After Accidentally Showing Up For A Microsoft Job Interview A Month Early, This Student Shares Her Emails
Job interviews are rough – definitely a stressful event for all of us, especially if you’re applying for your dream job. Unfortunately, not everything in life goes as smoothly as we’d like to and we all do something embarrassing and cringe-worthy from time to time. This 21-year-old student recently shook up Twitter with her interview hilarious mix-up. The applicant was invited to do a job interview for Microsoft on February 18th. But Laura was so eager to get the job – she decided to show up for it a little bit earlier. A whole month, actually.
Laura, a 21-year-old Scottish student was invited to do a job interview via Skype with Microsoft’s University Recruitment team

The team offers students a chance to work a full year for the company. The Skype interview was scheduled for 18th of February. As Laura mentioned to the media, she was very eager to get this job.
Laura was so excited that when the 18th of January came, she assumed it was… February

The student mentioned to the media that she’s a very organized person and had spent the morning of that day prepping herself for the interview. She even had mock interviews with her family, to feel even more prepared. The interview was scheduled for 11 a.m., so when the clock turned to 11:15, Laura went into panic mode.
She thought that something must be not be working properly, as she was still waiting anxiously for her 11 a.m. interview, so she sent out an email

The recruiter then kindly replied to her, reminding that the interview was to take place on the 18th of February

To which Laura replied: “It is the 18th of February”

A few minutes later, a reply from the team came reminding once again, the actual date

“What made it all worse was that my birthday is the 14th of February, so somehow I had managed to skip turning 22,” she said jokingly. Laura’s now worried whether she may have accidental sabotaged her potential job opportunity: “I thought Microsoft would think I am an idiot. I quite frankly wanted to disappear into thin air. Hopefully, Microsoft will see the humorous side to this whole mix-up,” she added.
Laura later posted her family’s reaction to the hilarious misunderstanding

Nevertheless, a lot of other people has their own embarrassing moments to share, which turned out to be not so bad

Share on FacebookI am an IT manager, i can hire and fire, she seems nice and all but my only gripe would be someone mixing up a whole month like this, where is your head?, in my area/workload, inputting the wrong date in a computer system could be a disaster.
Replies so far: 'would hire someone as excited as her", "poor girl", "I think this recommends her for the job"......... lol ....... no, Laura is a ditz. Stay away.
I keep seeing people saying the girl was stupid, hut do you guys realize she was stressed? Stress makes us do stupid things and clouds our minds. This girl was not stupid, it's just her nerves got the best of her. And who's wouldn't, having an interview wity such a big, important company like Microsoft! She's stressed and nervous, NOT STUPID!!
Sorry but stress is part of many jobs, stress doesn't equal stupidity, when i hire one of the main things i watch for in the probation period is how they handle stress, if they get frazzled, angry or simply can't handle it, it's a big no-no from me. Many jobs that require intelligence, skills and qualifications are synonymous with stressful jobs. If you get stressed enough to be out by a month at the interview stage that is a bad sign, Microsoft are known to be fair but hard employers.

Yeah, have been going through some seriously difficult times in the last couple of years and was desperately trying to get work as a full time teacher. I'd been teaching for nearly 20 years and have 2 teaching licenses. But my mom got sick and passed away. Then I had a non-stop series of horrible things happen that I couldn't control. I nearly became destitute. I did work as a sub as much as I could but t I almost lost my house twice! I showed up a week early for a job interview for a position I really, really wanted. It was the third time they had an opening. I prepped the lesson so hard and went over whatever mistakes I thought I'd made in the previous interviews I'd had, sent my lesson to another teacher friend who gets accolades at her job...arrived a week early. Nope, didn't get the job either. Things finally lightened up slightly. I did finally get a full time position, with 4 preps (I teach 4 different classes a day to 7-8th). It's crazy, insanely hard but at least I have work!
