“What Are Some Crimes That Will Most Likely Never Get Resolved But Are 99% Sure Who Is Responsible?” (56 Answers)
The human obsession with mysteries has been absolutely fantastic for genre writers who can produce text after text of crimes being solved. Unfortunately, some real life crimes remain cold cases, but there is a fine line between “unsolved” and an inability for the authorities to actually prosecute.
Someone asked “What are some crimes that will most likely never get solved but are 99% sure who is responsible?” and people online gave their best examples. So get comfortable as you scroll through, upvote the most interesting and be sure to share your own ideas in the comments below.

Personal, but my Aunt.
Lived with s*****g boyfriend after leaving strict conservative upbringing. She was paying her way through nursing school by dancing at less than reputable establishments.
Boyfriend was older and a*****e. She was packing a bag one night, supposedly to leave. There's two 911 calls, one of her saying he was threatening to shoot her, which got cut off. One a few minutes later of him saying she shot herself.
My dad and grandpa cleaned out the apartment, holes with hair in the wall from where he slammed her, and the half packed suitcase on the bed.
She was shot in the temple, and was braindead, removed from life support a week later. No one did anything, not the cops or family. No one pursued it and dude just dipped town. My mom was deeply upset and went to the cops a few times for records, trying to push the case, got blown off. They even ended up asking how (boyfriend) was. They were all buddies.
She was only 20.
Sandra Lynn Kerby, school teacher from my hometown who disappeared in 1999. Her husband is the prime suspect, as he stopped cooperating, and proposed to his girlfriend, with whom he’d been having an affair for years, not long after his wife’s “disappearance”. My best friend of 22 year’s dad is a police sgt and he says they all know it’s her husband.
No body cases are notoriously tough. Unless you have other evidence like blood or something concrete it's almost impossible to prosecute.
I'm never going to stop saying Cody Haynes.
His dad k****d him. Shoddy small town police work let him walk free. Cody went missing in September 2004. His father died January 2019 and we'll likely never know where Cody's body is.
Cody Haynes, was a boy who went missing in 2004. His father and stepmother, who had a history of abusing Cody and his siblings, are suspected of murdering him. This was his sisters account of what happened that day: She remembers hearing him being punished for not doing the dishes the night before he was reported missing. She recalled hearing what sounded like Cody being hit. By the morning of Sept. 12, she remembers a “Do Not Disturb” sign hung over the curtain that covered Cody’s room, and the other children were told not to enter.
Kristine Kupka. Pregnant Brooklyn college student missing since 1998, last seen with the father of her child—also her professor—who wanted her to have an abortion (she refused).
Kristine Kupka left her sister Kathy a phone message on the morning October 24, 1998. She stated that she was going out with the father of her unborn baby, Darshanand Persaud, also known as Rudy, to help him clean his new apartment and that she would call later. Kathy never heard from her 28 year old pregnant sister again. Kristine, a Baruch College student in New York City was 5 months pregnant and looking forward to a life as a single mother. Rudy was the baby's father. He had been Kristine's teacher at Baruch. When Kristine informed Rudy that she was pregnant, he told her that he was married. Tension rose between Kristine and Rudy over the pregnancy. He feared that it would ruin his life and his family would shun him. He pleaded with her to have an abortion. She feared him and told her roommate "If anything happens to me, Rudy did it."
Patricia Adkins. Had an affair with co-worker. Lent him close to $100k. Asks for it back. He invites her on a camping trip. She never comes back. When questioned he claims to not even know her, though it's proven he does. No body, no case. He walks away a richer m******r. Not even shamed publicly, because police withhold his identity. Screwy case.
Adkins, who has been declared legally d.ead, was last seen leaving the Honda of America Manufacturing plant at the end of her shift late that night. Adkins was reported missing by her sister on July 8 after failing to pick up her 7-year-old daughter. According to NBC News, Adkins was scheduled to take a trip to Canada with her boyfriend, but no one, including family members, heard from her. Additionally, there has been no reported activity with respect to financial or personal records since her disappearance. NBC News reported that police interviewed Adkins’ boyfriend, but he denied having anything to do with her missing. Though the Union County Sheriff’s Office said her boyfriend remains the primary suspect, there has not been enough evidence to connect him to a crime.
The Doodler was a serial killer in the 70s who k****d up to 14 people, mostly gay men. He was named that because sketches of the victims would often be found near their bodies.
The police at the time had one suspect that they were convinced was responsible, and after he was arrested the murders stopped. However, because some of his surviving victims were still in the closet and therefore unwilling to out themselves by testifying against him, he was never charged and to this day his name has never been released.
This happened in San Francisco, CA. They're still trying to catch him and there's a new sketch. I'll post the pic below.
Kathleen McCormack Durst
Blind Freddy in a cellar full of water can see that her husband Robert Durst was 100% responsible. A truly vile human being; a serial killer and dog killer, only acquitted of m****r because of his wealth and social status.
