Our little Westie, Poppy, the light of our lives, is really sick.
She’s in and out of our vets, and the emergency animal hospital more times than I care to count. She’s also been back and forth to the specialist hospital in Bristol for more specialist tests and exams to determine the root cause of her problem. It’s a really scary time for us, and also a very expensive time.
Priced out of insurance due to previous claims and Poppy’s age, we regularly put money into a dedicated savings account for her. She’s had this account her whole life and it’s been topped up by both us and our families. But this sickness has seen her use up all of the money we had in her account. We are struggling to pay for the treatment that Poppy desperately needs in order for us to hopefully see her stabilise enough to live a full, and happy life.
We have a JustGiving page set up to help with Poppy’s costs, something which I’ve really had to battle with my pride to do.
Each emergency admission she has costs us on average £600. Her bill for the last week is £1,069.39 already. That is just the last seven days. We’ve been back and forth from the vets since my birthday on the 7th November last year.
She needs to go back to the specialist hospital soon for a biopsy and a repeat ultrasound, along with needing to stay with them for a day or two at least. This will cost us thousands. And then there’s the after care and what we will presume will entail more emergency admissions.
We have, to date, already spent in the high thousands on her treatments but as much as it hurts me to admit, we are desperately in need of help.
Poppy is the love of our lives, and she’s been my saviour since I got attacked and had a subarachnoid haemorrhage in 2018. I will do anything for her to help her have the best life, as simply put, she saved mine.
Please can you help us?

If you can’t donate, we don’t mind. But please can you share this article and spread the word about Poppy’s story. That will also help us and potentially help Poppy get the best treatment she needs.
