This Is No Animation! It’s A Machine.

We’ve made this desolate desert scape to promote the third edition of the Rotterdam based, blues, roots and psychedelic music festival “Once upon a time in the West”. I took us about 130 hours to create this awesome festival promo. The gradually revolving landscape and typography are animated using a specially crafted machine. Instead of traditional animation techniques we’ve used motors and hydraulics to produce a poetic movement that captures the open and relaxt, wild West vibe of the event. The making-of reveals the machine and the proces of creation.
