A homeless dog waiting at a drive-thru menu for food in an uplifting pet story.

Local animal rescuer Zully Vasquez Ventura had known about the dog for a long time. She regularly fed strays around the Colony Ridge neighborhood and had tried repeatedly to help him. Whenever she offered food, he came running. But if she reached out to touch him, he quickly backed away.
Zully continued feeding him and posting about his situation, hoping a rescue organization would take him in. For months, however, finding him a safe placement remained difficult.
Everything changed when the dog discovered the nearby McDonald's. He began following cars through the drive-thru and barking at their windows, apparently learning that customers sometimes shared food.
One day, Zully pulled up to the ordering station and saw his remarkable routine for herself. The dog approached her vehicle, barked, made eye contact, and turned his nose toward the menu screen, as though showing her where to place an order.
She bought him a Big Mac hamburger.

A cute dachshund puppy with a crooked snout standing among flowers in a happy pet story.

Originally named Twister, Newt was rescued as a puppy after reportedly suffering a jaw injury that left his muzzle permanently crooked. He was later adopted, but the placement didn’t work out because the other dogs in the home struggled to accept him.
Then Melanie Price came into his life.
Melanie had already fallen in love with Newt’s photo, but she and her husband, Joshua, already had three dogs and weren’t planning to adopt another. So Joshua secretly submitted an adoption application - and surprised Melanie when they were approved.
The biggest worry was whether their oldest dog, Oscar, would accept the newcomer. But this time, things turned out differently. Oscar welcomed Newt, while Luna quickly became his closest companion.
Since joining his new family in 2023, Newt has grown into a playful, confident little dog. He eats independently, enjoys everyday adventures, and has won the hearts of thousands through his social media page, Newt with the Crooked Snoot.

It's no secret that we humans love having pets around. After all, owning a pet is one of the most common ways we interact with animals. And over the years, more and more people have welcomed them into their homes.

In fact, pet ownership has grown quite a bit in the United States. According to the American Pet Products Association, around 95 million households owned at least one pet in 2025, compared to 94 million in 2024.

A war veteran sitting outside visiting a dark-colored dog in a touching pet story

Every morning, Walt walked an entire mile from his senior apartment to the county animal shelter in Ottumwa, Iowa. He no longer drove, but nothing could stop him from making that journey.
He wasn't looking for a puppy. He asked to meet the oldest dog in the shelter.
That's when he met Duke, a big black Labrador who had spent more than a year being overlooked.
Walt gently clipped a leash onto Duke, and the two began walking slowly along the shelter's fence. Their little routine was simple: one peaceful lap together, followed by a dog biscuit waiting at the end.
But to Duke, it meant so much more than a walk.
By the second week, he was already waiting at the gate every morning at nine, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the man who had become his special friend.
One day, the shelter manager finally asked Walt a heartbreaking question:
"Why don't you just take Duke home?"
    Walt quietly opened his wallet.
Inside were just thirteen dollars: one ten-dollar bill and two one-dollar bills. He explained that the money had to last until the first of the following month.
It wasn't that Walt didn't want Duke.
He loved him. He simply couldn't afford to give him a home.
Then, someone at the shelter shared a photograph of Walt and Duke walking together along the fence. That evening, the commander of Walt's veterans' post saw the picture, and the story touched his heart.
At their next meeting, a hat was passed around the room.
When it came back, it held $2,300.

A loving dog owner embracing her XL Bully in a touching pet story about moving to Australia.

When Danielle worried that her beloved XL Bully, Enzo, was losing the simple joys he once loved, she made an extraordinary decision: move her family from the UK to Australia rather than leave him behind.
Enzo had been part of the family since 2022. He loved carrying toys, playing outside, and splashing around near the water. But after new restrictions on XL Bully dogs were introduced in Britain in late 2023, his public walks changed significantly. Even legally exempt dogs had to be kept on a lead and wear a muzzle in public.
Danielle said the restrictions made it harder for Enzo to enjoy some of his favorite activities, including picking up toys and sticks during walks.
Then she discovered a potential job opportunity in Australia and began exploring a new future for the whole family.
The move took approximately nine months of planning and £11,000 in expenses. After navigating the complicated international pet-travel process, Enzo finally reunited with his family at their new home.

