Out Of Site, Out Of Time: I Take Children’s Portraits Using Wet Plate Techinque
I make portraits on colored glass and aluminium plates. I use an old photographic technique called wet plate collodion. It is quite a challenging technique, particularly when working with children.
The process requires long exposures that ease the sitters into detaching themselves from their immediate surrounds, almost as if suspended in time and in space. That state of limbo fascinates me.
