Winter is here, and so are the best memes - the final season of Game of Thrones premiered on Sunday, and it was everything fans could have hoped for and more. And boy was there a lot to share. Bored Panda has rounded up an army of the best Game of Thrones memes from the season 8 premiere - and it's easy to say fans were wild-ling out.
From such plot twists as the Lannister's being de-throned as the messiest family in the 7 kingdoms (ok Jon Snow didn't know it was his aunt), to Bran sitting around sipping tea at all the drama waiting for his nemesis to arrive, to Cersei plotting on Euron Greyjoy (or is it the other way around?) and Sam finding out his best friends girl/aunt killed his family. The cast of Game of Thrones probably had to sign a blood oath with HBO to keep from spilling any secrets about the final season or the Games of Thrones ending, but there are some things we can expect. Known for feature-length film style fight sequences the final fight scene with the Army of the Dead is set to be the largest sustained action sequences in any TV series or film. Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, the scene took 55 nights of filming in the wintry outdoors. Producer David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly, “Having the largest battle doesn’t sound very exciting — it actually sounds pretty boring. Part of our challenge, and really Miguel’s challenge, is how to keep that compelling… we’ve been building toward this since the very beginning, it’s the living against the dead and you can’t do that in a 12-minute sequence.”
Well... they said he knows nothing... and life seems to be just proving that every step of the way...
Cersei may not have gotten her elephants but some serious dough was put into this final season. To be precise £11.2 million was spent per episode compared to the series average of £5 million per episode. With their massive budget GOT dethroned The Crown as the most expensive season budget in history at $100m for two seasons or about $5m or £3.7m per episode.
Fans may have felt short changed to discover that there were fewer episodes this season but never fear we are still getting just as much juicy Game of Thrones plot. The episodes are set to be almost two hours each in grand feature-length style. Unfortunately, not matter what this means the episodes are still going to be over before we know it *cue the tears*.
With thrones you never know who is going to die next because, let's face it, nobody is safe. While we can all put in our bets for whose going to be offed next, whose death will be the most dramatic (the most pricey)? The most expensive death on GOT thus far was the death of Meryn Trant, killed by the fearless Arya Stark. Taking place in the final episode of season 5, Mother’s Mercy, Arya stabs out Trant’s eyes. Because as the shown-runner David Benioff explained, "She couldn’t really poke out his eyes,” it required some expensive CG and make-up.
I will survive... but there is this creeping thought that this is the last season... Now thats creepy
So how will it all end? "Loose-lipped" Kit Harrington hinted during promo for his new film, that fans may not be satisfied with the ending. Comparing it to some other plot-twist style endings of famous shows he said to MTV News, "My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad and The Wire, and they all ended in a way that didn’t satisfy you."Harrington said, "I think a TV series that’s spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end... I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone."
- I killed your father - Oh. Well. That's ok, now I can get back home to my brother - I killed your brother too - ...that excalated quickly
Maaan.....I was actually eating Shrimp Cocktail while watching the episode, and I didn't even make the connection
When you want to visit family but they say you can't bring your dogs.
I've never watched Game of Thrones (no I'm not one of those "special uwu i havent done a trendy thing" people) but I just genuinely want to know if its good? I don't have a place to watch it on but might consider buying some subscription if everyone thinks it's super good.
I would wait until the end of May when the series if over with... that way you can watch all 8 seasons in one go and you can get the full experience!
I watched it after 4 seasons were already out and I absolutely love it!! If you are into fantasy then you should give it a watch. It has amazing many story lines, but they are not all over the place. I feel it was all well thought out and executed. Give it go and see how you like it. :)
There's a reason everyone who watches Game of Thrones tells you to watch it. I was definitely one of those people who didn't watch it just because everyone else did, but I started watching last year and I am totally into it. I woke up at 3 am to watch the premiere. Even if fantasy totally isn't your thing (I don't care much for it, to be honest) it's really worth watching.
It is good, but I just could not take the graphic violence. It was too much for me :(
Meh
Oh... another series worth watching but even more worth reading is Outlander :)
It is good... but per usual... the books are better and starkly different now that the show is several seasons into passing up the storyline...
It's soooo good!
If you like to read, much better to read the books! :) The books are amazingly well written!
Yes. It's heart-wrenching at times but also very worth it.
Definitely watch it! You wont regret it- if you're into fantasy, battles, magic, creepy stuff!
It`s a subjective point of view so nobody can tell you if it`s worth it or not, but I tell you this. If this show will grow on you it`ll do it like no other show you`ve ever watched. That`s the thing with GoT, it has that "something" that keeps you tormented until you watch the next episode. I strongly recommend you to watch it, you won`t regret it! Cheers
Interesting story lines, excellent acting, scenery, castles, sinister rogues, heroes, and engrossing once you get into it. But no fairy tale endings. Bloodshed. Nudity. Greed. If you liked Lord of the Rings you'll probably like Game of Thrones. I have watched it from the beginning and enjoy that it captured my attention because it's so well done. I know it got "trendy" but that didn't influence me. There's a fair amount of swordplay, violence, murder but also true love and good people too. If you like a good story, you'll probably like this one.
It's excellent, and you can get the full seasons from the library, almost certainly! If you're not into violence it has some places that might be rough for you, and if you're not a fan of semi-graphic sexual content there's... a lot, tbh. But the story is absolutely worth it, yes.
It's great. One of the best shows ever made, probably. Seasons 1-6 are fantastic, with a little dip in season 7, but hoping for a 10/10 season 8 tho!
There are many, many references in the show/books that are very similar to real historic events and situations, if you look back at the comparisons. At least in early episodes, and sci-fi aspects aside.
You can get the first seasons at most libraries. The books are great, too!
The story is good and it is very well made (costumes, special effects etc), however it does get very graphic so I'd say it depends on how you feel about that.
I would read the books first - and then watch it. The frist season is reeeeally close to the books and then it drifts apart. ------- It's a great story and the characters shift - there are characters that you absolutly hate in the beginning and hope in the end that they don't die. (And also they are not black and white/ good and bad - there's often an in between. ---------- But as someone else mentioned - it's als really violent.
I do not own a television and have never been much into tv. But the Game of Thrones is by far and away the most intelligent thing I have ever viewed. If William Shakespeare were alive today, he would be writing the Game of Thrones.
More like J. R. R. Tolkien. GOT author George R. R. Martin shares the same middle initials and fertile imagination.
Well, more than 26 million people can’t be wrong
What a ridiculous question. It’s one of the most popular and highly awarded tv series in history. Of course it’s bloody good.
So many fans can't be wrong. If it's not worth watching it would never gain this much of a hype.
I kept waiting for Jon to fall of the dragon xD now all I can think about is if he does die, that's how I want him to go lol I mean no one would expect it, would they ;)
Apparently while the actor was filming that scene one of his balls got stuck on the mechanical dragon
Best memes ever (for me).
