Few month ago I started a photo project “Soviet Mosaics in Georgia” as a hobby – aim was to photograph old mosaic murals from soviet times all around Georgia.

Being part of Lenin’s “Monumental Propaganda” Plan, mosaic murals, along with other socialist art styles, aimed to glorify communist government and describe everyday life of soviet people, especially that of a working class, in brightest possible colors.

Nowadays, these mosaics are not considered of any value and moreover, are linked to buildings – like factories, farms, warehouses and etc. which are not functioning any longer, and most of them are subject to destruction.

I decided to create a photo archive and locations map of disappearing images.
