This German Artist Turns Face Coverings Into Art And Here Are 16 Of The Most Creative Ones
Throughout this ongoing global pandemic, in many countries, face masks have sort of turned into a natural part of existence. For most of us, the regular mental checklist of phone-keys-wallet when leaving the house has turned into a four-item list of phone-keys-wallet-mask. Of course, some people are complaining about the situation. And while they're complaining, others are getting inspired.
Today, let's talk about the Instagram-famous designer Steffen Kraft (also known as ICONEO) who decided to integrate face masks into his illustrations. As you're about to see, some of these illustrations are literally drawn around a face mask, turning it into a completely different thing, while others are digital ones highlighting important issues or simply tickling viewers' imagination.
Without further ado, Bored Panda invites you to take a look at some of the coolest face mask-inspired illustrations by designer Steffen Kraft. Besides, we had a chance to ask the artist some interesting questions, so make sure to look for his answers as you're looking through the illustrations.

This is so true, but imagine using this in real life. 🗓 A mask a day! 😷
did you mean perfect? because i believe perfit is the obsolete version

"I was struggling with estimating this new situation without losing my optimism. I thought I would start working again when the pandemic is over. The only thing I could do was to do corona art. I had so many ideas concerning the pandemic. To do corona art was my way to cope with this situation."
For a person who has done archery, I think this is really creative! 🎨 The lady is shooting the stupid virus because of the mask, this idea is really smart. 🏹 🦠
I vote for decomposable single use masks! 😷✋ I personally use a reusable one, just wash it when you’re done! 💦 It may be hard to just put them in the bin for lazy people, but the consequences are worse. 😔 Please correctly put your single use masks in the bin. 🕳 The sea is so beautiful, like the rest of nature. 🌊
Can somebody please explain why smoking in outside restaurants is still not banned?
It should be far away from the restaurant. 🛣 Normally, staff don’t bother telling them because smokers don’t always listen. 🚬 Please be careful not to inhale the smoke, as it is really bad for you. 💨

When asked what his thoughts are on wearing face masks, the artist told us this: "At the beginning of the pandemic, the scientists in Germany weren't sure about the benefits of wearing face masks and it was strange to see people on the streets wearing masks. Now it is the new normal and I think it is a good and simple way to protect others."
We have the upper hand while we are reading these. Needed the brake thank you to the artist!
Masks, good for humans, terrible for the wild life! Please cut the elastics before you throw your disposable masks in the garbage. At least, animals won't get tangled in them and suffocate.
Yes, and actually throw them in the garbage. Both these things!

"To do art with face masks is my way to convert a strange and scary thing into something interesting and entertaining. In some illustrations, I'm focusing on the waste problem of wearing single-use masks. They are laying on the ground like leaves in autumn."
I think mask makers need to step up their game with designs like this! 🍃
Why are some people embarrassed to wear protection? Think of it as your little faciel umbrella.
They’re no embarrassed. ✖️Some people say “I can’t breathe”! 😷 Masks may not let you breathe well, but you can still breathe. 😏

Will there be more creations surrounding this topic in the future? Well, the artist isn't quite sure yet. "With every illustration I upload I think: This will be my last corona art. I won't have more ideas on this topic. But unexpectedly, after a few days, I find some new ideas in my mind. It's like a creative challenge I hope to stop soon and go back to other topics like global warming," the designer told us.
As long as you can sit down, have a quiet cup of coffee and pray you may not always get the answer you want but you can feel in control for a minute.
Thank you for making masks seem friendlier with these cute drawings! 🛹
The doctors are doing their best. And we must help as well. We will get over this. jut keep smiling and continue to do your best! :)

This is why we're sick! Take responsibility for your actions people while there is anything left to save,
Cut the ear loops when done, please. This gets tangles up in wildlife.
Those are cool, but what a waste of masks! Donate them to someone in need!
A complete waste of masks. The art doesn't make any sense at all in terms of the masks. They bear no relationship to the mask theme what so ever.
We had a deficit of face masks in the uk, i find turning them into art distasteful as hell
Don't you get how these were done? From the text: "As you're about to see, some of these illustrations are literally drawn *around* a face mask, turning it into a completely different thing, while others are *digital* ones highlighting important issues". Still perfectly wearable after the deed was done...
