The idea behind feel-good stories is that it's important to counteract the negativity of bad news.

Of course, there will always be skeptics who say maintaining optimism in the long run is impossible and that every attempt to prove otherwise is just a form of escapism, but every now and then something happens that puts a smile on your face and makes you believe that we're all going to be OK.

So we at Bored Panda put together a new collection of such moments to remind you that there's still good in this world. Whether it's someone beating an illness or caring for an animal in need, we people are strong and have an endless capacity to love, and we can't forget that.

Continue scrolling to check out the list and if you need more positivity, fire up our earlier publications of the series here, here, and here.

Among them were some of my colleagues in St. Petersburg and Moscow. They WERE arrested. They were taken to the police station, asked to sign declarations and then released - at least this is what they told us. (I have serious doubts that this was all, as the Russian police are known for their brutality.) I am so proud of them and hope they are safe.

Living in Russias neighbor and having seen through media what happens in Russia, it is terrifying. If you go protest, they can have you fired. They can take your kids, on the grounds of if you are protesting, you must be a bad parent. They can beat you up when you are arrested. They can falsify criminal charges against you.

I live in Finland, and my countrys media has been monitoring the political field in Russia very closely for a long time, basically since we gained indepence from it over 100 years ago. One of the more terrifying things that Russia has in store is that most of the people that could be the president after Putin are worse than him.

Putin will end up alongside Hilter in the history books of the future or worse yet, simply written off as a monstrous autocrat and actually forgotten / ignored by later generations. Either way, so much for the "legacy" that he is trying to create.

Sometimes, the impulse to consume negative news can be difficult to resist. "We are evolutionarily wired to screen for and anticipate danger, which is why keeping our fingers on the pulse of bad news may trick us into feeling more prepared," says Cecille Ahrens, clinical director of Transcend Therapy in San Diego, California.

Following the news may be necessary to stay informed, especially during a crisis but according to Ahrens, the feelings of fear, sadness, and anger triggered by negative headlines can keep people stuck in a "pattern of frequent monitoring," leading to worse mood and more anxious scrolling (doomscrolling).

So why do we need cats and dogs in our life? If nothing else, this. People don't realize how difficult it can be for some people with autism to relate or interact with or be touched by humans. But animals, I have seen so many of these types of things where the autistic person is finally interacting with, touching or even making eye contact with someone and it's an animal. Animals can really change a person's life. Sorry I just get the feels with these types of things because they are just amazing to me. Plus it helps the kitties become ready to find a home

I honestly wouldn't know what to do without pets in my life. The welcome feeling when you come home. The cuddles when you are happy but they cuddle extra when you are sad. The happy sounds they make. The cats i can cuddle when i feel down or had a rough day. I also have a form of autism and cats really helped me in my life. Mine come from a shelter. I remember trying to find the right one for me. There were 2 who just instantly connected with me. I love them so much. They helped me and i helped them.

The root of our interest in bad news may be the result of feeling vulnerable or helpless or overwhelmed.

"Let's say you are feeling stressed out at work and you disengage from your tasks to pick up your phone and doomscroll. Once you catch that compulsive behavior, check in with yourself and ask what it is you are thinking and feeling,” says Megan E. Johnson, a licensed clinical psychologist and researcher specializing in trauma and brain-behavior relationships.

"Once you understand your need, then you can find a realistic and appropriate way to get that need met, rather than compulsively turning to doomscrolling."

Took her straight home to her new couch where she is the cutest potato. Don’t know her name yet but just look at that face.

The best way kids learn is by imitating their parents. That combined with parents paying attention and correcting their child's behavior is hugely important in bringing up a nice person.

Where I went to school (elementary/primary) we could only invite all the girls, all the boys, or the whole class. It was cuz they didint want feelings hurt, but who would want to include the bully in their party?

This is sick. Why should i invite kids i do not like, why should my parents host them? This is not a school matter, the school should have no opinion about that.

