23-Year-Old Student Who Killed 100 ISIS Militants Now Has A $1 Million Bounty On Her Head
Joanna Palani is a 23-year-old politics student from Denmark. She also happens to have a $1 million bounty on her head. Why? Because believe it or not, Joanna is thought to have killed over 100 ISIS militants while fighting alongside the Kurdish Peshmerga in Iraq and Syria.
Joanna, who is of Iranian-Kurdish ancestry, was born in a refugee camp in Ramadi, Iraq, following the first Gulf War. She first fired a gun at the age of nine, and she was still a teenager when, in 2014, she dropped out of college and left Copenhagen for Syria. She wrote on Facebook that she was inspired “to fight for women’s rights, for democracy – for the European values I learned as a Danish girl.” She joined the ongoing uprising against the Syrian government in the wake of the Arab Spring, first fighting against the Assad regime and then against ISIS. She fought them in Kobane, a Syrian town on the border with Turkey, while fighting with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), and she also helped to liberate Yazidi girls who were imprisoned as sex slaves while fighting alongside Peshmerga forces in Iraq.
Her actions came to the attention of the Danish authorities, who banned her from further travel to the region when she returned from fighting in September 2015. She was then locked up in Vestre Fængsel, Demark’s largest prison, when it was discovered that she’d flouted her ban in order to travel to Qatar. She spent 3 weeks behind bars before being released, and she’s since had her passport confiscated. She believes she’s seen as a terrorist in her own country, and she lives in hiding and changes her location constantly from fear of reprisal. “I am sorry for breaking the law but I had no choice in my mind at the time,” she said. “Those I risked my life for, are now taking away my freedom. I did not expect to lose almost everything for fighting for our freedom and our safety.”

So publish her face everywhere, so everyone can see her. If there is a bounty on my head I would not want to be recognizable to the everyone who wants $1million just for pointing me out in a crowd.

I agree every cause needs a face, but c'mon... If at least 50% of this is true, kudos to her, but I agree w/ several comments here - one of the most violent political and military group has a big-a** bounty on your head and you go around posting pictures of yourself to motivate people on social media?

They ("the bad guys") probably already know what she looks like. Now the rest of the world (aka "the good guys") know it too, we could keep an eye out for her safety

This is propaganda. It is impossible to verify details, and it is written one-sided. Who does remember reports of people returning from war and being tried: many did not really fully understand whom they had fought for, and for what. Since when did we start to believe that it is right to take justice into one's own hands? Since when would it be OK that citizens arm themselves, travel to crisis areas, and fight? And even if you assume this to be justified because states failed in their actions against terrorist, since when is it right to violate court orders? Do not get me wrong: probably Europe is failing. The situation in Syria is unbearable, particularly if political agendas are more important than helping suffering people. But if you learn in Europe that you should be proud if you have killed 100 people, that you should bend the law, to glorifying fighting, I am ashamed. I do not have answers here. But that a government stops civilians to engage in wars is justified.

I do agree about her fight (ie. the reasons why she fights), I do not agree with idealizing someone who has kill 100 people, whatever the reasons. Downvote me, call an idealist or anything...there is line beyond which your actions makes you not better than what you are fighting

Okay people, I did a quick Google check... "1 million dollar bounty on Danish girl". TheSun.co.uk was one that published the story and a bunch of "indianews", Iraqinews", "muslimpress" articles. Didn't see anything from CNN or Aljezzera on the first page. If she is truly a fighter, GO GET THEM, GIRL!! If not, bravo for wasting my time on you.