Kathy Page. It is so obvious her p.o.s. husband m******d her and the police are letting him get away with it. I'd hate to perpetuate a stereotype but I am surprised her family hasn't had an "accidental" hunting or fishing accident and gotten rid of him.
He staged a car accident but the COD was strangulation. Her father was so disgusted that the guy got away with it he rented billboards along the interstate in Texas calling out her estranged husband by name and accusing local police of doing a poor job.
The "Dupont de Ligonnès" case, France, 2011. The whole family was found d**d, burried under the terrace, *except the dad.* He had written an email 1 year before, stating that he had financial & professional issues and was considering a collective s*****e of his family. Weeks before the m****r he had inherited his dad's 22 long Rifle and started going to the shooting range. The week before the m****r, he had bought lime, big trash bags, shovels, a silencer, rifle bullets. The bank accounts were closed, the lease on the house ended, etc.
He was last seen on a surveillance footage in the Var, and was never ever heard of again.
About a month ago a man was seized at Glasgow airport, they believed it was him, but no.
So yeah, and the crime remains "unsolved".
It's not really unsolved. Authorities know he did it, but where he is now is the mystery. He tried to make it look like the family had emigrated, telling his wife's employer and his children's school that they wouldn't be back as they were moving to Australia. He obviously didn't anticipate the police digging up the patio and finding the bodies so quickly. These days, it's very difficult to completely disappear, so he has possibly ended his life.
Dottie Caylor case. A shy, agoraphobic home-sitting woman is dropped off at a train station by her husband never to be seen again.
The husband was interviewed in one of the earliest episodes of UnresolvedMysteries and he is guilty as f. I never seen so "who cares?" guy speaking about disappearance of his wife. It is a known fact he had an affair while she disappeared and shortly after he married the other woman. I am skeptical in 99% of cases, but here I am certain that a husband is involved. Anyway he is an official POI, just no-one has enough evidence to make a case.
Also literally no one but him saw her at the train station and it's likely he k****d her.
Sandra Bertolas. Teenager in Wisconsin who vanished in 1988. She told friends she was pregnant and had told her boyfriend, although the pregnancy wasn't confirmed. Sandra then found out her boyfriend was in another long-term relationship. She had his license plate run, and found out he wasn't even using his real name and address. After the fallout, he begged her to meet him so they could talk, and she reluctantly agreed. She drove to a bowling alley, a half-way point where they'd meet, and disappeared.
In the investigation, the cops met with the boyfriend, who is never publicly named. The night she disappeared, the boyfriend called out sick for his work shift of 4pm-midnight. He admits to calling Sandra a couple times that day, but denies ever meeting with her. After his initial interview with police, he refused to cooperate further in the investigation. Police and family are sure he is responsible, but there wasn't enough evidence to pursue the case. His father worked on the grounds of a local cemetery, and the boyfriend had worked there temporarily. Dogs tracking Sandra's scent from a hairbrush led them to that same cemetery. It is assumed the boyfriend and/or his father buried Sandra on the cemetery grounds. They even exhumed a local cemetery plot that was open at the time Sandra disappeared, but didn't find her body. This is a case of no-body, no-crime.
From The Charley Project: *Police believe foul play was involved in Bertolas's case, possibly at the hands of her boyfriend, who now works as a firefighter. Prosecutors conducted a 21-month John Doe probe into the case in 2002 and over fifty witnesses testified before a grand jury, but the probe concluded without any indictments being issued.*
Her family is still looking for Sandra, and answers. J-S News Article: *"Was she buried alive? Did she lie there in pain? How were those final moments? You don't know how it happens. Every scenario is the last chapter written in your mind, you want the closure that you need."*.
Susan Powell. It's so infuriating that we will never get definitive answers on this, but all signs point to her husband Josh Powell k*****g her. I highly recommend Dave Cawley's podcast Cold about the case, even if you're familiar with the case. It sheds a lot of light onto the Powell family and how most of them probably covered for Josh before he took his life and the lives of his children.
anon:
I don’t think her husband would’ve blown the house up with both him and his kids in it if he wasn’t guilty. Plus the sketchiness of his side of the family... I feel horrible for her parents losing their daughter and grandkids. I just hope they find her someday.
If you're not familiar with the case: On December 6, 2009, Susan Marie Powell, a 28‑year‑old mother of two from West Valley City, Utah, disappeared from her home under suspicious circumstances. Her husband, Joshua Powell, was identified by police as a person of interest but was never charged. In February 2012, after a court awarded temporary custody of the couple's two sons to her parents, Joshua k.illed the children and himself in a deliberate house explosion during a supervised visit.
