Anyone else want to see the Women’s team compete against the Men’s?

Because people won't pay to watch female sports. DUH! Same as people won't pay to watch male nude dancers, but a female can rake in a million bux from age 18 to age 24. DUH!

Want some equality? Ask women to purchase women football team merchandise as men do.

It’s interesting to observe that men are demonised mostly in the western countries where women enjoy equal rights while there are limited discussions about terrible treatment of women in the countries where they are treated really badly and the lack of equal pay is the least to worry about. There is almost no day without historical made-up stories to prove men that we are terrible creatures who appears to acquire our ‘special’ rights in the societies mainly due to unfair competition with the opposite sex. Sometimes I really wonder what went wrong with this world and where we are going to end.

Female Football is not very good in terms of skill. You can actually look up games from "professional" women teams against male youth clubs and in almost every case, the grown up women got their asses kicked by 14 - 16 year old boys. So I think that they are actually getting paid quite well.

I'm all in for womens football but its my choice whether to like and it and watch it,The competition is significantly lower in the professional tier of womens football, the US Womens Team racked up a magnificent 26 goals throughout the tournament, you won't see that in men's football, the equation is simple, competition is much higher in the men's game. Times will change for sure, but for the time being, all those who are hating the US Soccer Federation for unequal wages, you gotta understand the simple fact that both of them are on a different level at least for the time being.

Economics, plain and simple. Not to mention when you have an a*s-hat kneeling during the national anthem the number of viewers drop. Just ask the NFL.

So much bad faith in this whole discussion, on both sides; US local soccer revenue is approximately the same (not "by far higher"), but the wages of the local soccer teams are not paid by the National Team, because the National Team has no revenue from the League games. The National Team pays with revenue from the World-Cup, where the male-team audience is 6 Billion people who watch commercials, versus ~300million for female teams. Why would I pay you the same salary for 95% less exposure? They should talk to their employers in the league, where they signed employment contracts..., ok I see the problem.... the free market didn't work for them, so they try to milk the National Team, sorry this has nothing to do with equality. Winning is not the same as making money, ad-revenue is the real money, the price money is ridiculously small.

It's pure economics people. You get a percentage of how much you generate, regardless of your gender. If you generate more, you get more, if you generate less, you get less. It's simple Maths.

Amazing. Until this year, I had no idea there WAS a women's team. That likely has a LOT to do with the pay situation.

Does anyone know if this revenue sharing model is anything like what they have in the NFL?

Perhaps if they had the same kind of money to start with for ads, stadiums etc they could bring in more money. Revenue is a symptom of the problem not the problem itself.

I think for the USA teams the women's team is so much better. They should get at least equal pay to the USA men's team or more. The men's team gets all this money but they are lousy team! It's just another case of faulty thinking that men should get more than women!

Actually, there should be a pay gap. /the women's team play better football, are more successful, and spend less time rolling round the floor crying because they fall over than the men do. Pay the women more.

Broadcasters have kept this off TV for years. It's only nw just starting to be on TV on a regular basis after protests about how TV companies were excluding the women's game. More pressure needs to be put on them to actually show games. With that will come the money of course but the discrimination is with TV companies. Supporters love the women's game when they see it...

Honestly, these comments are shocking. Women's football has been a minority for so long and only just reccently have they become more popular. I agree that their smaller pay is fair because of the revenue-but why do they have less? It's because of the fact that women's teams are female and people are prejudiced against them because they're 'worse'. All in all, its just a game and gender should be irrelevant to it. Despite this fact, its not and its an awful shame. I think that what everyone should be fighting against is the fact that its not as popular and for sexism and misconceptions.

This was also an issue for the Dutch women's soccer team & before the World Cup this was altered & changed. Now they earn the exact same amount as the Dutch male soccer team. And like the Dutch men, according typical "DUTCH WORLD CUP SOCCER TRADITION": THESE WOMEN ALSO LOST IN THE FINALS, JUST LIKE THE MEN. F-ing great! Anyway the USA were the better player, the better team. Congrats USA with this deserved win!

Look at the difference in salary cap between the men's and women's leagues. If it was just about revenue the caps should be the same and everyone should be paid what they are worth. The women are not allowed to make more then the highest players are already being paid.
