I made this wall art piece with adhesive EVA-foam tiles. The tiles are square (1*1 inch) and relates to the pixel principal – a bit like Lego and MineCraft.

The design template: the design was made by uploading a google-picture of David Bowie in a Stitch software (yes, as in the sowing thing) which transform the picture into pixel art. With this software I just designed the art the way I like it and I could keep track of how many tiles (stitches) was needed and how big the art would be. I made sure only black and grey color where used – this is easy to edit in a stitch software – and I love the non-framing style making the art much more eye-catching. When I was satisfied with the design I simply printed the template and used this for the build.

The build: by leveling few lines horizontal and vertical with a regular leveler the rest of the tiles was easy placed next to each other placed from the leveled lines and according to the Stitch template. The tiles are fairly thick and therefor easy to place next to each other.

I guess the entire process took 5-6 hours (1 hour making the template and 4-5 hours with the build) but it was well worth it and the art really gets A LOT of attention at home. Next time though I will do this with some friends and beers!