Rebecca Zahau. Her body was found n**e, bound at the wrists and ankles and hanging by the neck from her balcony. Police ruled it a s*****e. The only other person at the mansion was her brother in law. At the scene of the crime they found two knives and a cryptic message written on the wall, along with men's boot prints on the balcony.
Bailey Sarian made a really informative video covering the case.
The important part of this case is missing! Her d.eath occurred two days after 6-year-old Max Shacknai, the son of her boyfriend Jonah Shacknai, had fallen from the staircase of the same property. At the time she died, Max was in critical condition in the hospital. Zahau and her then teenaged sister, Xena, were the only known people present at the time of Max's fall. Subsequently on July 16, 2011, Max Shacknai died of his injuries. The theory is that her boyfriend's brother k.illed her as revenge because he thought she was responsible for his nephew's accident. The whole thing is crazy.
Alissa Turney
The details of this one are insane. On May 17th, 2001, 17 year old Alissa Turney was removed from school in Phoenix, Arizona early on the last day of classes by her stepfather Michael Turney. While at lunch, Mr. Turney alleges that they had argued about Alissa getting extra privileges over the summer. Upon returning home at around 11 am, Alissa stormed upstairs to her room, and Michael left to run errands and pick up Alissa's younger sister Sarah. When he and Sarah got home, Alissa was nowhere to be found. She left behind 1800 dollars in cash, and many personal belongings.
Despite the signs that Alissa had not left of her own accord, when Michael Turney reported his stepdaughter missing to the police, he stated to them that he knew exactly where she was, and was only calling in to make sure a search didn't occur if somebody else noticed her missing. And then he turned around and told the family that he didn't know where Alissa was, and they needed to look for her. A few weeks passed, and Turney claimed that he had received a call from Alissa stating she was in California, and ok. I'll come back to that phone call in a second, because I need to get into motive.
When the police finally began to investigate Alissa's d***h properly, after someone else had claimed to k**l her, the case against Michael Turney began to strengthen. Over 20 statements were gathered from Alissa's boyfriend, friends, family, and a teacher Michael was dating alleging that Mr. Turney had s******y a****d Alissa. There is evidence that Michael treated Alissa more like a girlfriend he was possessive of then a daughter. Alissa worked at a local Jack-in-the-Box, and there is surveillance of Michael sitting in his car, watching her at work. In addition, he forced Alissa to sign 'contracts' preventing her from reporting his a***e, and a home video includes her saying, "Sarah, Dad's a pervert." Finally, Michael took the step of calling CPS himself, and stating that his stepdaughter was using allegations of s****l a***e to get what she wanted, and not to believe her if she reported him. (How the f**k this didn't trigger an investigation is one of this case's biggest mysteries).
In addition to watching Alissa at home, Michael also watched her at home. His house was rigged up with surveillance cameras, one of which was placed in a vent and recorded her bedroom, without Alissa's knowledge of this camera. (This also strengthens the s****l a***e claims). However, all of these cameras were 'mysteriously' not working the day that Alissa went missing. And this wouldn't be the only technology 'failure' that occurred. Remember Alissa's alleged phone call from California? Well Michael also had a system that recorded all incoming calls, except this one particular call that proved his missing daughter was alive. He would later claimed the system wasn't working, but you had to physically turn it off for it not to record calls.
This is only the tip of the iceberg, all pointing towards the fact Michael Turney k****d Alissa Turney, and hid her body somewhere in the desert. If you want more information and to go further down the rabbit hole, Alissa's sister Sarah has a website called Justice for Alissa, where I sourced much of my information. In addition, Sarah Turney helped create a podcast dedicated to the case called Missing Alissa.
Unfortunately, presumably due to the lack of a body, the police are reluctant to move forward with the case and make an arrest, and the desert is so vast that it would be almost impossible to find Alissa's remains.
Her sister has been fighting for justice for years. It is heartbreaking.
Terrance Williams (2004) and Felipe Santos (2003). Deputy Steve Calkins is 100% responsible.
In separate incidents, both men were last seen after having been arrested by Calkins, who claimed he had "changed his mind" about the arrests and dropped the men off at Circle K convenience stores. Neither man has been seen or heard from since.
This one is beyond shady because there are dozens of complaints against Calkins for assaulting people he arrested. He has a criminal history and yet was still a cop. The footage from the Circle K shows his cop car circling but no one exits the car. He is also the suspect in several other unexplained deaths in custody.
Sherese Walker Bingham. Walking her two GSDs when she was shot with her own pistol which was then left at the scene. All evidence points to her husband who was having a 14 year affair that involved property ownership with his mistress. They have been trying to nail him for years, but much of the evidence is circumstantial.
JESSICA CHAMBERS- she was set on fire in her car after a late night rendezvous with Quinton Tellis who was tried twice but ended up in hung jury both times.
Cold case in my city. Elizabeth Salgado arrived in Provo Utah to study English. She had I think two uncles who lived here, but her remaining family was in Mexico.
