Amazing Typewriter Art By Keira Rathbone

Meet Keira Rathbone, an artist who is most famously known for her amazing typewriter art.

The creative London artist makes detailed drawings on a typewriter she bought from a Poole charity shop. Her drawing technique involves typing out hundreds of letters, numbers, and symbols in place of brush strokes and pixels, which results in these beautiful enigmatic images. It’s a little like ASCII art made by computers but instead, she creates her work all by hand. On average, she spends 90 hours on each typewriter-produced drawing.

However, it doesn’t mean she can’t draw with a regular pencil – her vintage typewriter is just one of Keira’s art mediums. She also displays her work process as a performance artist, starting from a pencil drawing and slowly filling in the page with typewriter ink.
