I spent a week crafting a costume that looked like a rusted toy robot for my boyfriend to wear, and in the fall of 2020, we took a 2 week roadtrip out in the Midwestern United States where I photographed him in different locations wearing the costume. We drove 8,000 miles in 15 days. Because of Covid, we slept in the car a lot and tried to avoid staying in motels/hotels as much as possible. Some nights we got no sleep (we treated ourselves to a hotel stay and sleeping in a couple times during our trip).
I wanted to depict an old rusted toy robot searching around for their home that they once lived in. I spent weeks mapping out locations that we had to find every day. Hope you like it!
