Someone In Berlin Came Up With A Creative Way To Fight Swastikas That Started Appearing On The Streets
Like the protestors in the 60’s putting flowers in the barrels of guns, some people know that the best way to fight against hate is with love, beauty and creativity.
Ibo Omari is one of those people. Through his NGO Die kulturellen Erben (The Cultural Heritage) he started Paintback, a campaign to turn hateful symbols and slogans on the streets into something fun and artistic.
Based in Berlin, Germany, the Paintback concept has so far covered up several swastikas around the streets of the city, as far-right groups in Germany begin to show signs of increased activity. Using simple designs and templates, the graffiti artists involved in Paintback hope to inspire others to respond to ugly hate messages in their cities, and make something beautiful out of them. Via a short video shared on social media, which went viral in Germany, the campaign has quickly spread to other cities in the country and beyond with others posting their own swastika alterations under the hashtag #Paintback.

Reminds me of this art book .. I wonder if burne Hogarth also painted over a swastika. 516xVoz5sd...861ade.jpg
As an Indian this makes me sad... wanna elaborate on my feelings but guess they are pretty obvious..
For what it's worth, I'm sorry shit stains from Europe appropriated a symbol from your religion and turned it in to racist filth.
@Richard you have nothing to feel sorry for brother..its just that among all the be positve internet babble.. people still choose to associate a symbol with the negative use of it .. its still even referred to as swastik (sanskrit name for it)..... and my feelings are religious in the least, because the symbol itself doesn't say much about the religion... its associated with Hinduism only because Hindus came up with it ... .. person of any religion can draw the symbol and it will mean less about Hinduism and more about the virtues it stands for ..
I love this and could not agree more.

Indians appropriated it from earlier source and changed it into religious "filth". Its not about either race or religion, and if you truly understood the symbol this would be obvious
Well brother now you know how muslims feel when some terrorists use their Quran's verse and twist and turn it to spread hate and violence. Hope you will understand the importance of not judging the religion because of few people and will not believe stuff without searching it from the real source im the future. Spread the awareness.. We all have feelings. We all have been misunderstood. I understand what you go through.
I have known many Muslims going back to the 1980’s. None of them were anything but good, kind decent people. It’s a shame your faith drug thru the dirt by lunatics.
Interestingly the nazi swastika is flipped in the opposite direction to the Hindu one, which symbolizes wealth, health and prosperity.
And to the extent such symbolism could be relatively accurate, no one remembers WHY. Isnt THAT curious!
Yes. It makes me greatly sad too..those idiots don`t even know how nazi swastika look! They`re ignorant stupid.. Omg..Jai Sree RadheKrishna
I know, I hate how the Nazis took a religious symbol and turned it into one of hate.
Sorry, wasn't supposed to comment here.
Sorry, only meant for it to reply to the first comment.
I can just imagine the artist walking down the street and seeing a swastika and going, alright I see how it is. *angrily putting down backpack and taking out spray paint cans and face mask* Can't even take a walk without this bullshit...
Such an inspiration