She was here 18 days. She had the same routine every day. She didn’t speak much English and she didn’t know hardly anyone. She would walk from her apartment to the Nomen Global school which I believe is where she was learning English.
Her body was missing for three years before someone found her remains in Hobble Creek Canyon. Her front teeth were busted out, so she was fighting for her life. Her last message to her sister lacked her usual overly affectionate tone, and simply said she was walking home from school. Her family believes that message was sent by the killer to give them more time.
A lot of people for a long time scrutinized the uncles. I’m pretty sure the police investigated them heavily. My personal suspicion is that it may have been another student at the school or someone who had met her at her apartment complex, because I believe I read a story about how some of them would cook meals together.
Really freaking sad. Her family is destroyed over it. There was a huge reward for info that led to the killer.
Jonbenet Ramsey. Pretty sure it was a family member (I'm leaning towards the son, followed by parents covering it up). The ransom note is definitely written by mom or dad. I think they'll all take whatever really happened to the grave.
zighawk:
I think this one was the dad. Many years ago I took a week-long class on handwriting analysis, specifically for written statements. It is far from an exact science, but it's meant to find "tells" in the statements to use in follow-up questioning. Anyway, the instructor used the father's statement as an in-class example for talking us through the process. The instructor, this old Israeli guy (wonder what he used to do) kept making these coy remarks about the father's choice of phrase and stuff. By the end we were all like WTF? It was the dad? And the instructor just gave this shrug, like, ho-hum, who can say? Problem is, this kind of analysis isn't usually persuasive in court, but this old dude had been doing it so long we were convinced.
Sadly I think this is one that we're never going to know. Poor kid. I also think it was the brother. But all the evidence is gone and there's no way to prove anything. 😥
This happened in my state back in 1993. A teenage girl named Hang Lee went with a friend of hers to interview for a job where her friend worked. On her way out, she told her brother that if she didn’t come back, he should go look for her. She was never seen again after that night.
The interview was with a guy named Mark Steven Wallace. He had some prior convictions for a*****t in the 80s, and in 2016 he was arrested after holding a girl hostage, s******y assaulting her, and beating her. She was a friend of his daughter and originally started staying with him because she had some other personal stuff going on. At one point she apparently found out about Hang Lee and asked him about it. He said, “She walked into my business and never came out.” Eventually he started telling her he knew how to cut through bone and how to dispose of a body without leaving any evidence, and even started threatening her by saying he’d do the same thing to her as he did to the other girl.
It’s pretty obvious that he k****d Hang Lee, but there was just no physical evidence. It’s also worth noting that the friend who took her to the job interview refuses to cooperate or talk to police.
I’d say that so called friend was involved in some way why else would she refuse to cooperate
The Bowraville Murders.
Within a short period of time, three indigenous teenagers (2 female and one male) went missing in the small town of Bowraville, NSW, Australia.
A white man named Jay Hart lived on the edge of the mish there, and a great deal of evidence pointed him to be very related to all of the crimes.
The police and prosecution, due to racial bias, didn't perform a bang up job in investigating the crimes. The suspect walked free, and any accomplices (he was believed by locals to have some) weren't revealed.
He fled the area, and lives free, but is no doubt always looking over his shoulder.
These children (only two were teenagers) deserve their names. Colleen Walker-Craig, 16, Clinton Speedy-Duroux, 16, and Evelyn Greenup, 4.
Linda Sherman's disappearance and m****r.
Her husband clearly k****d her. Her daughter clearly saw her body. Don clearly placed her skull outside of his favorite restaurant and sent anonymous letters to the police so she could be legally declared d**d.
It's so clear what happened, which makes it all the more infuriating that no one has been charged.
Leaving is one of the most dangerous times in a.busive relationships Linda Sherman's husband was Donald Edward Sherman (Don Sherman). They married in February 1975, and she later disappeared in April 1985 as she was planning to leave the marriage. He was long regarded as the prime suspect in her disappearance and m****r, though he maintained his innocence and the case remains officially unsolved
The 1981 mystery d***h of actress Natalie Wood (there's actually an easter egg in Trantino's *Once Upon A Time In Hollywood* ).
"She drowned off the coast of Catalina Island in California in November 1981 after she went missing from the Splendour, her family's yacht. Also aboard that night were Captain Dennis Davern, Natalie Wood's husband Robert Wagner and her friend, fellow actor Christopher Walken. The next day, the actress was found floating in the water wearing a red down jacket and flannel nightgown. After a two-week investigation, the d***h was ruled an accident. But in 2011 the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reopened the d***h investigation. And in 2012, the Los Angeles Coroner's Office amended the d***h certificate, changing the manner of d***h **from an accidental drowning to "drowning and other undetermined factors.**
In 2018, after a seven-year investigation, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Detective Ralph Hernandez and Lieutenant John Corina told "48 Hours" exclusively that they now **had enough new evidence to officially name Wood's then-husband, actor Robert Wagner, often called RJ, a "person of interest" in the d***h of his wife. Wagner has refused to speak with investigators since the case was reopened. "
She was intoxicated at the time, having been drinking heavily and taken a sleeping pill. Most likely she did just fall overboard.
