And I am annoyed at the walkman question, as they came out in the late 70's, but the question asked when they became popular. There was only a very short window from the walkman to the discman, and I had a discman in the mid-80's.
Right? I grew up on the East Coast, and the stupid glass blocks were everywhere in the 70's - guess it took a while to infect the rest of the country, lol