Until people in the U.S. are taught how to tell a lie from the truth, and to understand the NRA, and politicians supported by the NRA, do not have their best interests at heart, nothing will change. Honestly, I think it will take until the next generation or two are running Congress, before any real change will happen. That is, of course, if this country isn't ripped apart at the the seams, before then. I hope, pray, and wish, I am wrong...but as someone who spent 5 1/2 years at University studying people, culture, and society, I look at my country, and I worry...

Turning to your phone might just distance you from the colleagues and friends and family who could help.

"All it will do is temporarily distract you from your uncomfortable emotion," Johnson adds. "But those unpleasant feelings are there for a reason, and they communicate to us our needs, so we cannot just silence them with distractions. Once you become aware that what you actually need is support, then maybe you can reach out to a colleague and delegate some tasks.”

I love this full circle story. Having struggled with mental illness, addiction and incarceration for 20 years, I now have 6 years clean and sober and work in a trauma unformed residential program for previously incarcerated women. I understand the heart bursting joy of that second picture; when I think of how my life has turned out, I'm full of gratitude. I don't mean for my story to detract from yours. Only to say that I empathize and am so proud of you.

BPD has been so stigmatized by trashy, brainless true crime shows that it’s making people who suffer from it feel even worse. That stigma is probably killing people.

I think it also because of the lack of proper training for hospital staff. If you know how to react in certain situations you are more capable to help without being swept away by the intens emotions and be more understanding.

Thank you for this . I am traumatized by the mental health system . I got picked up for mania (bpd, bipolar1 and adhd) I spent 2 nights in the ER waiting for a bed in the psych ward . They drove me 2 hours out in hand cuffs to a place I wasn't familiar with . Got there got stripped of everything I was a tad irritated because I wasn't sure where I was so instead of explaining they gave me a shot of Haldol and whatever they mix it with. I had court the next morning. I was to drugged up to defend myself . So I sat while they said things that weren't all true because I couldn't lift my head. It would be nice to have people in the field who understand or have experienced some of these things .fielunderstands 1st hand .

As someone with BPD who us struggling every single day to get better, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! I don't tell people I meet irl that I have BPD because of the incredibly negative stigmas attached to it. I am not a narcissist! I am not heartless! Neither are lots of people with BPD! There are always exceptions and comorbidity with other disorders (including narcissism), but our society needs to recognize how difficult it is to live with a mental disorder that makes you feels every emotion to such an extreme. It's so goddamn stressful.

I think a lot of us can’t truly understand the depth of your suffering. When I see a patient in the hospital with BPD they are in a very challenging/ stressful environment which makes a mental disorder more hard to handle. People with BPD have the gift or the curse (depends how you interpret it) to make others feel their intense emotions ( joy, pain, frustration). It scares people and makes them feel invaded in their personal space. The worst conclusion they/ we can draw, is that the person in front of us is a narcissist. Sadly I never met someone with BPD without a history of some form of abuse.

BPD has been with me since I was a child (now 36) and with all the horros it brought, hardly anything made me feel more worthless and like unloveable disgusting trash than my current mental health care professional clearly being judgemental and annoyed with me... or thats my perception. its always hard to tell.

Sadly, one person or even one country cannot control the actions of other leaders/ countries. Poland is becoming quite racist, in Frances last elections a far right woman was nearly elected, the US had Orange man and just look what Vladolf Putler is doing right now! I fear for our future because it seams as if the whole world is going downhill, especially if you count in our modern plague(s) and global warming.

For every one asking about her pants, this is the regular formal uniform but the pants are obviously very tailored. Thought it looks nicer Imo it's super uncomfortable and I never tailored mine, but many girls take theirs to a tailor the moment they are allowed to do so.

I didn't say anything, but I *was* curious about that. Not in any sexual, derogatory way. But from a functionality standpoint. Seems like tight clothing would hinder one's movement, especially if they needed to move quickly, and be agile. But if it works for her, it works for her. That's all I was thinking.

