Despite playing a major role in shaping the towns and cities that we live in, we rarely give architects the credit they deserve.
Although most will go their entire careers without getting much in the way of recognition, every now and there an architect comes along who has such a unique style that they just stand out from the others.
But who are the world’s most popular architects?
Using a seed list of more than 100 notable architects, money.co.uk found the most Googled architect in more than 130 different countries around the world to reveal those whose designs we just can’t get enough of.
The results have been visualised in the 7 maps below that break down their findings on a global and a continental level, but topping the leaderboard was Zaha Hadid who was the most searched architect in 84 different countries.
Also known as the ‘queen of the curve’, Zaha Hadid’s futuristic designs made her one of the best-known names in modern architecture and helped her to win numerous awards over the course of her career – which includes being the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, as well as being the first woman to be individually awarded the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
In second place was Le Corbusier, also known as Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, who came out top in 15 countries, followed by Frank Loyd Wright in third place who was the most Googled architect in 11 different countries.
