54 Things Passengers Did Mid-Flight That Made Everyone Around Them Question Humanity
There’s something about stepping onto a plane that makes some people act like it’s their first day on Earth. Manners vanish, feet start appearing where they absolutely shouldn’t, and someone inevitably decides headphones are for losers. Who knew getting from point A to point B could be this difficult?
Below, we’ve rounded up photos of some truly nightmarish plane passengers you’d never want sitting anywhere near you. Scroll down to see them for yourself, and upvote the worst offenders.

This Is The One Thing I Am Most Worried About Before Getting On A Plane
Intense Zit Squeezing Going On For Most Of The Flight
Generally speaking, traveling by plane is pretty straightforward. You arrive at the airport, check in if you haven’t done it online, drop off your bags, go through security, and find your gate.
Maybe you grab an overpriced coffee with an equally overpriced croissant and bottle of water. Or a glass of prosecco if you’re feeling fancy. Then you get on the plane and off you go.

When People Stretch Out On A Plane And Think The Whole Airplane Is Theirs
"Oh, I'm so sorry I leaned on your foot with the incredibly sharp point of my elbow! And I'll do it again if you stick your smelly feet into my space again."
If only it were always that simple. Somewhere along the way, you’re bound to meet someone holding up security because they’re convinced their 200 ml moisturizer will somehow make it through.
Then there’s the stranger who wants to chat for the entire flight. Or, God forbid, someone proudly displaying their bare feet.
Airports and planes seem to bring out a surprising amount of unhinged behavior. So why does it happen?

Sitting Like This On A Plane
Well, flying can put people in a bad mood before they’ve even reached their gate. A report from the National Academies looked at what can contribute to disruptive behavior in airports and found plenty of potential triggers.
Long lines and confusing rules can add stress. So can delays, cancellations, or suddenly realizing your connection is looking very questionable.
Throw in an unfamiliar airport where you have no idea where anything is, and someone who was perfectly pleasant at breakfast might be considerably less pleasant an hour later.

Another big part of it is how little control you have once you start traveling. Researcher Milad Haghani from UNSW explains that flying comes with physical discomfort and a loss of control, which can leave people feeling on edge.
You can arrive ridiculously early and still have your flight delayed. Once you’re on board, you’re stuck in your seat until someone else says you can leave. When people are tired or stressed, something as small as a stranger reclining their seat can suddenly feel like a personal attack.

Airports are also just strange places to exist in. Psychology professor Steve Taylor describes them as liminal spaces where our normal sense of time and routine can become a little fuzzy. You’re technically between where you came from and where you’re going, probably thinking more about your destination than the terminal you’re sitting in.
For some people, vacation mode kicks in the second they clear security. For others, all that waiting and uncertainty makes them anxious. Either way, Taylor suggests that being removed from our usual routines can make people act differently than they normally would.

In fairness, people are allowed to read, and to use the light above their seat. Agreed, not sure why she needed an overhead light to watch something on her iPad, but for all we know she has low vision issues that make the overhead light helpful. But I haven't been on an overnight or early morning flight lately; do they ask you to turn off the overhead light unless absolutely necessary (like to find something in your bag, or that you dropped)?
And then there’s alcohol. The National Academies notes that drinking can play a role in disruptive behavior at airports and on planes.
That probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Airports are one of the few places where ordering a beer at 9 a.m. somehow feels completely normal. But if someone is already tired or irritated, a few drinks can make it much easier for things to get out of hand.

Of course, at the end of the day, whether you get seated next to a chatty stranger or someone watching videos at full volume is mostly a matter of luck.
The best you can do is stay calm and politely say something if they’re bothering you. If that doesn’t help, you can involve the crew.

Compared to everything else that's on this list, this is positively pleasant.
It also helps to come prepared yourself. Noise-canceling headphones can make a huge difference. Having a podcast or playlist ready can give you something else to focus on. Comfortable clothes can make the whole journey a little easier too.
And if there’s any consolation, the pain won’t last forever. Eventually, the plane will land, the doors will open, and you’ll be able to get off.

Genius Parenting Hack Or Terrible Parent?
I'm not understanding what the issue is: it looks like the mother rigged some kind of child seat to her suitcase to make it easy to roll as a unit. I wouldn't recommend walking through the airport towing this behind me where I couldn't see the baby (unless the spouse is walking behind, keeping an eye on the baby), but there's not a lot of choice going down the plane's aisle.

What happened to people dressing up nicely to travel? All those bare, often dirty feet and loose hair everywhere.
Dirty feet, feet on seats, feet in your face or sticking through from the seat behind, yeah. not nice. But if I just take my shoes off and leave my feet in the ground I cannot for the life of me see a problem.
