Photographer Mom Turns Her 9-Year-Old Adopted Daughter Into Iconic Characters
205Kviews
Meet Alice Lewis, an aspiring nine-year-old actress and model. She enjoys cosplaying and having her pictures taken by her photographer mother, Kelly Lewis.
Alice’s beautiful story started when, at the age of 7, she was adopted by the photographer’s family. At the time of her adoption, she decided that she wanted to change her name to Alice – after Lewis Carroll’s beloved character.
With her incredible personality and imagination, Alice has already shown a natural modelling talent in front of the camera.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Readers concerned about the choice of wording in this post’s title are invited to read this Tumblr post by Alice’s mother, Kelly.

Why do people always have to point out when a child is adopted? Regardless of whether she was adopted, she is the woman's DAUGHTER.
Agree. That's exactly what I thought. It has nothing to do with the story!
Im sorry i agree with ErinNault. and i quote "Alice loves sharing her story so that others might get inspired to adopt a child"... idiots.
maybe y'all should learn to read, and notice what the writer has to say in the opening paragraphs.. idiots.
Now, if it's right or wrong to use an adoption as a mechanic to produce fame, that is the question.
I'm thinking people with grammar issues shouldn't be casting stones over the reading comprehension of others.
Whoa. ErinNault-no need to name call-

Wrong. The fact that she IS adopted MAKE THE WHOLE STORY. If she wasn't, that was just a mum taking pictures of her doughter.
As an adoptive parent, I thought that, too. But if you read the intro, her adoption is somewhat relevant. That's when she changed her name.
If you read the mothers response which is linked at the bottom of the story, it will clear it up. It makes a lot of sense after reading it.
I believe it's because she was adopted at 7 years old. Which is pretty special in itself. Adopting older children is rare, sadly.
I agree. Knowing that she is adopted adds another level to my enjoyment of the story.
Completly agree!!
FfamranBunansa, Wrong again, since I didn't read the intro and just looked at the pictures I didn't know about adoption and still loved pics
my thought exactly when i saw the title...
Thank you!!! As someone who is adopted I can say my family never introduces me as their adopted...
Thought about that too.. they should take it away.
Because if she's adopted everyone will think about it only. And they'll think just like 'oh what a nice woman i will post it on facebook"
just bussines, it's always like this
I do portraits, with a canon 5d & 85mm 1.2 over 4k, I travel to LA to get it in my Jeep, 1hr drive,on my way I ate fries. Too much info? : /
Agreed! I think if this is how they want to do it, then they need to label when a child is born thru in vitro or thru a surrogate too!
Thats was the first ting that came to my mind. Why did they basically have to "label" her
I think perhaps the point of mentioning that Alice is adopted is so that people will understand that she is re-inventing herself.
Yes.
why does it have to be so emphasised that she's adopted!!? why can't the title just say Photographer mom turns her 9-year-old daughter...?
Because that's when she changed her name to Alice.

Because the child is being exploited, used as a vehicle to promote the mother's photography. The eyes of that child reveal a hole.
