Ivory Grand Piano Keys Wall Decor Musical Wave made from an antique 19th century grand piano

The “Musical Wave” installation is made of the keys of an antique 19th century GRAND piano. The keys are made of ivory. The close- up photo shows the state of these keys. The keys show a lot of wear, which indicates their venerable age. Now the only chance for them to find a new life is this installation. The key base is made of pine wood. LED lighting is also made from an old piano. The wood base of the hammer mechanism is used for this illumination. The light can be used for a 110 – 230 volt mains supply. Light reflects off the surface of the antique wood and illuminates the room with warm tones. The room becomes cozy and warm.

This installation was made in a single copy. These keys carry musical energy and part of our long history. Therefore, when purchasing this installation, you will keep this history. I believe that over time, these keys will only become more expensive. After all, now ivory is no longer used to make piano keys.

I received these parts of an old piano from a Petersburger. She kept it as a family heirloom, but didn’t know what to do with it. This piano was kept in the family for a long time and was a part of its history. During the Second World War, Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) was surrounded by fascist troops. This blockade lasted 900 days and was a truly terrible time. The winters were harsh and the people in the city kept their homes warm as best they could. People burned furniture, books, parquet. This piano also had to be almost completely burned to escape the cold. After the war, the remnants of the piano were kept in the pantry for many years. Then it fell into my hands.

For a long time I did not dare to do something about it out of respect for the memory of those events. Then I decided to make this installation in memory of this terrible time.
