Artist Whose Painting Got Mistaken For A Van Gogh Creates Adorable “Starry Night” Dog Series (30 Pics)
When we last presented you the artist Aja Trier, she was cleverly painting using van Gogh's swirling Starry Night style. While Trier continues to analyze this world-famous painting for art inspiration, she's been using her insights to recreate more and more adorable dogs.
Her Starry Night Dogs series imagines a world in which our beloved four-legged friends sat for van Gogh. Much like her previous painting ideas, each portrait features the familiar Starry Night sky rendered in the thick brushstrokes characteristic of Post-Impressionism. And while spiraling clouds and sparkling stars are still there, Trier often adds a little bit of her own to these colorful paintings.

She's got Van Gogh's sense of movement mastered, as well as how he would outline subjects in his works. See the remnants of a sunset in the atmosphere over the mountains?

Oh, wow, this is beautiful! You can practically feel the aurora moving across the sky and the wind in the dog's thick fur.

The horizon line of mountains cuts this composition in half, flattening everything, which bothers my eye. It's still sweet and fun.

OMG woman, if you hit any dog shows, you will sell out! The accuracy and expressions are spot on; a rare thing I can tell you. I also am delighted in the colours and textures.
