While on a trip to Vienna, Austria, I was mesmerised by all the amazing things we saw. Vienna really is a beautiful town worth writing about. So if you ever decide to visit it, definitely check out these 5 places.

1. Schönbrunn palace

The home of the famous female ruler and the last of the House of Habsburg, Maria Theresa. It is a giant modern-looking palace, with lots of rooms, although most of them were supposedly not used at all. They offer free audio tours in quite a few languages, which is a very welcome addition to the unforgettable experience. You will definitely be mesmerised by the wealth and beauty of the palace.

2. Natural History Museum

Located in the Museumsquartier, a kind of square, dedicated to Museums, it is a two-story museum of natural history (as the name implies, duh). On the 1st floor we see a lot of fossils and stuffed animals (which look very realistic), a planetarium and my favourite, an space exhibition with a lot of interactive objects that are sure to impress the kids. The 2nd floor is dedicated to dinosaurs and features a very interesting and extensive collection of dinosaur skeletons and reconstructions.

3. Tiergarten Schönbrunn (Schönbrunn ZOO)

Located next to the Schönbrunn palace, it is the world’s oldest ZOO. With all the amazing animals to see we were, you should reserve about half a day see all the animals. My personal favourite were the penguins which were, considering their natural climate, looking very happy with their cold underground space.

4. Imperial Treasury

And at last the Imperial Treasury. It holds all the treasures and gifts received by the king. An impressive collection of all the crowns, jewels and a mysterious unicorn horn. Although not very fun for the kids, adults will definitely enjoy seeing all the art.
