“Which Renaissance Workshop Would You Apprentice In?”: 25 Questions To Find Out

Every era needs its specialists, and the Renaissance had a particularly stubborn approach to figuring out where you belonged. You didn’t just pick a trade; you got handed to a master for years, learned by watching, ruined a lot of materials, and eventually became the kind of person who could tell if a stone was set wrong from across a room.

It’s not so different from how people sort themselves out now, honestly. Some of us want the precise, patient work. Some of us want the job with a little fire in it, literally. Some of us just want to know we’re right about the coastline before we commit to anything.

This quiz asks the questions a master might’ve actually cared about back then, the small tells that separate a cartographer from a goldsmith from someone who was clearly born to run a print shop. None of it requires you to know anything about the actual Renaissance, just to be honest about how you’d behave under a deadline, a flame, or a disappointed patron.

Answer as yourself, not as who you’d like to be assigned to. The workshops don’t care which one sounds more impressive, and neither should you.

The Anatomist's Workshop You want to know what's actually underneath, and you're rarely satisfied with the version of the story that stays on the surface. Squeamishness isn't really in your vocabulary; you'd rather look directly at the uncomfortable thing than politely avoid it. You ask the question everyone else is thinking but too polite to say out loud, and you don't apologize for it. There's a bluntness to you that some people mistake for coldness, when really it's just honesty without the decoration. You're the one people quietly trust to tell them the truth, because you've never once pretended not to notice something.
