Serena Williams Poses Topless As Pregnant Goddess For Vanity Fair, And Some People Find It “Disgusting”
1.4Mviews
Worldwide tennis champion Serena Williams pretty much slays everything she does, and that’s soon going to include motherhood. To celebrate the upcoming arrival of her little one, she recently posed for the cover of Vanity Fair – wearing nothing but panties and a body chain.
Serena first met her man, Reddit inventor Alexis Ohanian, in 2015 at a hotel in Rome. After a year and a half of courtship, romantic dates in Paris, and Alexis flying around the world to watch Serena play, the pair became engaged in December 2016. The following month, Serena made the jaw-dropping discovery that she was 8 weeks pregnant – and then casually went on to win all 7 matches of the Australian Open with no one even knowing her secret.
Though Serena looks like a stunning, other-worldly goddess in the sumptuous Annie Leibovitz photo series, you probably could’ve guessed by now that, as usual, some people are still shocked by the sight of a naked, pregnant female body. For the most part, however, she’s getting the praise she deserves. See her incredible photoshoot below, and add your opinion in the comments!

As touching as Serena’s love story is, not everyone on the Internet was impressed with her photoshoot

I think it's because the west is so (relatively) peaceful/rich for so long now. People can now afford to keep themselves busy by creating new trivial frustrations which weren't even an issue/priority when your country is poor or at war. Since when is projecting what you would or wouldn't do onto other people a thing? Can't you say "This isn't for me, or "I" wouldn't feel comfortable doing and leave it at that? Why do those spoiled people have to try and change/influence other people to copy their character? Seems very nosy and egocentric. Just keep yourself busy with your own life. If it's so boring you have to continuesly judge others then get a hobby.
Personally, I don't give a damn about the photos as it is her business what she does with her body. But this comment sums up the "west" (I'll say first world) countries societal problems (most anyway) so incredibly well that it makes my head spin. Well said good sir! Well said indeed.
You hit the nail on the head there. That's probably why you are a captain.
Well said.
Yet, the entire point of this post and that magazine is to influence others by what they are doing/content they are creating. I'm terribly sorry, but what you wrote is utterly retarded. Not only that, but it's also hypocritical. You are telling other people how to behave, yet you urge them not to do the exact thing you are doing. You are full of shit. let people express their thoughts however they want, and go back to sewers. Please.
Well said!!
Well said, Cap x
I was going to say this very thing, and now I don;t have to. Thanks Captain Planet!
I agree with you, with one addition. It seems like some of the respondents aren't even westerners. People in general can't seem to keep their noses out of everyone else's business. Don't like it, don't look at it. PERIOD. No matter what country you're from!

Because they are found so as a public personality in a public media. I find this wrong too. She is more than a naked body. She's a super athlete and many young ladies did look up to her.

You are absolutely right. There are bigger issues in the world. However, that does not negate the fact that our society's comfort with nudity and other forms of immorality is disgraceful. If we weren't so blessed with life's comforts, we would understand what life is really about. No one is a "goddess" as this title calls Serena Williams. We are all at the mercy of God. He has blessed us with everything we have and we have forgotten to be humble and grateful. Instead, we think we can do whatever we want and distort what true beauty is, which has very little to do with sex at all. These images do not show true beauty (as they are manipulated or airbrushed) nor do they show the truth about pregnancy. I find this image worth speaking out against because I believe God has better for us than to flaunt our bodies. Believe me, I have plenty in my life to keep me busy, but if we don't fight for what is right then we are simply letting our culture go to hell.
I can't understand how nudity = immorality. You're letting religion override your commonsense.
That's a lot of assumptions you're making there. - How is nudity immoral? We're all human beings with human bodies, I don't see how that's bad. She's not showing any of the naughty bits, just her stomach. - You're assuming that "true beauty" exists and isn't in the eye of the beholder. - This has nothing to do with sex. - Your religion isn't everybody's religion. Nobody cares about your argument if your only argument is "my God says it's bad." There are other religions in the world that are just as valid as yours, as we have no way of knowing which, if any, are correct. Society doesn't bow to your religion.
So much wrong with your comment I don't know where to start. There is nothing immoral about nudity. We were born naked. Nudity isn't sex, it's simply a body without garments. Serena is beautiful and successful and happy. This is all god wants from us. God has blessed Serena with love and she has made the most of it. I think she looks like a beautiful powerful strong pregnant woman, what could be more truly beautiful? I thinks its sad that someone can look at beauty in its original form and be so bent out of shape.
I think the photo is well made - not too much of PhotoShop, she looks natural and really pretty. The shots are not offensive in any way. If she was photographed at the beach in a bikini, noone would fuss about how she should keep it private. I have a feeling most haters are envious little humans. If it throws you back so much - don't look... But stop spilling your poison.
Exactly! If she were at the beach and pregnant, no one would have an issue. She is a gorgeous woman with a gorgeous figure. I don't understand the judge-y nature of some people.
Things like pregnancy and motherhood are controversial? Wow, Brave New World is happening.
It has become controversial to be controversial. It is also controversial, though, to avoid controversy. We are living in a world where freaking out has become normal.
Hans, I'd like to suggest that being exquisitely overly sensitive to ALL slights (real, imagined, implied, sung, printed, recorded, photographed, written, spoken, etc.) is now the fuel for extreme righteous indignation and never ending rage.
@Aurelia Grey: absolutely. And add legislation. We get laws that cut down the rights for all and maybe safe us from some danger whereas other things kill many people daily but we simple accept it.

Pregnancy is not controversial. Nudity is controversial.
For literally thousands of years, nudity was not controversial. In many places, it still isn't. Why should nudity be automatically sexual?
Nudity is controversial when it's positive, not used to sell something and/or white. Otherwise it's happily spread on billboards, in subways and buses, in movies and comic books, and on the cover of magazines.