A grateful rescued pit bull hugging its savior tightly, sharing a moving pet story.

A dog found wandering alone through a Texas town surprised his rescuers with an unusually affectionate gesture after being brought to safety. While spending time in the shelter's play area, the big gray bulldog mix climbed close to an animal control supervisor and wrapped himself around her in a long, gentle hug. Another employee captured the moment in a photograph that would soon attract attention far beyond Texas.
The dog was given the memorable name Mr. Snufflufugus, although the people caring for him affectionately called him Snuffy. He had been found roaming around Copperas Cove before local animal control officers brought him to their facility. Once there, staff quickly discovered that his imposing appearance concealed an exceptionally affectionate personality. He loved being near people and rarely passed up an opportunity to climb into someone's lap or snuggle beside them.

Police officer hugging a shelter pit bull dog

Bolo, a three-year-old pit bull mix living at a Kentucky animal shelter, was supposed to spend just one day visiting the Hopkinsville Police Department. But nobody expected the visit to change his life forever.
In October 2023, Bolo became the first dog to participate in “Paw-trol Wednesdays,” a program created to help shelter dogs meet people and find loving homes. Throughout the day, he charmed officers and staff with his friendly personality, playful nature, and loud office naps.
But when it was time to return to the shelter, Bolo lowered his head and whimpered. The officers had grown so attached to him that letting him go suddenly felt impossible.
Police Chief Jason Newby agreed that Bolo should stay, and Public Information Officer Royale Marfil became his owner. Soon, Bolo received an official ceremonial oath and a paw-print signature, making him the department’s first honorary Paw-trol Officer!

Lost German shepherd mix standing at a police station counter

The unusual visitor arrived at the Odessa Police Department in February 2020, surprising officers working the overnight shift. He was a friendly, one-year-old German Shepherd and Husky mix who appeared perfectly comfortable inside the station. Sergeant Rusty Martin later described how excited everyone was to have him there. Rather than acting frightened or distressed, the dog happily accepted attention from the officers, who even found a tennis ball and played fetch with him in the lobby.
There was just one problem. Although the dog was wearing a collar, his identification tag was missing, leaving officers unable to determine his name or contact his family. They called Odessa Animal Control to arrange a microchip scan, hoping it would help identify their unexpected guest. Before animal control could arrive, however, the dog decided his visit was over and walked back out through the doors.

Driver inside bus packed with pet crates in heart-warming pet stories about animal evacuations.

His name was Tony Alsup. He had seen how overcrowded shelters became during previous hurricanes and wanted to help animals that might otherwise be left behind. So he purchased an old school bus, removed its passenger seats, and turned the interior into a space for animal carriers, food, water, and rescue supplies.
When Florence threatened the Carolinas, Tony drove toward the coastal communities where shelters needed assistance. He visited several facilities across South Carolina, collecting dogs and cats that needed transportation to safer locations. By September 17, reports confirmed that his bus had carried 53 dogs and 11 cats out of the storm's path.
But one detail made his mission especially moving. At Saint Frances Animal Center in Georgetown, staff said Tony arrived around 4 a.m. to collect animals that other transports had not taken. Among them were large, blocky-headed dogs and dogs with heartworm disease. These were animals that often struggled to find places even under ordinary circumstances.
    Tony made room for them.
With carriers filling the bus, he drove the animals to Foley, Alabama, where his friend Angela Eib-Maddux helped receive them. They were given baths, blankets, and a chance to rest. Some were adopted quickly, while others were transferred to shelters and volunteers with space to care for them.

Adorable Dalmatian puppy with a heart-shaped nose, featured in wholesome pet stories.