There are quite a few cases on The Vanished podcast that fit exactly into this mold. Too many to list specifically, but in at least 3 cases I've listened to it is abundantly obvious the husband/wife/girlfriend/significant other is responsible, but due to a combination of lazy/bad police work and a lack of evidence, no charges are ever brought. One case I do recall is a guy named Chance (I forget the last name). He was with his wife's male family members golfing most of the day in their home state, one away from his home state, and ended up hanging out with some of them after. He got into some sort of argument with one of them, got picked up by his wife, got out of the car once they got back to the house, walked away and has never been seen again. She asked police for a d***h certificate the next day. She also claimed their relationship was super but everyone else interviewed said it was rocky at best. He was unfamiliar with the area but she was familiar. It was just him and her entire family. She knows what happened. She's never been charged with anything and probably never will be.
Kyron Horman. Stepmom did it. Edit: since people keep replying the same thing, he did go to the science fair at school, but did not go to class even though his stepmother said that she watched him go to class. He was never in the CLASSROOM.
Yup and the last security video feed shows them walking hand in hand. She had expressed to multiple people how much she wanted to get rid of him.
Lynn Messer.
Lynn went missing in July 2014. The morning she went missing her husband had his son move their herd of cows to a different field which ruined the scent trail. He had also recently cleaned the bed of his truck, stating he’d washed the dog there. Shortly after her disappearance he married another woman. Her remains were found on the edge of the farm in November 2016.
I know I listened to a podcast about this that had way more info that made it seem pretty obvious that the husband was involved. I think it was Crime J****e. His own sons thought his behavior afterwards as well as answers he gave to the police were suspicious. He lied to the police about Lynn taking antidepressants. It seemed as though he was ashamed of that fact. The coroner wasn’t able to determine how she died but it is believed her body was on the farm the entire time.
Casey Anthony.
RunTheWatchOver:
Living in Orlando, I remember staying late at work with coworkers so we could watch the verdict. She did it. 100%. The DA should not have gone for capital murder and the death penalty. No jury was going to convict a 22 year old, pretty, middle class white girl to death. Especially in the south. Edit: Should be called the murder of Caylee Anthony
She had the absolute gall afterwards to accuse her dad of m0lesting her. Piece of absolute sh!te.
Not sure if this meets the 99% sure criteria but I was left with cold chills after listening to S2 of Someone Knows Something. Either way the boyfriend (Michael Lavoie) has never been arrested.
From Wikipedia...
The story covers the disappearance of Sheryl Sheppard in Hamilton, Ontario. Sheppard went missing on January 2, 1998, two days after her boyfriend, Michael Lavoie, offered a proposal of marriage on a live TV broadcast. With some assistance from Sheppard's mother, Odette Fisher, Ridgen looks into the case as well as the backgrounds of both Sheryl and Michael, who has been the only person the Hamilton Police Service has named as a suspect in Sheryl's disappearance.
The very few posts I’ve ever cared to make is about Michelle O’Connell . Fl mother breaks up with an a*****e small town sheriff’s deputy. He played it off as s*****e and remains on the force today.
The Robinson/Good Hart murders. The entire family was m******d in their lake house and everyone could tell it was a business associate of the father, Joseph Scolaro. He was unaccounted for for 12 hours the day of the m****r, his multiple alibis fell through, and there was proof of him buying the guns and ammunition (one of which was apparently rare and limited edition) that would have been used to k**l the family/matched the shells found. But the m****r weapons couldn’t be found at the scene or with Scolaro, and there were no fingerprints at the scene so they didn’t charge him. Also they found proof $60k+ was taken from Robinson’s businesses, which Scolaro had been left in charge of before the murders.
Bison Dele/Brian Williams. Former NBA player went sailing with his brother, his girlfriend, and a skipper. Only the brother came back. FBI & French authorities agree the brother likely m******d all 3 & dumped the bodies in the ocean, but with no physical evidence and only the brother's account to go on, the case remains "unsolved." The brother committed s*****e after being caught forging his d**d brother's signature to buy gold.
Jamie Harper and Heather Zimmermann. Two women who went missing 10 years apart. They were both seen in the company of the same man before their disappearances. Heather's husband was in the military but was AWOL during the time of her disappearance. Her husband and the other guy were good friends even though they claimed to not know each other.
Martha Moxley. Everyone pretty much knows Michael Skakel did it, he even bragged to school mates that he was going to get away with m****r because he was a Kennedy, yet the whole case has been going in and out of the courts for years. As of right now, the prosecutors have the option to retry the case, but who knows what’ll happen. As of now, Martha Moxley’s m****r is technically unsolved.
