Best Voices from All Over the World

Moscow’s Spring A Cappella Festival will be held as part of Moscow Seasons’ Urban Events Series. When the competition was first organized in 2017, contestants from 12 countries participated. By 2018, a cappella singers from 16 countries came to Moscow to compete.

This year, some 260 applications have been received. With 95 percent processed, 195 singers, bands, choirs, and ensembles from 26 countries are now set to take part in Moscow’s spectacular musical show! These include participants from Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Finland, Israel, the USA, Puerto-Rico, Paraguay, China, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, South Africa, Namibia, and Turkey.

Not to mention the contestants from Russia, who will come from all over the country, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Omsk, Blagoveshchensk, Volgograd, Krasnoyarsk, Rostov-on-Don, Vladikavkaz, Chuvashia, the Rostov Region, Astrakhan, the Chechen Republic, Tolyatti, and Voronezh, to name but a few locales!

All musical genres and styles, from folk and blues to gospel and K-Pop, will be represented on the festival’s stages, providing something for even the most demanding music-lover to enjoy at our open-air gigs!

This year, contestants will compete in four nomination categories: 1 to 3 people who can use additional sound equipment with Live Looping functionality, >2 people, >5 people, and >9 people.

The largest musical group to perform will be the Mlada Academic choir from Perm, which has 27 singers! The Naama women’s ensemble from Israel will be the largest choir from abroad.

More than a few singers will be coming to the festival for the second or even third time. Festival-goers will be able to enjoy The Quintessence group from Georgia for a third year in a row, as well as performances by German band ONAIR, last year’s winner in its category. The K-pop band Maytree from South Korea, as well as many other past participants, have also decided to relive their magical Moscow music experience, but nearly 75% of the foreign participants this year will be competition newbies, so there are many names to discover!

Stages All Over the City

Moscow Spring A Cappella Festival visitors are welcome to enjoy performances both inside and outside the city center. Stages will be set up on Revolution and Tverskaya Squares, as well as Kamergersky Lane, Kuznetsky Most, and Novy Arbat Street, just to name a few venues.

There will also be venues at two of Moscow’s most popular recreation and tourist spots – Gorky Park and VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy).

Among the festival’s most extraordinary venues will be the balconies of the capital’s buildings, including one on the Savoy Hotel on Rozhdestvenka Street and another on the Nespresso boutique on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street. Of course, stages like this can’t accommodate large choirs, but they’re a perfect place for solo singers and small groups to create a fairytale atmosphere by singing for the listeners on the city streets below!

An exciting venue will debut this year at one of the city’s most trendy new meeting places – the Depot food court on Lesnaya Street, which just opened in March. Here, you can try the best local cuisine, buy fresh farm products, and listen to marvelous concerts during festival days.

An extraordinary musical experience awaits visitors at the Moscow Spring A Cappella Festival’s new stages on a flotilla of Radisson ships. Listening to live performances while cruising down the Moscow River will make your festival memories unforgettable!