His name is Wiley, and right above his nose is a black marking shaped almost perfectly like a heart.
When Lexi Smith brought Wiley home in March 2018, she had no idea how many people would eventually recognize his face. She had chosen him from a litter of eleven puppies in Oklahoma, and the decision had much more to do with his personality than his unusual appearance.
In fact, the heart was not even fully visible when Wiley was born. According to Lexi, the marking began appearing when he was around six weeks old. And because Dalmatian spots develop as puppies grow, she was not sure whether the shape would stay the same.
But as Wiley got bigger, the heart remained.

Two similar white Shar-Pei mix dogs sitting together in surprising pet stories

In December 2021, Alyssa DeLuca and her boyfriend, Zachary Chin, came across a Facebook post from Trenton Animals Rock, an animal rescue organization in New Jersey. The post featured a dog named Max, described as a Chow Chow and Shar-Pei mix, who needed a new home.
What immediately caught their attention was Max's resemblance to Zachary's dog, Arthur. The two had similar faces, coats, and expressions. Alyssa showed Zachary the photograph, and the couple decided to meet the shelter dog.
They traveled to Trenton and brought Max home, renaming him Wes. Although Wes was initially nervous in his new surroundings, he gradually settled into the household and developed a close relationship with Arthur.
The dogs began spending much of their time together. They walked, rested, and played side by side. Their personalities were not identical, but their physical resemblance was so striking that Alyssa and Zachary often joked about how similar they looked.
Eventually, the couple decided to order DNA tests through Embark. They wanted to learn more about Wes's breed background, while Arthur's test was also intended to provide health information.
The results revealed something far more surprising than either had expected. Wes and Arthur were biological brothers.

A golden dog wearing a bow tie waiting outside a shelter in a sad pet story

Charlie, a young mixed-breed dog at a shelter outside Greenville, South Carolina, was supposed to meet a potential adoptive family at 11 a.m.
The volunteers were so excited that they put his nicest bow tie on an hour early. Charlie seemed just as excited, waiting by the front gate and wagging his tail every time a car pulled into the parking lot.
    But the hours passed.
11 a.m. became noon. Noon became afternoon. And Charlie kept waiting.
The family never came. Later, shelter staff learned they had changed their minds without letting anyone know.
Charlie eventually went back inside after dark, still wearing his little bow tie.
Then a photo of him waiting at the gate caught the attention of a woman named Rebecca. She had been thinking about adopting a dog for months, but something about Charlie’s picture touched her heart.

Streets rescue story of a pit bull and a tiny yorkie

The dogs were discovered in June 2023 by a concerned woman who had noticed them staying near the same location. After asking neighbors whether anyone recognized the pair, she contacted Suzette Hall, founder of Logan's Legacy 29, a rescue organization that helps abandoned and homeless dogs. Hall arrived to find the two females resting tightly against each other near a fence, looking like an unlikely pair of lifelong companions.
As Hall approached, the smaller dog hurried toward her and allowed herself to be picked up. The larger pit bull was more cautious, but she immediately followed when Hall carried her little companion toward the rescue vehicle. Instead of running away, the pit bull approached the car and pressed her nose against the window, watching the smaller dog inside. When Hall opened the door, she jumped in without needing to be led on a leash.
The dogs were still determined to stay close once they were safely inside the vehicle. Hall initially placed the pit bull in a separate crate, but the smaller dog repeatedly tried to reach her friend. Realizing how strongly they preferred being together, Hall moved them into the same space. The two immediately curled up against each other and fell asleep.

