If you’re a few inches taller or shorter than the average height, it seems that the world is conspiring against you. To highlight this universal truth, artist Sara Pocock has created a series of illustrations that focus on the annoying problems both giant and pixie girls face nearly every day.
Sara is no stranger to this kind of work, either. After a lifetime of drawing on living room walls and doodling on notebook paper, Sara decided to capitalize on her interest and moved to Minneapolis, where she earned her BFA in animation at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2006. Since then she has worked as an animator for Cartoon Network, BuzzFeed, and other notable names.

Tall girls problems
Short girl problems
For short girl you forgot the sunblockers in the car that never cover the sun because you're too short
I have every single one of the short people problems and the car sun block problem. One time I was in a hotel in Germany and I literally saw only my forehead and up in the mirror. Sigh...
Load More Replies...YES to the tall girl problems. Though don't be embarrassed if you're taller than the guys! There's nothing wrong with that. A few things I would add: Jeans/pants are always either too short or waaaay too baggy. Being attacked by ceiling fans/low hanging lights. Guys' eyelines being right on boob level with you. Having trouble finding dress shoes that are big enough. Trying to squeeze into tiny restroom stalls.
My teenage son's girlfriend is about six inches taller than he is (and a good foot taller than me) he still is growing but I doubt he catches up to her. They don't care one bit! Love is Love
Load More Replies...Agh! The seatbelt in the neck is a real pain!! I have to wrap a thin scarf around it to prevent nasty chaffing!
In my country it is recommended for the children and short people to sit on a safe pillow that don't slide easily on a car seat . That way the seat belt does not damage the throat in the car crash.
Load More Replies...I'm short, I have a pair of tongs in the kitchen that have silicon tips so I can get jars off the top shelves
I use the chair every time I have to take something from the top shelves, and I used to drive with a pillow on the driver's chair cause...short girl problems
Load More Replies...I had a budding relationship with a beautiful tall woman, over long distance. We knew each other in person from years ago, but hadn't been around each other in a few years (both of us were with someone else at the time). She was so heavily into me for 6 months, were going to meet up at her friend's wedding... and then, suddenly, she "got scared" and broke it off ... because of her fear of men breaking things off with her because of her being tall. I was gutted. All you insecure men who have problems with tall women: go f**k a garbage disposal.
I was going to say how petty that was, but women won't date short guys so I guess everyone is petty!
Load More Replies...I was 6'2" at the age of 16, I'm about 5'10" now. I've had all the tall girl problems but, because my torso is shortened by massive curves in my spine, I get the short girl things like seatbelts trying to strangle me as well. If my spine were straight I'd be about 2metres tall, or 6'6" #MarfanSyndrome
What happened to you? 4 inches of change is huge! Hope you are ok.
Load More Replies...My daughter is short and works as a hostess at a restaurant. She gets very frustrated when customers don't notice her or dismiss her when she tries to seat them. We also keep numerous stools and ladders around the house so she and I can reach things (I'm a smidge taller than her, but not by much).
I'm small myself. All my life, I have had sales people ignore me. What gives?
Load More Replies...Seatbelt strangling happens to anyone with boobs, it has nothing to do with height. Also, wearing flats is a privelege. High heels are torture.
Although I see your points, I think I'd have to disagree on a few, especially the seatbelt strangling. I'm average height, but I'm remember when I was growing up still, I hated strapping I'm because the seat belt always rubbed hard on my neck. I'm guessing short people never get rid of that problem lol.
Load More Replies...As a short girl, stools are my best friend. In other places tho like grocery stores, i hope for the best someone tall can help x.x cant ever reach for an item without knocking everythin else down
I can relate to both. My arms are longer than my legs (I'm roughly 5'3" and growing), and it sucks when I put on a jacket and my arms overshoot the sleeves. But it also sucks cause I can't see over people's heads at standing concert events and stuff. I do have long arms which helps. Is there something for medium people problems?
Then there are sort of tall people like me Tall torso but short legs... you kid of get the best of both worlds (sarcastic) I am 5' 10" kind of tall is for a woman but all my height is in my torso.... so I can not use the sun visor in my car, when sitting I tower over my husband who is the same height as I am when standing, but I have to sit in shorter chairs and I have to run to keep up with my husband LOL
Not horrible, except it is NOT a problem to be taller than men. That is insecure male-centered b******t.
Oh yeah! Short girl problems. Don't forget the condescending and patronizing attitude we get from many taller folk. Like pats on the head or kids menus to 25 year olds.
Oh, I feel for the tall girl, but I know those short girl problems all too well! Especially in the store when I have to look for a tall person to reach something for me. I really need to carry a grabby hook or something.
As a shortie, I am so embarrassed to ask tall people in the store if they would please reach the good stuff on the top shelf for me. The worst of the problem is waiting for a tall person to come along. It never fails that all the ones that come by are as short as me. Boo hiss.
Well, I'm a reasonably tall guy with a very short wife--you don't need to be embarrassed to ask me for help reaching. I'm used to playing giraffe.
Load More Replies...Years ago, back in the early to mid 60's one of my cousins from South FL came to visit and brought some of her roommates from nursing school with her. Now my cousin was a tall girl, around six feet, but one of her roommates instinctively ducked to come through our front door. She had to have been at least 6 foot 6 or taller. It turned out her nickname at nursing school was "Tree". She wasn't the skinny kind of tall either, her whole body was in perfect proportion. Of course to an eight or nine year old boy, she looked like a giant compared to everyone else.
The tall girl shower problem would be SO much better if she were facing the other way. Never washed my hair facing the stream before but have def had to squat and lean back before.
Actually, I object to that one. It's not a tall girl problem, it's simply a tall problem. We bought this place when it was only foundations--and had the builder set the shower heads 6" higher than normal.
Load More Replies...You forgot the impossible to reach the peddles in the car, and when you adjust the seat so you reach the peddles you can't see out of the windshield and your face is nearly touching the steering wheel. I'm s**t scared of driving due to it being so dangerous if I ever get in an accident. The airbag will probably kill me.
I’m only 5’ 8” but people tell me I seem taller because of the way I carry myself, like posture and maintaining eye contact. i am always approached at stores to get things off shelves. I don’t mind.
And I used to think, the shower head is placed soo low so that you don't wet your (precious, long) hair if your just want to take a quick shower. Or, rather, I did not think, I took it for granted. So naive.
It seems tall girls have mostly same issues as tall boys... If i had a dime every time i hit my knee on the desk or try to find fitting clothes id be a millionaire by now... Then again i cant say how it works with stilettos... guess ull never know...
YES! I can SERIOUSLY relate to ALL of these short girl problems. Thank you! :)
the only tall problem that's only for girls is the one with the shoes and the one with being taller than guys, the rest are for both guys and girls
It's not being taller than boys but the fact that their eyes are at her boobs level. And they're very close in crowded places, as buses at rush hours.