Ha! that reminds me of the time me and my boyfriend and a few strangers tried to shoo a sheep back into its pasture - we *almost* succeeded a few times but were hindered by passers-by (many of which thought they could *catch* the sheep but just caused it to run away even further...). At last, the sheep stood right next to the fence, panting, with all of us standing around it discussing what to do. Then comes a burly man who takes one look at it, asks "how much does a sheep weigh, anyway?"... AND PICKS IT UP AND LIFTS IT OVER THE FENCE.

I saw a man trying to walk his gorgeous Golden along a sidewalk that had a "culvert" along it - this is a concrete channel that drains off (usually dirty and disgusting) water from the street after a rain. It had rained that morning and the culvert was running like a small river. The dog kept pulling the guy to go look at the water. The guy kept pulling at the dog and the dog would take 2 steps and then try to yank back to the water. I heard the man muttering things and talking, then finally he yelled, "Damn it, Bailey, we TALKED about this...." The dog sat down immediately and gave the man a loving look, tail wagging. The man said, "This is why I didn't have kids! Will you PLEASE act your age?" I was in tears :)

Given that avoidance might not be practical, experts suggest these three ways to make your experience on the internet more positive:

    • Be mindful of what you consume on social media. If you log on to connect with other people, focus on the personal news and photos shared instead of the latest headlines;
    • Seek out the content that makes you happy to balance out your newsfeed. This may be images of cute kittens, beautiful landscapes, drool-worthy food videos, or something else. You could even follow a social media account dedicated to sharing only happy and positive news;
    • Use social media to promote positivity and kindness. Sharing good things that are happening in your life can improve your mood, and your positive mood can spread to others. You may also like to compliment others on social media. While this might sound awkward, people will appreciate it more than you think.

Story: in August, our super chill indoor/outdoor cat didn’t come home after a big storm. We searched everywhere for him, but once we started putting up signs we got tipped off to what had happened. Our crazy old neighbor got it in her head that the outdoor cats in our neighborhood were “attracting raccoons” to her garden and destroying them. She had her landscaper illegally set traps in her yard and Iggy got stuck. The landscaper drove him out to his house 12 miles away where Iggy escaped. The neighbor admitted to doing it. We posted everywhere on social media, called all the shelters, and hired a pet detective but it was no use and we pretty much grieved his loss. Finally, after six months and a brutally cold winter, a woman who lived two streets away from where he was released saw him, came across our post on PetFBI, and contacted us. It was him! He’s a little skinny and dirty but okay and happy to be home :)

For many people the start of the pandemic was such an excruciatingly difficult time. People were struggling with isolation, dealing with illness, missing their friends and loved ones, and wondering how they would make ends meet if they lost their job. For many quarantine was not an ideal time. People shouldn’t feel ashamed if they didn’t spend quarantine learning a new language, baking or picking up a new skill. It’s perfectly all right if you were just trying to get by every day and work on your mental health. I would never ever want to live through the isolation and uncertainty of quarantine again.

From the artist: "first I draw the entire outline then I work in layers. I start with 2b pencils. then 3b etc. I do this until the 8B. Then I make highlights with an eraser. in between I blend each layer with a tissue :) this is the short version of the explanation haha" chart of this: pencil3.jpg pencil3.jpg

Excellent work. So much depth that it looks sculptural. Love that pencil/graphite drawings are getting much deserved appreciation. My favourite compliment for one of my drawings was when somebody would say, "That's a drawing? I thought it was a photograph" Edit: I can't stop looking at this. What a talent and commitment to detail.

You might also want to consider doing something nourishing for yourself – such as being outdoors in nature or making your favorite meal. This might help shift your mind from troubling news and create a more positive and resilient mindset that can better deal with worries.

At the end of the day, we have to accept that some things are just out of our control and focus on the ones that we can, in fact, change.

The sin of pride is an excessive preoccupation with self and one's own importance, achievements, status, or possessions. This sin is considered rebellion against God because it attributes to one's self the honor and glory that only God is due.

Not a puppy and most likely a cross-breed. There's many absolutely gorgeous mongrels in Eastern-European (I mean the continent here) animal-'shelters' and out on the streets. It's more likely that it's some Laika-cross (or similarly sled-doggy breed) than a purebred Akita.