Gandalf joined Roman's family in 2003 and quickly became much more than a childhood pet. Affectionately nicknamed Gannie, he spent his days following Roman around the house, curling up beside him, and sleeping near him every morning. As Roman grew from a young boy into a teenager and eventually an adult, Gandalf remained a familiar and comforting presence through life's many changes.
According to Roman, Gandalf had a big personality despite his gentle appearance. The family had other cats and several large dogs, but Gandalf confidently ruled the household. He loved attention, purred easily, enjoyed playing with toys, and made his displeasure very clear whenever his meals were even slightly late. As he grew older, his energy began to fade, but his affection for Roman remained. He spent more time resting beside him, particularly while Roman played video games.
Eventually, after approximately two decades together, Gandalf's declining health meant that the time to say goodbye had arrived. Roman wanted something meaningful to remember their extraordinary companionship. He found the childhood photograph his parents had taken back in 2003, put on a similar orange shirt, and set up a tripod to recreate the image with Gandalf resting in his arms once again.

A woman hugging her white dog in the snow, illustrating emotional pet stories.

On October 10, Lauren Padawer was out of the country celebrating her father’s 80th birthday when she learned that her partner, Brian, a friend, and LouLou, her 4-year-old dog, had been caught in an avalanche near Eklutna Lake in Alaska’s Chugach State Park. The avalanche swept the two men approximately 500 feet down the mountain, leaving them with serious injuries. Despite dangerous weather, military pararescue personnel reached them by helicopter and evacuated them for emergency medical care.
But while the men were rescued, LouLou was nowhere to be found.
One important tool was the Apple AirTag attached to LouLou’s collar. Its signal suggested she was somewhere in the steep alpine terrain, but pinpointing her location proved difficult. A difference of even half a mile could mean searching an entirely different ridge or mountainside.
As the hours passed, the uncertainty was agonizing. LouLou’s AirTag appeared to indicate she wasn’t moving, leaving her family fearing she might be badly injured—or worse.
Then, after approximately 50 hours missing in the mountains, came the breakthrough everyone had been praying for.
Volunteer pilots Dave Beckett and Amanda Barker detected LouLou’s AirTag again and managed to get close enough to search the area. Soon, Lauren received a photograph that brought her to tears. LouLou was alive, sitting on the snowy mountainside and watching the helicopter.

Then she noticed something that made her worry.
While removing her ex from the location-sharing feature on her phone, Sarah saw that he was at the animal shelter where he had originally adopted Banjo.

It happened in the early hours of Nov. 4, 2022.
Casper was approximately 20 months old, a young Great Pyrenees belonging to John Wierwille, whose landscaping business uses sheep to clear brush and invasive plants.
His job was to keep those sheep safe.
That night, he and another guardian dog, Daisy, were watching over five sheep near their owner’s home.
    Then the coyotes arrived.
Daisy was heavily pregnant and stayed with the flock. Casper confronted the predators, fighting those that entered the enclosure before jumping the fence to pursue the others.
According to Wierwille, the confrontation lasted more than half an hour.
    Every sheep survived unharmed.
    But Casper was gone.
After he disappeared beyond the enclosure, Wierwille searched for him and asked others to help.
Two days later, Casper came home. He had deep wounds. Seeing him, Wierwille feared he wouldn’t survive.
Casper underwent multiple surgeries and weeks of care. Slowly, he recovered and returned to his sheep

A caring dog resting its head comfortably on a young foal lying on hay outdoors.

The unusual friendship began in March 2019 at S & K Quarter Horses in Fayette, Alabama, where breeder Karla Swindle had welcomed a palomino colt named Tye. His mother, a mare named Sanjoves Cool Sis, had given birth on March 8, but just nine days later, she became seriously ill.
During the difficult night before the mare's passing, Swindle stayed in the barn caring for her. Zip remained nearby, but instead of following his usual routine, the red heeler settled beside the young foal in the barn aisle. Swindle recalled that the dog lay next to Tye and made soft whining sounds as the family dealt with the loss.
What happened afterward surprised her even more. Although Zip had previously paid little attention to the many foals born on the farm, he began seeking out Tye every morning. As Swindle headed toward the barn, Zip would hurry ahead and wait outside the colt's stall.
When the stall door opened, the dog went straight to Tye. If the foal was lying down, Zip often settled beside him, sometimes resting his head against the young horse's neck or body. Their quiet companionship became a familiar sight around the farm.