How old is the Reddit posting they’re pulling this information from? They convicted Michael Skakel (who also happens to be related to the Kennedys, which gives him the means of hiring decent counsel but as far as reputation with women, including the deaths of too many women involved with various Kennedy relatives, does not help him) of it in 2002, though there have been appeals and a lot of ups and downs—-on technicalities, not on new evidence that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did not do it—-all the way to 2020.
Lauren Spierer's disappearance. I think it's pretty clear she died either from o******e or from her earlier fall, she died in either the Beth/Rossman apartment or the Rosenbaum apartment, and some combination of those three got rid of her body. Sure it's *possible* she was abducted elsewhere, but the fact is she was incapacitated and with those three men, then never seen again.
Ok camera footage shows her leaving the apartment on her own walking away and towards her own apartment. neighbors and camera footage confirm that she was on her own. Rosenbaum's roommates and next door neighbor confirm he did not leave after she did and camera footage shows him leaving at 7am which is 4 hours after her. She was high AF and drunk enough she struggled to walk and combative with Rosenbaum who wanted her to stay until she sobered up but she refused and you can see him begging her to stay on camera and her pushing him and walking away. She's severely impaired walking alone at 3 am on a college campus. The two guys she was with before Rosenbaum have multiple witnesses and cameras showing her leaving them and going to Rosenbaum's apartment and they have cameras and witnesses showing they never left. This narrative that they are involved is being pushed by her angry parents who want to charge someone and they are the only 3 with contact with her. Despite ALL the evidence
Niqui Mccown.
Niqui disappeared in Richmond, Indiana on July 22, 2001.
She was soon to be married, and her fiancé was suspected at first but later cleared .
It turns out Niqui was having an affair with a man named Tommy L. Swint.
In 2010, Swint was indicted for m****r in the d***h of Tina Marie Ivery, a prostitute from Dayton who was beaten and strangled to d***h in 1991. Authorities planned to question him about other homicides as well.
We will probably never know however because he k****d himself before he was arrested.
I have a personal one. There were a series of issues with my son's car at two separate locations over the course of two weeks that didn't make much sense. My son was convinced somebody was messing with the car. He had evidence of a piece of cut line in the backseat that I intended to examine when he got home from work to see if it really was deliberately cut, but, that morning, his car went up in flames on his way to work and he narrowly escaped it.
I later came to find out that the previous owner's estranged family member, out of the blue, had asked a relative about vandalism to the car a couple of days after it had been damaged but before my son had driven it again. None of us can figure any way for this person to have known anything at all happened to the car. She didn't even know my son's friend had sold it to my son and she is the only person who has any affiliation with both locations where the vandalism occurred. I am convinced she was trying to cause harm to her family member who recently became estranged from her and nearly k****d my son in the process, but the evidence of the cut line burned up in the car fire. I don't think there's enough hard evidence to prove a criminal case, but I gave every bit of information I had to the investigator anyway. My real concern is that she'll try something again and cause real harm to my son or his friend.
Lewiston Idaho serial killer. 5 people d**d. One guy to blame. He lives on the east coast now. Cops know who he is but don't have enough to nail the sob.
Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace A.k.a. Notorious BIG. It’s pretty widely accepted that Orlando Anderson k****d Pac and a guy recently came out admitting some crucial info from being involved in it with him in the drive by vehicle. Biggie’s m****r has a lot more questions but heavily revolves around LAPD corruption, the Rampart Scandal and a hitman being hired to take him out. Detective Russell Poole was told to shut down his investigation into it and there has been documentaries exposing it all.
Woodrow_1856:
Surprised I had to go this far down to find mention of this case. It's pretty well established that Orlando Anderson and the South Side Crips shot Tupac (most likely due to 'encouragement' from Puffy), but the Biggie case is still a little weird. Not sure I completely believe Greg Kading's theory, but I believe the full truth could be some sort of combination of Poole and Kading's theories. Whoever it was, I don't think they could have acted alone. The question then becomes: out of whoever was aiding the shooter, were any of them off-duty/former LAPD?
Local to me, unknown to most...Kimberly Kersey , missing from Vancouver, Wa. While there were some very wild rumors at first as to who took her, who k****d her, and at some times, was she even really d**d?
I think most of us believe the kidnapper and killer was Russell Stenger, who has since passed, so we will never know for sure. I personally believe it was Russell, and do not believe any of the fanciful rumors that I heard as a young teen. I knew Kim, she was a beautiful, bright spot, and anyone from my era will tell you, this story haunts us all. Her vanishing affected us all, in our little neighborhood, and while we know who probably did it, there is always that niggling thought of what if....
Jaidyn Leskie.