I always had new prescription filled by testing different lenses, adding bits and removing bits and reporting back which make me see better. And then recently went to new place, they somehow scanned my eyes, 5 seconds and they knew my prescroption. Felt like sci-fi lol.

My 5 year old grandson got his first pair of glasses 3 months ago. The cheap optician shop where kids get free frames and lenses had moved to a different location so son in law took grandson to a different store. Not free. Plus the only frames he liked were Raybans. Over $100 just for the frames. Sil paid extra for insurance incase they broke, which they did less than a week later. 3 months since he got them and they've had to be repaired/replaced 7 times. My daughter and Sil are really regretting that Sil didn't go online and checked where the opticians had moved to. He knows better for next time 😜

You can also order glasses online for a fraction of what you pay at the eye doctor's office. You still need a script for the lenses, but the frames and lenses are dirt cheap, comparatively speaking.

Putin has Europe by the balls because they're dependant on Russian oil - especially Germany. Countries facing famine because Russia stole Ukraine's grain are already in serious trouble because of extreme drought. The poor always pay for the folly of the wealthy and powerful.

The thing I dont understand with these kind of pictures is: why they stay when an american politician/minister/president etc. is talking. I mean..... they invaded a few more countries (waged wars for fictitious reasons --> Iran, Irak, syria, uganda etc.) over the last decades Why is one celebrated for wars waged against distant (Islamic) countries, but despised for wars waged against neighbors? Maybe because one of them is against people you like (white, eurasian) and the other against people you actually (secretly) despise yourself (darker, african, asian)

My ex is from Mexico and we lived in Chicago. They would lose his paperwork over and over. Then they would say they didn’t have his fingerprints, then they would lose his paperwork again. Rinse and repeat. He didn’t get his citizenship for over three years until we moved to a smaller city in Ohio.

Seventeen years???? The US really want to make it as difficult as possible for people don't they?

Yep. "Why don't they do it the right way?" Um, because it's incredibly long, complicated, and expensive, and also, for some people there's literally no path to citizenship shy of marrying an American.

and they wonder why there’s so many illegal immigrants, they make it as difficult as possible to be legal

And this is why people are here illegally, the red tape and the cost make it ridiculously expensive and difficult! I would be willing to bet that at least 90% of the illegal immigrants don't want to be illegal and would happily become citizens if it wasn't such a S**t Show. DO BETTER US GOV'T!!!!!

Maybe instead of wasting money and resources on a useless wall and arresting families we could get those elected wastes of skin to fix a process that requires a person to wait over a decade. We might even save some $ and gain a bit credibility in the process.

Facts: Livers can regenerate, and you can donate a portion to someone else and still have enough to survive with, and the rest will regrow in time. Amazing thing she did for her husband. :)

Absolutely true, just want to add that it's a one time deal, you can only donate once (stem cells need to be involved I think). What she did was heroic:)

This is a very touching picture and story behind it: however is totally inaccurate I'm a liver recipient and I can tell you that you are not walking the next day nor are you allowed to get up and leave your room anytime soon because you body is absolutely fatigue and there's way too many tubes sticking out of you. Not to mention your immune system is completely shot so your pretty much confined to your room for a few days. Sorry I just had to chime in on this

My dad passed away from liver cancer in 2010. I would have gave him some of my liver but he was a bad alcoholic so he wasn't able to be considered for a transplant. 😭

I love that they do this now. Thirty years ago spouses could not donate to each other because if something went wrong, the children could be left orphans. Good for you guys! God Bless.

I would totally bring my dogs but they're too friendly to sit patiently at the table; the one would be running around to every person for attention and the other shifty jerk would use their distraction to steal their food off the table and then demand butt scratches

I saw a family playing hide-and-seek at a little park on my way to my local farmer's market. Mom was helping the little guy, a year old to "hide" behind a tree while Daddy pretending he couldn't see them until Mom and little guy popped out - little guy giggling over fooling Daddy. People thought I was nuts to just stand there and watch, but I couldn't let that moment of joy go by without drinking it in. So cool to see that interaction.