A hero dog Honey receiving love after protecting her family, shared in emotional pet stories.

When a bear wandered onto her family’s property in Cordova, New Mexico, Honey refused to back down. Despite the darkness, her age, and limited vision, she repeatedly stood between the much larger animal and the family’s animals—including more than 60 chickens and two horses.
The next morning, her family found her critically injured. Honey had suffered serious wounds to her neck and face and needed emergency surgery and intensive veterinary care.
Against all odds, this brave senior dog survived. And through it all, her gentle spirit remained.

Certified search-and-rescue K-9 sitting happily next to his handler outdoors, featuring hero pet stories.

Before Roma was trained to search for people in trouble, she was the dog who needed someone to come looking for her.
The Belgian Malinois was rescued in Davidson County, North Carolina, after authorities received a report about a dog who had been left behind. According to the organizations involved in her story, Roma was underweight and living in severely neglected conditions before she was taken to the Davidson County Animal Shelter.
For many dogs, reaching the shelter would have been the beginning of a search for an ordinary family home. Roma's path turned out very differently.
The Davidson County Rescue Squad was looking for a dog with the drive and temperament needed for search-and-rescue work. Roma showed potential, and instead of allowing her difficult beginning to define what came next, rescuers and trainers began preparing her for a completely new life.
Working alongside handler Amanda Tysinger, Roma developed into a certified search-and-rescue K-9. Her training has included demanding disciplines used to locate people in wilderness environments, disaster situations and other search operations.
The transformation eventually brought Roma national recognition.
In 2026, American Humane named her the Search and Rescue category winner in its Hero Dog Awards, recognizing a dog whose life had once looked very different from the one she has today.
Her award is impressive, but it is the path to that award that makes Roma's story difficult to forget.
She went from neglect and uncertainty to having a job, a handler and a purpose. The dog who once depended on strangers recognizing that she needed help became the dog trained to go looking when someone else needs to be found.

Golden retriever greeting an elderly man using a walker on the sidewalk, illustrating wholesome pet stories.

Richard was 90 and lived in a nearby retirement community. His daily walks with his walker had become part of Maisy’s routine, too.
Whenever she spotted him approaching, Maisy would get up from the grass, her tail wagging faster as she made her way over. Richard would stop to give his furry friend a few gentle pets before continuing his walk.
Videos shared by Maisy’s owner in 2022 captured their sweet routine.
Then one morning, Maisy showed up carrying a leaf in her mouth. She walked over to Richard and, according to her owner, seemed to be bringing him a little gift.
There was no dramatic rescue or extraordinary event behind their friendship. Just a senior man taking his morning walk and a senior dog who had learned to look forward to seeing him.

Police officer posing proudly with a trained Malinois police K-9, highlighting inspiring pet stories.

Mal, now 1 year old, was discovered by Fort Lauderdale police officers when she was still a puppy. Because she could not remain tied at the property, Broward County Animal Care took custody of her and placed her in the shelter while officials waited to see whether an owner would come forward.
    No one did.
Officer Dougle Ng-A-Kien of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department then decided to foster Mal and explore whether the shelter dog had the ability to become a working police K-9. Rather than giving her different standards because of where she came from, Ng-A-Kien said he evaluated her the same way he would a working dog obtained through a professional vendor.
    Mal kept passing the tests.
After weeks of training, the young Belgian Malinois demonstrated the skills needed for police work and was trained for explosives detection. Police officials said she has actually been working on duty since July and has performed well during her first months on the job.

Fishermen on a boat rescuing dozens of dogs from water, representing heroic pet stories.

