Millions Of People Are Loving This TikTok Diary Of A Trans Comedian Sharing Her Discoveries Of Her New Life Each Day
We spend a lot of time trying to figure out who we are and what our path in life is. For some it’s a bit easier than others, as the guidebook for life’s expectations is written by the society we live in. Be born, be given appropriate toys to play with, learn, have hobbies, get a job, make a family and repeat the cycle with future generations until you die.
But what happens when the person you feel like isn’t the person that is described in the book? When you’re the only one who sees who you really are? Well, you brave it and rewrite it for you and generations to come. You wouldn’t use an outdated Ford manual to fix your Ferrari, would you?
Today we have a very inspiring story about one such person, bringing a lot of joy to her 2M followers on TikTok. I would like you all to meet Dylan Mulvaney, so let’s get into it!
Meet Dylan Mulvaney, a trans actress and comedian, inspiring and entertaining her 2M followers on TikTok

Dylan is an actress, comedian, and TikTok star who’s been searching for her true self for over 25 years. Even at 4 years old, she recalled to Good Morning America (GMA) running to her mother and saying: “Mom, I’m a girl trapped in a boy’s body. Help!”
Let me just say, if my child ever did that, I’d be so confused as to what to do. Do you go with it and start transitioning your child at a young age or do you say ‘that’s nice, sweetie’ and let them figure it out, whilst trying to be supportive in the process? Leave your thoughts on this in the comments but back to the story.
She came out as a woman in March and has been documenting each day of her new life and transition

For those who are unaware of the terms, let’s run through them really briefly. According to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the word ‘transgender’ or ‘trans’ is a term for people whose gender identity is different from the sex assigned at birth.
People who would fit under this definition have existed in every culture throughout recorded history and have shown that the trans community is incredibly diverse. Some take hormones or have surgery as part of their transition, while others may change their pronouns or appearance otherwise.
The Trans Awareness Project notes that the key difference between trans communities and gay, lesbian, and bisexual communities is that trans communities are primarily organized around gender identity and presentation, whilst the latter are primarily organized around sexual identity and/or orientation.
However, many of our perceptions around sexual orientation are also strongly connected with our conception of gender, which sometimes make it incredibly difficult to pinpoint who you are at your core.
Dylan’s self-discovery began at an early age and her family has been incredibly supportive

Dylan’s self-discovery was not an easy process. She first came out as gay, then queer, then non-binary, and, finally, trans. Thankfully, her parents and grandparents were very supportive of their child. She described this picture on her Instagram, dressed as Dorothy and hugged by her grandma, as one full of meaning: “That was back when I knew very much that I wanted to be a girl or some version of feminine, and wasn’t clouded with societal judgment of what that meant.”
Sadly, her grandma has since passed away, Dylan sharing a beautiful memory to remember her by: “When I was over about a year ago, she asked if I had a girlfriend. I froze and she quickly picked up and went, ‘or do you have a boyfriend?’ And I said not yet. She said ‘you will.’ And gave me the biggest smile.” The need for support cannot be underestimated and we’re sure family have helped Dylan become the independent, brave and beautiful girl that she is.
Although Dylan seems to be thriving now, it’s been a long journey of searching for her identity, going from gay to non-binary

