The DMV. The IRS. The hospital. the Social Security people and just about everyone else assumes you have a first, middle and last name. What if you have 2 middle names? or are Latino/a and have two last names? and how about those who use an initial and their middle name?

The software or programs used are designed to feed the data into formatted printable documents that either do not have the space across the page or do not have infinite memory storage for "unusual" or "unexpected" information. While it may feel like discrimination it's likely a case of limited resources, especially in underfunded organizations.