On June 8, 2024, Bob Gist and his friend Brad Carlisle were fishing at Grenada Lake in Mississippi with local guide Jordan Chrestman when they noticed something strange in the distance.
There were dogs in the water — dozens of them.
The hound dogs were wearing tracking collars and numbers from a fox hunt. They had apparently chased a deer into the lake and kept going until they were far from shore. Many were exhausted, swimming in circles and unable to find their way back.
The fishing trip instantly became a rescue mission.
Chrestman maneuvered the boat alongside the dogs while Gist and Carlisle pulled them aboard one by one. Some were so tired that the men had to keep their heads above the water before lifting them into the boat.
There were too many to rescue in one trip, so they went back out again… and again.
It ultimately took three trips to bring all 38 dogs safely back to shore. Some had reportedly been struggling in the water for 45 minutes to an hour.
When the owners offered the men money for saving their dogs, they refused.

Woman reunited with her missing dog after years, a highlight of touching pet stories.

Courtney last saw Lilly in August 2021 after a breakup, when her former partner took the dog. Years passed without Lilly returning, and Courtney eventually moved several times before settling in Boise, Idaho. Still, she continued updating the contact information connected to Lilly’s microchip.
Then, in September 2026, a stray dog appeared in Mound City, Kansas.
Dirt Road Rescue became involved, and volunteers decided to check the dog for a microchip. It was the kind of scan that does not always produce an answer, especially when a dog has been missing for years.
    This time, it did.
The dog was Lilly, and the information attached to her chip still led back to Courtney.
The discovery ended more than five years of uncertainty, but there was another problem to solve. Courtney and Lilly were approximately 900 miles apart. Dirt Road Rescue volunteers began arranging a way to bring them back together.
On September 19, volunteers Megan Purvis and Janet Jackson traveled to Loveland, Colorado, where they met Courtney for the reunion.
After more than five years, Lilly was back with the person who had never expected to receive that phone call.

Heroic cardiac alert dog wearing an award medal featured in emotional pet stories.

Denali is a cardiac alert service dog who works with Molly Krumm, a Kentucky library trustee who lives with POTS dysautonomia. His job is to recognize signs that Molly may be approaching a fainting episode and alert her before it happens.
Their bond was almost immediate. Molly says Denali gave his very first alert just minutes after meeting her.
Then, in July, Denali noticed something completely unexpected.
A man suddenly collapsed in front of Molly and Denali. Denali alerted Molly that something was wrong. When she reached the man, she found that he was not breathing and had no pulse.
    Molly immediately started CPR.
She performed four rounds before first responders arrived, and she later said responders told her that her quick action had helped save the man's life.
Denali didn't perform the CPR. He did something just as important—he recognized that something was wrong and alerted the person who knew what to do

Golden retriever holding a letter from a mailman, illustrating heartwarming pet stories.

Pippa lived in Brisbane, Australia, along the delivery route of Australia Post worker Martin Studer. Whenever Martin arrived, Pippa would run out to meet him, take the family’s letters gently in her mouth and proudly carry them back home. It became their little routine, and Martin quickly realized how much she seemed to enjoy it.
Then came the days when Martin had nothing to give her.
Pippa would still come out expecting her delivery, but there might not be a single envelope addressed to the house. Martin could have simply continued down his route.
    Instead, he improvised.
He took an Australia Post delivery notice and wrote a special message across it: Mail for Pippa. Sometimes he added little hearts or another small decoration. Then he handed the paper to Pippa just as he would the regular mail.
Pippa happily accepted her special delivery and carried it away.

A man hugging his adopted pit bull in a heartwarming pet story about shelter animals.

Bubba was staying at Lewis & Clark Humane Society in Helena, Montana. The shelter described him as an affectionate dog who loved giving kisses, spending time with people, and curling up for cuddles. He had plenty of love to offer, but he still needed a family of his own.
During his stay, Bubba developed a special bond with one of the shelter's male volunteers. The man visited him regularly, taking him for walks and giving him the attention he enjoyed so much. For Bubba, those visits became a familiar part of shelter life.
    Then came his 94th day.
According to a 2017 account shared by the shelter, the volunteer arrived for their usual time together. But instead of simply taking Bubba for a walk and returning him to his kennel, the man brought him to the front desk. Shelter staff gathered to give Bubba affection and say goodbye while the volunteer completed adoption paperwork.
The man who had been visiting him was taking him home.

