Ever hear someone proudly sound off about something with zero evidence and the confidence of an influencer with a ring light? (You’re online, so of course you have.) Sometimes it’s fairly innocent, and you can give a nervous giggle, nod, and move on, preferably swiftly. Other times, you realize there are simply no words that could ever get through to them. And sometimes it feels like the whole world is running on that same confidence.
Thankfully, r/DelusionsOfAdequacy isn’t having any of it. The sub’s stance is refreshingly blunt: “if you celebrate ignorance… we hate you!” What you’ll find instead is a mix of “feigned intelligentsia,” geek things and sharp, funny observations about the world we live in. Some are simply hilarious takes on just how bizarre society can be, while others are a little more biting, even decidedly dystopian. Here are some of the best.
