Colorization has been in its digital infancy for over a decade, but things are changing. This video demonstrates over 320 hours work, bringing long forgotten glass negatives, photocards and mattes, into the world of color. All work is undertaken by hand using techniques that bring colorization closer to accuracy. The results invoke a change in perception and a new way of looking at history.
My background is in professional photography, this in turn steered me toward the colorizing of historical imagery, in the form of glass plates and negatives. My Colorful Past exists to bridge a gap between history and art that maintains an educational value.