A man bonding with a huge wolf featured in pet stories about human-animal connections.

The man in the video is identified as Andrey, and the animal beside him is a wolf named Akela.
In the recording, Andrey sits close to Akela while the wolf moves around him. The animal presses his face toward the man and begins tugging at the hood of his sweatshirt.
Then Akela climbs partly onto him.
For anyone who has ever had a big dog insist on attention, the scene might look familiar. There is the close contact, the playful movement, and the apparent determination to turn a quiet moment into a game.
The difference is that Akela is described as a wolf, not a domestic dog. And that distinction matters.
Wolves and dogs share an evolutionary history, and some of their social behaviors can look remarkably similar. But wolves are wild animals with different needs and instincts.
What the recording does show is a striking interaction between a very large animal and a man who appears accustomed to being close to him.
It is a fascinating reminder that behaviors we recognize in our dogs can sometimes appear in their wild relatives too.

A small Corgi touching noses with a large Alaskan Malamute outdoors, featured in heartwarming pet stories.

The unlikely friendship began in Great Falls, Virginia, when Fiona was still a puppy. Her owners, Chris Equale and Sarah Rasmussen, regularly walked her through the neighborhood, passing a house where Kili, a Malamute weighing more than 100 pounds more than Fiona, often waited outside.
At first, Fiona was intimidated by the much larger dog. But after several encounters, Fiona gradually became comfortable enough to approach her enormous neighbor, and the two developed a close friendship.
Their meetings soon became part of the dogs' daily routine.
That routine came to an unexpected stop when an emergency at Fiona's family home required extensive repairs. Chris and Sarah had to relocate temporarily, leaving Fiona unable to visit her neighborhood friend for more than a year.
Eventually, when they returned to inspect the progress of the repairs, they decided it was safe enough for Fiona to come along.
They greeted each other with wagging tails and affectionate interactions.

Police officer kneeling to pet a friendly Border Collie he adopted, representing touching pet stories.

The officer had been told that a vicious dog was chasing children in the neighborhood.
But when he arrived, he found the opposite.
Children were chasing the dog, throwing glass bottles at him while people shouted from their windows.
The officer followed the Border Collie into an alley to observe his behavior. Then he stepped out of his patrol car and gently called him over.
The dog approached with his tail tucked between his legs, panting.
He gave the frightened dog water and stayed with him.
The dog everyone had called dangerous was quietly accepting his help.
But bringing him to the shelter wasn’t the end of their story.
Over the next few days, the officer returned to check on the dog he had rescued.
    Nobody came to claim him.
Three days after answering the call, the officer adopted the Border Collie, named him Bo, and brought him home to join his two other dogs.

Man with his dog who received personalized treatment in inspiring pet stories.

Rosie, an eight-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier–Shar Pei mix, was battling aggressive mast cell cancer, with large tumors affecting one of her back legs. After surgery and chemotherapy, she was reportedly given only months to live.
Her owner, Australian data scientist Paul Conyngham, began looking for another possibility. Using genetic sequencing of Rosie’s tumor, along with computational tools including ChatGPT and AlphaFold, he worked through the enormous amount of data looking for potential treatment targets.
That journey eventually connected him with researchers at the UNSW RNA Institute, who helped develop a personalized mRNA vaccine based on mutations found in Rosie’s own tumor.
Rosie received her first injection in December 2025, followed by another dose. According to reports about the project, one of her large tumors later shrank by around 75%.
Even more meaningful was the change her family saw in her day-to-day life. A dog who had struggled to move was reportedly running around the dog park again—and even jumping a fence while chasing a rabbit.
