Most of us find architecture fascinating. The built environment around us reflects the history and culture of a place that can shape our experiences and perceptions of an area. However, not all the buildings stand the test of time and many are left to decay. For some, they become unwanted ghosts of the past; for others, they are objects of mystery and awe.
“Abandoned Beauties” is a Facebook group dedicated to celebrating and sharing the beauty of old deserted places. With over 808 thousand members, this place is a treasure trove for all the lovers of urban exploration (urbex). We have gathered a collection of gorgeous images of forgotten structures. Moore Hall, County Mayo. During the Irish famine, the owner paid for food for all his tenants and refused to evict anyone for non-payment of rent, unlike many of the other Irish landowners. Not a single tenant of his died during the famine. The hall was burnt down in the 1920s by the IRA, it's just a facade now, with only the external stonework remaining.

Not abandoned. This was ransacked by Henry VIII during England’s Reformation when he turned Protestant just so he could ply der all the wealth from all the monasteries and abbeys to fill his coffers.

This is Colin's Barn in Wiltshire. Colin was a stained glass artist and farmer, and he built this himself using stones and cobbles he found on his land. It wasn't meant to be lived in, he built it as a store for hay and added dovecotes for birds, so they were the only occupants, but he still made it look pretty with stained glass windows. He later sold his land to a local quarry business, and they don't allow visitors as its private land.

This is on the Isle of Wight, it used to be part of a holiday camp in the 1970s and built as a children's playhouse. No one lived in it, its mostly fibreglass.

NOT abandoned! It's one of Northern Ireland's biggest tourist attractions, and the road is in use every day. Its between two little villages, Stranocum and Armoy, and a minute away from the main A44 (main trunk road).

It by the artist Lars Van de Goor. The photography of trees are real but windows and other things are photoshoped. Its art not a true representation of the "buildings"

Not an actual motorcycle, created from bits and pieces of things like fences, wheelbarrows, tractors, etc. Only a few things here actually came from a bike, the headlight, the mirror, maybe the fuel line.

If you like this sort of thing, look up "the proper people" on YouTube. They explore closed/abandoned places. Sometimes they're trespassing, mind you, but they accept the risks and don't vandalize anything.