Dylan had been documenting her journey, but coming out as trans was a big step forward
“Ultimately, I had to do that to honor who I truly am. And now I’ve never been happier. And it feels so good to know that, like, all of the darkness throughout my life, all of the experiences that I’ve gone through… the hard conversations have all been worth it,” Dylan said.
She’d been documenting her experiences and exploration of her identity with videos captioned ‘It’s a they, euphoria of the day’, however, coming out as trans seemed to be a whole new, massive step forwards.
“God doesn’t make mistakes”, she recalled her mom saying, instinctively knowing ever since she was 4 that she was meant to be a girl
She came to Instagram and TikTok to introduce herself as Dylan, the girl, explaining that “while I was non-binary, I would often say that I felt less and less like a boy every day. Now I realize it really was every day I was feeling more and more like a girl and I didn’t know that. I was so scared and a little bit ashamed to even consider myself back on the binary as a trans woman.”
She even recalled the run up to her mother, expressing how she thought God made a mistake, but her mom reassured her that “God doesn’t make mistakes.”
After more than twenty years, she understood her mom’s words, saying: “I’m not a mistake, I’m here for a reason and now it feels like I get to honor that inner child within me that knew it so long ago. I finally get to be that person and I really am so excited for you to meet girl Dylan and she’s excited to meet you too!”
And thus, she started the infamous series “Day _ of being a girl”, sharing all her learnings and changes as she would a journal
“I was so scared of coming out, because I didn’t know what that process was going to look like,” Dylan told GMA, explaining that she saw incredible trans women who had already completed their transitions, leaving Dylan without much knowledge on how to get there herself. Understanding that more information was to be put out into the world, she decided to take the first step in that direction.
She decided to start a series, titled “Day __ of girlhood”, where she’d document her experiences and transition, as one would in a diary. Even though the first episode got a tiny bit of backlash, causing the creator to post an apology video afterwards, many supported Dylan and encouraged her to keep going.
From hormone replacement therapy to shopping with her besties, the series has caught the attention of millions
From talking about estrogen in hormone replacement therapy (HRT), to buying dresses with her best friends, the hilarious and honest videos show it all! Unsurprisingly, that the series quickly took off, drawing in her first million followers on TikTok three weeks after she began the series. People have shown their love and support for the excitable and sweet person, each new video garnering over a million views.
Dylan told GMA: “I didn’t know I was this worthy of love or this worthy of attention, and there’s something really affirming in the fact that, like, I now know that I am a good person. I have good to put out in the world and I am grateful for every single human being that’s along with me.”
A big moment came when Dylan received her gender-neutral driver’s license, an important step to a more inclusive society
Some milestones are more important than others, potentially impacting the future for other trans and non-binary people. In one TikTok, Dylan was super emotional, opening up a letter with her new driving license, the ‘Sex’ having an ‘X’, instead of the usual ‘M’ or ‘F’.
She said: “I’m opening it up for the first time and realizing how privileged I am to live in a state that will let me do this and to be one of the first people to have it.” She felt it was a sign of things moving in the right direction, not only for her but for many others walking in her shoes.
She was also praised for deciding to carry tampons for every woman that might need them
Other stories are incredibly wholesome and funny, especially one regarding tampons. Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!
Even Tampax took notice to it, deciding to work with her
But outside the jokes and humor is a real person, who’s trying day by day to live the life of their authentic self, which comes with difficulties and struggles.
However, Dylan is set on encouraging others in their transition and gender exploration, saying “First of all, I’m proud of you. Second of all, take your time. This is not a race. It is probably one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever have to make in your life and one of the craziest journeys that you’ll go on. Start with people that you know, 100%, will support you and love you.”
Dylan is grateful for the warm welcome she’s received and for being able to inspire other trans people to come out
Dylan has received messages from people who, inspired by her journey, decided to come out to their families as trans. Parents of trans children have told her that they watch her videos with their children, which has meant a lot to the creator.
But as much as Dylan is giving to the trans community, she’s receiving much more, stating that “the support from cis women has been insane and magical, because it feels like I really am part of something now and they’ve like accepted me into womanhood.”
The vulnerability, strength and determination it takes to “come out on the other side as this new person that is undeniably authentic,” said Dylan, believing that “vulnerability is power. And femininity is power.” However, there is still much to be done when it comes to the acceptance and equality of trans people.
The stigma and inequality following the trans community is still incredibly prominent, but there are ways we can all contribute to its betterment
The stigma that follows the notion is an important one to break apart, considering the facts told by HRC, that the legal system often does not protect them from discrimination, with more state legislatures debating and passing legislation specifically designed to prohibit trans people from accessing public bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity, or creating exemptions based on religious beliefs that would allow discrimination against LGBTQ people. Rejection, harassment and serious acts of violence against members of the trans community are also a growing issue.
GLAAD recommends to all that want to make a difference, whether part of the trans community, LGBTQ+ community or an ally, to stay considerate, listen to the experiences shared, and try to understand and empathize, rather than assume or become too inquisitive into private matters. And try your best to understand that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to transition, and that it is different for every person. can you not :/
Why? What user Trash Panda is saying is flat out hurtful and hateful against the trans community. You are free to have your own opinions, but I draw the line at hate speech. Trash Panda is trash for their comment. I don't defend transphobic and homophobic people.
I'm not sure she understood that TrashPanda is a person. Maybe she thought this person was calling Bored Panda, TrashPanda for the article? Idk. I was super confused til I scrolled way down and found the jerk's comments. Idk why anyone cares so much what other people are doing with their bodies? I don't have the time or inclination to run blood tests on people to check their birth gender. Cuz Idc. You are whatever you say you are. :)