A one year old boy was probably m******d by his mother's boyfriend and babysitter Greg Domaszewicz in Moe, Victoria, Australia in June 1997, Jaidyn's body wasn't found until January 1998. Domaszewicz was charged with m****r but found not guilty due to mishandling of forensic evidence by Victoria Police. And due to double jeopardy laws, Domaszewicz will probably never be charged for the crime. It's very similar to the Casey Anthony case.
One of the things that complicated this case was the fact that his house happened to be vandalised that night, by a group of kids who broke the windows of his house and threw a pig's head on his front lawn. They inadvertently became witnesses in the case.
I remember seeing this case in the news when I was a kid. There were some details about how the boyfriend hated the poor kid and called him a "mongoloid" and I think broke or at least injured his arm? Horrible.
Lizzy Borden comes to mind. She was the O.J. Simpson of her day, complete with a Dream Team of lawyers bought with the money she inherited from her d**d parents. Lizzy was acquited and no one was ever held responsible for the murders.
I think I read somewhere that she took the fall—-where it was a sure thing no jury would convict her—-for a relative, an uncle or nephew of her stepmother’s who owed her farther Andrew money that he was going to have him arrested for not paying. Uncle or nephew also wasn’t right in the head (why do you lend money to an unstable relative of your second wife? Who knows what she did to make him do it). For some reason, they were protecting him, I imagine it was a reputation thing. Back in the day, a family’s reputation could make or break them, and having a deranged and murderous relative would be a blot on the escutcheon, so they make a sham of it by having Lizzie, who was obviously not a m*rderer (see BP? THAT is how you properly censor words) stand trial and be acquitted. The uncle or nephew was quietly thrown into an asylum, if memory serves. Lizzie paid a social price by being accused, and built herself a house in a nice neighborhood where she was shunned by the locals but had plenty of out of town friends to keep her company (I don’t mean men necessarily, just a mix of people who didn’t judge her like the locals did). She remained unmarried to her d***h, and her estate was divided between certain relatives, friends, and the local animal rescue.
One of the few unsolved murders in Finland.
In the 60s four teens went camping and were attacked in their tent by Lake Bodom in southern Finland. 2 girls and 1 boy died, one boy survived but was badly injured. It's mostly always been the same 3 suspects but never any conviction.
Also where the metal band Children of Bodom gets their name from.
The Skelton Brothers from Morenci, MI. Their dad never brought them back the day after Thanksgiving in 2010. He won’t give up any information, only some incoherent ramblings about an “underground organization” having them and then later claims he gave them to the Amish, but they’re still missing with no leads. You can kind of assume the father k****d them.
I love near Morenci. The father and mother were divorced, and it was alleged that he was controlling and a*****e. I absolutely believe that he did it to get back at her for daring to end their marriage. Three darling little boys who have never been found. It's heartbreaking.
I was living in San Luis Obispo when the Kristin Smart disappearance occurred. A little while after she disappeared there were two other abductions and murders of college girls in the town, and for a while everyone was concerned that they were all related. Turned out only the last two were. My brother was a detective for San Luis Police Department at that time so I know a lot of things about her case… I don’t know anything *more* than anyone else, but I know that San Luis PD is super frustrated, and the general consensus with the public at least is that it was Paul Flores. Cadaver dogs hit on his shower if I recall.
In 2023 Paul Flores, an original suspect in the case, was convicted of Kristin Smart's m****r and sentenced to 23 years to life.
Bible John.
There are some strong parallels between what we know of Bible John and the serial killer Peter Tobin. Both are Scottish Serial Killer/Rapists with Religious Pretensions (Bible John constantly recited the Bible, Peter Tobin frequently hid in Churches while on the run.) Peter Tobin lived in Glasgow at the time of the murders, and left around the time they stopped. In addition his wives all stated that Peter Tobin would become enraged at menstruation, which seemed to be something Bible John was fixated on as well.
Unfortunately, at this point the only way we could really find out if Peter Tobin is Bible John, is if we could get Peter Tobin to admit it, and he won't admit it.
Gwendel Greenblatt was m******d either by her husband Matt, or by Richard Engel.
It's about a 99.9% certainty that one of them did it(Probably Matt IMO), but without being able to prove which one, nobody will ever pay for it.
The Cleveland Torso Murders is a good example.
Tigerwolf130:
The suspected murder in question was Dr. Francis E. Sweeney.
