph’s heads looks best when they are shiny.

Step 6: Sit back and enjoy your own little work of art.
