A few days ago, the US government finally announced the second round of stimulus checks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As it turns out, the $900-billion economic relief package will most likely include $600 stimulus checks that will be received by most Americans. Needless to say, the news about the total of the stimulus check money left many folks disappointed, since it's half the amount people received in the spring.
Of course, thousands of internauts decided to deal with the news in the way that is closest to their hearts—by jumping on the interwebs and creating hilarious memes reacting to it. So true. So ridiculous. All of Congress should be tarred and feathered. STIMULUS CHECKS...$600! Even if the nation was not broke and in unpayable debt...$600 PER MONTH since the original one time stimulus check would hardly be any help to the average citizen! People your representatives are truly clueless to our reality. DRAG THEM OUT BY THERE EARS AND PUT A BOOT UP THEIR ASSES AND SEND THEM HOME.

I think this is mostly because the teachers who promise pizza parties are mostly the new ones and they make barely enough to pay rent but they still want to do something nice for their students.

To many people don't know that some people are doing just and would be able to improve there situation to use the stimulus check for presents under the Christmas tree. I know it won't be till after Christmas but the same applies to birthdays or just getting something new to fend off quarantine boredom.

Alyssa has been through a bout with Covid-19 and still suffers from its lingering effects. There's a pretty moving video of her discussing her experience. Her biggest fear, as it would be for any parent, was spreading it to her children and husband and facing the reality that she might die without ever being able to hug them.

I was just wondering about it. Is crust really that awful that people have to cut it away? I get those heels, they're hard, but just the edges? It can't be that bad? The crust on bread in my country is probably the best thing about it, especially on freshly baked one. It's so crispy

I make $22 an hour in a place that literally cannot pay people to work there. We are "essential" so we can't close down. Business has INCREASED since the pandemic. The company is understaffed for the increased demand so we work 60-80 hours a week (Nevada has no limits). With all the overtime pay we've been throwing money in our savings, and kids college funds, paying double mortgage payments, and double car payments, for almost a year. I recruit for our company constantly, people say "no I don't want to work in a warehouse"- young healthy people! I'm in my fifties, I work alongside men and women of every age, people working insane overtime, some while undergoing cancer treatments, living with MS, and we all work hard because we've all struggled and lived paycheck to paycheck. Every dollar earned is one dollar closer to financial security. There are HUNDREDS of jobs like ours available in this area, people choose not to take them. You want more than your $600 freebee? earn it.

Members of Congress have the best health insurance for life. Everything is covered. They will never receive a medical bill. Most were wealthy before being elected, I wonder how many ever lived paycheck to paycheck? How can they understand something they never experienced or know anyone who has. How can someone like Mitch McConnell push such paralyzing legislation through? Does he hate most Americans and is hell bent on ruining lives? I don't understand wanting to treat others like this. Yes there reasons and explanations, they can discuss with the media, but they do they ever come in contact with those lives they destroyed?

The irony is that if the US hadn't been so negligent in building a proper welfare system, they wouldn't have to spend trillions of dollars now on useless stimulus checks that won't even cover the rent. They are handing out glasses of water to people that are drowning.

Other nations have programs that have allowed their economies to remain relatively stable, by doing what? Compensating for wages lost to Covid, so peopel can 1. buy and 2. sell and therefore 3. stay in business which 4. keeps people employed! See how that works? ....

Hmmm...I am not sure what to think of this...here in Hungary, nobody got a single penny of financial help...so while I totally understand that $600 is not a huge amount over there, it's still something. At least one can put food on the table or this amount might cover the rent. I was taught not to complain about something you get for free.

It took the IRS 9 months to send me the 1st one. They kept sending it to the wrong address. Multiple phone calls over 9 months finally got me someone who was a competent employee to send it to the right address. Now I have to wait another 9 months for $600? F**k this s**t.

Yes, because the GOP doesn't want to spend more than $1 trillion on financial support for the people who need it. Trump was talked out of demanding $2k stimulus checks by White House aides because otherwise the GOP, lead by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, would block all negotiations with the Democrats and no one would get any money. Republicans really do not care about people.