Can YOU not defend a transphobe 😳
The only thing wrong here is "day __ of girlhood", because she's a woman through-and-through and has always been one in her heart. She's just now getting to be one physically! I love her and her positivity!
you can only be a woman physically if you have two x chromosomes. if you've got yx, you're a guy, and this dude clearly has yx chromosomes and therefore a male body.
I've heard people say - God doesn't make mistakes and I believe that is true. It took me a while to really understand what that means though. What if she wasn't born in the wrong body but was born transgendered? Meaning her journey has been exactly what is was supposed to be. I have some medical issues that come with chronic pain. I don't think God made a mistake when he made me. This is just my journey. Sometimes it sucks. Most of the time is sucks - both mentally and physically. But I've also learned so much about myself, my strength, and how it affects my life. It has also let me help others going through similar things. So transgender people aren't fixing a mistake, they are just on their journey, as God intended.
Amen to that.

So God didn't make a mistake letting children die of Leukemia?,🙄
Hi Clara. As awful as something like childhood leukemia is, or innocent victims being killed by masa shootings, or the many, many people we lost to Covid, no, I don't think those are God's mistakes. People make mistakes and God allows that. And other times, it's no one's mistake. It is just the journey we were given. But God also allows for you to believe that it's His mistake. You can be angry with Him, blame Him, whatever you need to do because that is your journey and it doesn't change His love for you or the strength He gives you when you can't stand on your own.
I know personally 2 people who decided to go the same journey. Anybody who says that it is to get attention is absolutely wrong. These people lived their whole life in a lie, and it's only after the transition they can be themselves. They deserve all the support they can get! I am happy that her mother is fully behind her "new" daughter.
"his transition" who wrote this article???
People have. There are no such errors present in the article or they have been fixed. Thank you for your feedback!
Absolutely disgusting. It obvious he's a man lmao. He'll never be us
thank you! finally someone says something, I wholeheartedly agree
You are supposed to automatically praise this. If you say anything else, it will be labelled "transphobic"
Found the closeted transphobe. God, you losers don't even make it fun anymore.
Working with Tampax even though I don't have a pussy, is offensive on a level Boredpanda, Tampax, and this man can never understand. But. Yes. "Transphobia".
Using the terms she, her, and girl will not make it a reality. No matter how much you try.
You go girl, gender is social construct, a big role play for those that don't know how to be true to themselves. If that's feminine, masculine, neither or both then so be it. A persons health and happiness is more important than what's in between their legs (which is no one's business). I grew up in a house where you could be anything you wanted to be. My parents were born in the 30's, my siblings were 60/70's kids I was 70/80's. Growing up all I wanted was to be a boy, I was going to join the army and drive a tank. These days it's non-binary, back then was androgynous. I'm sexually straight, married and have a child. I still don't identify as female, nothing so called "feminine" about me.
if gender is a social construct, then what makes you male or female? if it's whether you feel feminine or masculine, that's blatant misogyny; it's essentially saying that if you have the body of a girl but you don't like dresses, then you're "a boy born in the wrong body". it's not an internal feeling, I don't "mentally know if I'm a girl or a boy", there is no voice in my head telling me I'm male or female. and if you say it's based on feelings, what feelings do you mean exactly? none of this makes any sense, if it does to you, feel free to explain it to me by replying, I'm happy for a discussion on the topic.
Omg my baby girl and her would so love to shop together. Exact same style.
This is insulting. This dude is putting on dresses and essentially roleplaying as a woman. my sex - or "gender" as most people call it now - is not an act to play, being female isn't a mask you can put on. I am disgusted at this guy and I can't believe someone would even do this. and as well as this - he's so laughably masculine, anyone who thinks he's a woman is either blind and deaf, or they're deluding themselves.
Tampax are going to work with me. Even though I don't have a pussy. Said no woman ever. Which, is why this misogynist said it. P.s. playing dress up is not "being" a woman.
I'm lovin' those heart-shaped sunglasses though.
my son is transgender and i support him 100%
He's lucky to have you! My mom wont let me socially transition cause it's "too dangerous" and "I never showed the signs when I was little" so it's nice to see accepting parents!
https://youtu.be/nf0oXY4nDxE
I have not had anyone ask me for a tampon since high school. Is it that common? Maybe I don’t go out enough….
I get it at work all the time. I work in the film industry and we do a lot of location work, so that could be it, lol! I've had a hysterectomy but she's just inspired me to keep some on hand just in case!!
I'm jealous of how brave she is!

