Artist Reveals Drag Queens Within World Leaders And Dictators

The anonymous artist Saint Hoax has pushed the boundaries of taboo and humour with his “War Drags You Out“ project, which features a series of digital illustrations that transform iconic world leaders and dictators into distinctive drag queens. And it‘s not just easy targets like Hitler or George W. Bush, but tough cases like Vladimir Putin and Osama Bin Laden as well. The works led to a shower of email death threats for the artist.

The artist said that he found iconic political figures very similar to drag queens, as they are “formed“ from the same recipe of a distinctive persona. In his own words, these features are these: “1. Flamboyant name, 2. Fierce persona, 3. Defining outfits 4. Personalized hairdo 5. A trademark feature 6. One hell of a PR team.“ Saint Hoax explains; “Like drag queens, political/religious leaders are expected to entertain, perform and occasionally lip-sync a public speech. But unlike drag queens, the fame hungry leaders don‘t know when to take their costumes off.“