From Wikipedia: Cleveland Torso M******r An exposition dedicated to the Cleveland Torso M******r at the Cleveland Police Museum (from left to right: D***h masks of the victims Edward Andrassy, Florence Genevieve Polillo, "The Tattooed Man" and Jane Doe II). Other nameThe Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run Details Victims13–20+ Span of crimesSeptember 5, 1934 – August 16, 1938 CountryUnited States StatesOhio, possibly Pennsylvania and California Date apprehendedNever apprehended The Cleveland Torso M******r, also known as the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run, was an unidentified serial killer who operated in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, during the 1930s. The killings were characterized by the dismemberment of thirteen known victims and the disposal of their remains in the impoverished neighborhood of Kingsbury Run.[1] Most victims came from an area east of Kingsbury Run called "The Roaring Third" or "Hobo Jungle", known for its bars, gambling dens, brothels and vagrants. Despite an investigation of the murders, which at one time was led by famed lawman Eliot Ness, the m******r was never apprehended.[2] In 2024, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office teamed up with the DNA Doe Project to exhume some of the unidentified victims and use investigative genetic genealogy to determine their identities.[3]
Sherri Papini — I still think she was involved in this somehow.
BlackSeranna:
I one hundred percent believe she was involved. Everything was so darn sketch. And blaming it on Mexican people when the country was at an all time high hating on immigrants. My brother posted her story on his Facebook (we are half Mexican!) and it was so clearly put through the right-wing media. What I couldn’t figure out was whether her husband was involved. His body language didn’t look contrived. The fact that they wouldn’t let the FBI take the case - they hired some kind of weird self-made negotiator guy to handle it. The whole thing smells and like, it just bothered me to no end that no one else was like, “They released her on Thanksgiving! What a treat for the family! This is waaay too coincidental!” People who abduct a person and it becomes a national headline - most of the time they won’t release the abductee alive - it’s just something I notice. Tell me if I am wrong on any of this.
According to Google, on March 3, 2022, Papini was arrested on federal charges arising from her fabrication of the abduction; she had reportedly been staying with a former boyfriend, James Reyes, during the time she was supposedly missing and, according to James Reyes, allegedly asked that he harm her in order to give credence to her lies. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax.[3] She pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of making false statements. In September 2022, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $300,000 (including restitution to cover the costs of the police investigation).[
The bricca family murders. I wholeheartedly believe it was the dr/vet. Their dogs were sedated and he absolutely refused to cooperate, got a good lawyer, and eventually committed s*****e.
Ayla Reynolds.
This one is huge where I am from and I’m surprised I never see any crime podcasts talk about it. A house full of adults and no one knows what happened.
Outrageous_Claims:
State police held a press conference in May 2012 to discuss recent developments in the case, including the discovery of blood in her father's house and the number of people who were present at the time of her disappearance. The blood was confirmed to be more than a cupful of Ayla's blood, adjacent to DiPietro's bed.
more than a cupful?!
Later in the article it says that his whereabouts are unknown. And I’m hoping that is the only reason this dude hasn’t been charged proper. Find this [jerk].
Asha Degree..I think her parents had something to do with her disappearance and nothing will change my mind about that(except solving the case).
I think they are close to solving it and it has nothing to do with her family… ‘In April 2026, it was reported that five members of the same family "have all been named as suspects" in Degree's disappearance. An FBI spokesperson wrote that the "Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the SBI continue to tirelessly investigate this case" but that law enforcement could not provide additional information about DNA testing, evidence or ongoing investigative activity.’
This one guy, lives down the street from where I live. He was arrested for the attempted m****r and a*****t of a 9 year old (?) child, attacking her and leaving her for d**d in a quarry. The injuries were so severe that the judge gave him life without parole, but the police released him because they thought the sentence was too harsh. A couple years later, a Russian lady goes missing on her vacation over here, 2004 I think? They couldn’t find a body, but they went into where she was staying, and found blood everywhere. This guy was the prime and only suspect, but they didn’t find a body and couldn’t arrest him. And so, he’s living down the street from me, got off scot free.
He wrote a book about it! It's insane, and his supporters were so blindly loyal that it was like they were actually brainwashed.
Load More Replies...I want to know where Azaria Chamberlain's body is. We know what happened (taken from the tent by a dingo), but they never found the body. The dingoes probably ate her and scattered the bones. I'm hoping someday they find a skull or something that they can trace back via DNA (she has two brothers, a sister and a half-sister). Some s!ckos still insist on trying to blame the mom, even though it's been shown she didn't have enough time to do anything to the baby (and people heard the baby crying in the tent just before a dingo came out). Poor Lindy (the mom) has resting b!tch face but that doesn't mean she did anything to her baby.
I watch/listen to a lot of true crime and 999 times out of 1000 it's the boyfriend/husband/father. In fact I eased off on the true crime stuff because it was getting too predictable. The most surprising case I came across went like this: girl was dating a sketchy dude and they were having relationship issues. Then she goes out on the town one night and disappears. After her body was found the police brought in the sketchy boyfriend for questioning. He refused to let them go through his phone and was acting suspicious as hell. When he finally did hand it over, stuff had obviously been deleted. Plot twist: HE DIDN'T DO IT. It was a random stranger who did it. Boyfriend was acting suspicious because... he was in the middle of arranging a major d.rug deal. Definitely did not see that coming.
