In the tragedy that was 9/11 there is a story that is often missed, or not told. That is the story of the massive boat lift that took place in the nine hours after the planes hit the WTC. During that time almost 200 boats moved 500,000 people from lower Manhattan by boat. It is the largest Maritime evacuation in history. The coast guard called for all vessels, and hundreds showed up, mainly just simple boat owners. That effort is captured here in this short 1 min video.
