A lot of people are concerned about this issue. There will come a tipping point where the trash in low Earth orbit starts to crash into itself and start shooting off in all directions. These collisions will result in the space junk breaking into smaller pieces, and moving off to damage yet more things. Once this chain reaction starts it will be impossible to stop it and it has the potential to destroy any satellite or space station in it's path. It would also make any further launches practically impossible.

I was literally just thinking about that y'day. We're running out of places to put it here on Earth & they've discussed shooting it out into space and how that makes us that one trashy house in the neighborhood of our galaxy, the one with tires and trash everywhere and dead cars all over the property.

Space debris has always been a concern. The 2009 collision of two satellites caused huge problems, creating thousands of pieces of debris large enough to track and many more thousands not able to be tracked. Due to the vulnerability of extremely expensive satellites launched at enormous cost vulnerable, space policies have created a broad concept called space situational awareness (SSA) and is handled by the Department of Defense. There are significant efforts to include more of the commercial side. There's no straight-forward solution. If you want to go more in depth, a good start would be a search on 'space situational awareness'.

All the time. I assume it must be like a dump up there.. we've ruined our oceans and that's something that we, as civilians, can just look at and see, so imagine what it's like up there where we can't see.

Musk has blanketed the earth with thousands of Starlink satellites and space junk to the point it blocks astronomers from viewing. Truly disturbing.

Unfortunately, yes from time to time. Leaving all kinds of c**p on the moon, the rovers on other planets that "unalive" and just sit there, etc. It's bad enough that we're destroying our own planet, but now we've started expanding the nastiness.

Yep, it's not enough that we are destroying our home but, we have to c**p up space too. And didn't Musk send his car to outer space? If there is another planet that can sustain human life, we do not deserve it. We will just do the same to that planet.

One of my favorites is the folks who worry about us 'ruining the environment on the Moon'. It's *ROCK* and *VACUUM*. There *is No* 'environment'.