Genetically a MAN. Pretending to be a woman.
Maria, go take your transphobia and shove it. If you're going to be an obnoxious troll, why don't you go play on Reddit instead where incels who lack a filter can all be terrible.
quit insulting people and provide an actual argument if you want to discuss this. calling people names isn't gonna prove your point. I wholeheartedly agree with you in terms of opinions, but taunting those you disagree with is a blatantly disgusting way to go about talking about subjects you're passionate about.
Please don't send them to Reddit, that site is toxic enough without more transphobes polluting it...
Genetically male, actually a woman. Fixed it for you.
Maria is a waste of public oxygen pretending to be a human.

Man gets trans surgery, "discovers" what its like to be female. Hunny unless you have a uterus and fallopian tubes & get nasty bloating & period with nasty cramps- you cannot understand what it is to be a genetic female. Damn attention whores.
A woman is more than a uterus and fallopian tubes. Would you say a woman who's had a hysterectomy is not a "real" woman? Your definition of a woman is very narrow, indeed.
Guess I'm no longer a woman then, TrashPanda, as I have had all of those items removed. What an idiot you are.
that is the shittiest , most disingenuous straw man that TRAs trot out over and over again, and no GC with an IQ > 100 has EVER said that without joking!
Terf alert terf alert (@nunya). TRAs is a terf word.
Transphobes don't think that far. They sweep any and all evidence that does not fit their simpleminded world view under the rug. Any exception to what they believe to be true is shrugged off as "one in a million" or "one in a billion" without any actual research or respect involved. I did an entire college course set on this kind of behavior, it's caused by a fascinating defect in human reasoning where we assemble beliefs based on incomplete evidence and then uphold those beliefs as true when any evidence comes up to show that it is not.
If people like that weren't so poisonous, I'd feel sorry for them.
(@TrashPandaSociety) Oh golly! I’ve experienced all of those and I AM a man :] (a trans one :D 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️) Let’s form a trans panda society fr.
With all due respect, shut up
Are you even a "genetic female"? If you are, you should know that all women come in all shapes and sizes and all come with their own experiences. I get bad periods, but my best friend never has. She never cramps, never bloats, and doesn't even get PMS. She has 3 kids. I get bad periods and I cannot have children. So is she a female or am I a female, according to your standards? Trans women are women too, with their own experiences and their own abilities. It costs nothing to be kind
Hunny you don't get to decide who is a woman and who is not.

You're right, because God did. If God made him a man, he's still a man, even though he trashed his livelihood with this ridiculous and nasty sht.
Oh bless your shriveled troll heart, Nate. Congratulations, no woman is every going to want to get within an inch of you. You want some needed attention, why don't you go be an a**e on Reddit with all your angry neckbeard incels? You can all be trash together and foam at the mouth about Rick and Morty. You idiots love to bring God in to the conversation defend yourselves, but probably never even cracked open a bible in your life. You're further from God than the crap on the bottom of my shoe.
Doesn't God say "to love one another"? (john 13:34 for good measure). what the fück happened to you? Her story doesn't affect you, you clearly only want attention or to spread hate as there are very few who will side with you here. Shut up you transphobic cabbage, the only ridiculous and nasty shít around here is you.
Do you want some attention? Got to attack someone else in order to feel important? C’mon now, let’s get you a quiet place to lie down. You’ve clearly had a rough time.
TrashPanda I've had all that s**t. I support all women. If you think it's easy being Trans, you need to give your head a wobble.

Thank you! Only because they modified their body to appear as the opposite sex, they're still the same as they were beforehand. People trying to play God. God doesn't approve of this filth
Maybe God isn’t real and people who are hurting no one and affecting your life in no way shape or form should be left alone?
Maybe you should learn acceptance like your pope did. He is much closer to God being the actual pope, the most holy person, and he has more acceptance than you. You are closed-minded, hateful, hurt religion and God is disappointed in you
I think, NetworkNate, you need to re-define the word "filth". Perhaps start by looking in a mirror.
Which god? Does god speak to you bc they spoke to me and told me you're an agent of satan himself. Satan sent you here to cause pain and divide people. It's sacrilegious that you're even using their name. Do you feel the burning? Theyre coming for you Natalie.

They literally are being transphobic.. ah yes I am a woman pretending to be a man because I wasn’t born with a dîck. Genetics can kiss my äss I’m a man with títties and a uterus 🏳️⚧️😎
Abso-freakin-lutley
God stole my balls so now I suffer
Valentino, that is the most relatable thing ive ever heard lol.
