We Travelled 26.000Km In 4 Months From Romania To Mongolia With Our 6-Year-Old Sitting In A Sidecar
After our previous trips around Europe and to the Caucasus, we decided to try something else, so we traveled to Mongolia, on a four-month, 26.000kms trip in our sidecar motorcycle, through 12 countries.
You can see our route in the picture below.

What time of year is it? Love the local culture....What an experience!
@Mama Panda : andrew kurkovsky made it into a pun and i thought it was funny and quite clever, and i upvoted it before posting my initial comment. correcting the spelling is ok, when it's done nicely, and when they also show appreciation for the rest. otherwise it's called mockery at best. i'm not a native speaker and as such i know it can be intimidating to post in a foreign language, so i guess i was being overly protective. i wasn't expecting to be stepping on so many toes though, i'm finding this quite interesting ! i think it's more of a general missunderstanding but everyone (perhaps including me) is being very aggressive. that's sad. let's make war or something... @Just a Purpler : how can you tell whether it was a problem or not ?
I'm with Priscilla. It's looks amazing, but I'm from Canada where a fam did a very similar thing. They kidnaped/ransomed. Lived 6 yrs in captivity where the mother and children suffered unimaginable indignities. It's got NOTHING to do w/fast food, or sheltered North American existences and EVERYTHING to do with world issues and the current state of political affairs in these countries. Are some great photos /memories worth the risk? Not to me, not for my daughter. There r places to go where pretty similar memories can be made without these dangers. Some would argue its brave and cultured. Others will say it's unnecessary risk, esp for the mother and 6 y/o girl in some of these parts unfortunately
And what makes you assume that Uzbekistan is not "safe"?

This was truly the trip of a lifetime to an area we seldom get to see. And you've given an incredible gift to your son. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures and please continue to enjoy traveling the world. (Somehow I don't think this is the only trip of its kind you're going to take.) May you always have clear skies and safe passage.
amazing content, this is the reason why I visit bored panda, not all that political social justice c**p that bored panda been recently filling up with.
At least 2 people have downvoted you being against SJW's. Notice how they just downvoted you instead of trying to explain why we should care about their causes. Oh yeah, because they just like to be outraged.
Load More Replies...Everyone talking about this being a much more valuable educational experience than text book, you are, in part, correct. However, it would be nice for people to stop denigrating formal education. It is very important that children have both. This young boy will have a great start having had such amazing experiences.
I clicked on this on a bored whim thinking I wouldn't give a c**p. Pleasantly surprised.
Fabulous. I ran out of comments. Proves there are still adventures to be had. Stay safe.
Incredible photography, very different than I'm used to seeing of this area.
Great trip.Mihai. I'm sure your kid will remember this for the rest of his life. Also, we, the bikers in Romania, will always be with you in spirit wherever you go. Ride safe amigo.
This is so awesome! Looks like you've got everything you need on those 3 wheels, and what a cool adventure for all of you...not just your son, but each of you got amazing things from this experience. Keep on exploring and sharing your adventures...it keeps the wanderlust alive in all of us! 😘👍🙏
Wonderful trip!I don't think I've ever seen so any photos from countries ending in "stan"! What a formidable trio to take on a cycle, much less through such bleak territory! You folks have indeed, nerves of steel! Salute!
How do I get 4 months off without losing my job. It's a problem.
I'd rather enable my young children to make friends and play than sit in a side car, chasing his parents dreams... Poor kid!
How nice Mihai! I've read 'Vand kilometrii' ears ago... So happy you are still doing this, and most of all I'm happy for you cause you share this amazing journey with your family. All the best my friend! :)
what a fantastic experience. thank you for sharing some of the photos with us <3
Wish I️ could go on a trip like that, but how did the boy go to school
Well, he's six. I don't know how it's done in other parts of the world, but in the US, he would barely have been in school, and everything he would have learned, could have easily been taught by his parents. Once again, I don't know how schooling works elsewhere (I believe they are from Romania), but it is also quite possible that this trip was taken in the Spring and Summer months, BEFORE he would have been in school. Either way, it looks like the child gained a very rich education about the world during his trips.

I so enjoyed all of these pictures of this God forsaken land. Even so much of the landscape was barren I could still see beauty in the pictures. I'll bet that little boy was very tired by the time he got to campsite every night, actually I'll bet they all were exhausted by the end of the day. Fantastic!!
I bet he nodded off as and when he liked in the side car. I've even fallen asleep while riding pillion on long trips. Even when you want to stay awake to see the stunning scenery!
Load More Replies...You wonder if the kid will actually remember this/if they actually appreciated it
