Dungeon Master Shares How He Helped His Friend’s Daughter Sleep After She Called Him “Dumb Dumb”

When it comes to Dungeons & Dragons stories, you usually expect plenty of elaborate fantasy storylines or hilarious interactions between the players and the dungeon master. Stories involving people pretending to be orcs and warlocks rarely turn to be wholesome, but when they do, they manage to squeeze at least an “aww” out of most people.

One such D&D story was shared on Reddit by a user called Oceanundertow who recalled getting a call in the middle of the night from one of his friends. At first, the man suspected that his friend might’ve killed someone (hence the call at such a late hour), but soon the story took a heartwarming turn.

As it turns out, the friend’s daughter had been an avid fan of their Dungeons and Dragons board game sessions and found it a perfect bed-time story for her to fall asleep. Unfortunately, while her dad used recordings to play the footage on a usual evening, on that particular occasion, he left his laptop at the office, so the next best thing was to call the board game’s dungeon master himself and ask for a favor (which, thankfully, the man was willing to do).

And it turned out to be a success on both fronts! The girl, at first gleefully responding to the bedtime story, fell asleep within 20 minutes, and the RPG fan was left with an unexpected sense of fulfillment.
