If you spend your days surfing the never-ending Instagram feed, you might've already heard of a freelance illustrator called Isabelle Staub, who rocked the platform with her fresh reimaginings of classic Disney Princesses. What you might not know, though, is that this series also helped the artist to get out of a serious creative block.
“I’ve always loved Disney since I was a child, so I decided to paint the princesses in my own art style for fun,” Isabelle told DesignTaxi. And she really got into it, spending from 8 to 12 hours recreate each image. Almost the whole process is done in the Corel Painter, with only a few last touches done with Photoshop.
"I’m definitely ready to start a new series! Someone requested villains, which I think would be really cool. But I might give the whole Disney theme a rest for a while.”
Right now she's in the first stages of illustrating her own children's book, so keep refreshing her Instagram and Etsy pages for more awesome works.

Pocahontas, Pocahontas
I'm okay with pocahontas because her lips are already luscious to begin with. but yeah, i don't really get the other ones...
Load More Replies...why is it every comment is negative? the artist drew classic Disney princesses in her own style. it's beautiful work. I like the lips.
I agree!! What the heck people?? She did a beautiful job transforming something into what she wanted it to look like!! It's absolutely stunning, whether or not it's accurate. Quit slamming on her for not conforming to your own opinions.
Load More Replies...Right. I don't usually make comments like these, but coming from an artist such as myself, it's sorta pissing me off. "Great sexualized cartoons. Just what the kids needed" uhmm Why? First off, this is the artists style. It's how she draws things. Every artist has their own style. And yea I guess the whole "realistic" thing wasn't really accurate. But they're more realistic than the cartoon(which I believe was the point) c'mon guys, it's how the artists decided to draw these things. They're all amazing and the artist is very talented. If you don't like it, move on. She's not making these drawings for little kids to see. She made them because she was inspired to. It's not like she's telling the world "this is how all women should look" I mean s**t, what about other artists? If you guys saw some of my drawings, they'd look like demented beasts. But that is MY style. I'm not putting my art out there for little kids to see? And I doubt she is either. She's a talented artist. Give her some credit
Ariel, The Little Mermaid
Can you guys just enjoy the artwork? Its within the artist's right to styalize their work however they like. Its pleasing to the eye and shows talent. Chill
Nobody is deniyng the artist right to do what he/she wants. But many seem to be deniyng the viewer his right to express an opinion. good or bad. Its ok, people have opinions, CHILL. Snowflake.
Load More Replies...Yeah stop being so rude! What if someone told you that you were bad at something you love!? I think they are all gorgeous!
Of course they're unrealistic, they're cartoons! Both artists' renditions of these fantasy creatures are fantastic, I wish I could draw any where near as good!
Belle, Beauty And The Beast
The first one doesn't have make up and lip surgery, but the second one looks cool too :D
You people will find anything to complain about.
Load More Replies...Stop with the negative comments! These are in the artists own unique style. If you want it your way, do it yourself.
i showed this to my good friend and he told me that it looked like me (keep in mind I have had a crush on him since I met him) he told me that she looked beautiful
Esmeralda, The Hunchback Of Notre-dame
I love Isabelle Staub's work on these Disney characters. There is a more sensual aspect to them.
i used to have a thing for her when i was young, but this.... damn.....
Tiana, The Princess And The Frog
It's a reinterpretation, chill out. Her lips look normal. It's not like the first version by Disney looked like a picture either.
Load More Replies...Can y'all just chill out and appreciate, if ur gonna criticize at least do it constructively, and not just to criticize
Jasmine, Aladdin
They don't have to look very realistic. And besides, they look more realistic than the 2D cartoons they're based on.
People are complaining only because the title says that the princesses are made to look realistic ... The artwork sure is amazing !
Load More Replies...If you're commenting negatively you're literally a hater. Half of y'all can't even DRAW. Shut up, these pictures are amazing 😍
There sure are a lot of snide comments here. Can it be ... jealousy ... coming from folks who know they lack any talent whatsoever? I think these "3d" versions of old, simplistic cartoon characters are terrific.
Aurora, Sleeping Beauty
I am the artist who did these- I never once said I wanted these to look realistic. I just painted the princesses in my own art style for fun! It's not that serious.
The hair is really neat. I think that they could have thinned out the face more to look like her though. Still very cool!
they are both walking with him once upon a dream. Her name is Aurora and she is on tape #7 and this is her story...
Guys how have people not realised yet the TITLE is wrong. Read the story.
My thoughts exactly. It definitely looks good, though, but a title change would be more beneficial.
Load More Replies...The artwork work is fantastic. However, I think I can identify more with the 2d versions - they actually feel more realistic and not as sexualised with the dolllike botox lips.
i agree with you i think it's less of a realistic look more "hottest trends today! lips are the new butt!" or something...
Load More Replies...This whole "let's redo the princesses!" schlick across the net is getting terribly old. Let's do them as goth! Let's do them as men! Let's do them them as zombies! This one apparently is "let's apply cooking spray to them".
Don't think real women have eyes that take up half of their faces 👀
If the artist him/herself said that this is realistic, they are gravely mistaken and should do more life studies. On the other hand the title of the article is quite misleading. This is a cute personal style that got boring by page 2. because it suffers from Barbie head syndrome.
Go and google up Isabelle_Staub, she is an Illustrator and has Other works besides this, different kinds as well, not all of them look liek this, this is just their rendition/fan art of the disney princesses. Someone else obviously found them all and put them all in this article the one who put this whole thing together never actually credits the person who drew the fan art, instead you have to figure it out for yourself who they are, is a name on some of the pictures, they have an instagram with their work there.
Load More Replies...I hate the lips and they lack the personality in the eyes. Essentially they look vapid.
Yup - with their emphasis on lips and nothing else they remind me of sex dolls.
